Magdy Akladios & Youstina KaldasDr. Akladios attended West Virginia University where he got his Masters of Business Administration degree and bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1995. Then he continued his education there and got a masters in Occupational Health & Safety and Industrial Engineering in 1996 . In 1999 he got his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering.Areas of Interest: Ergonomics (Office and Industrial), Safety Engineering, Business &, Engineering Economy, Industrial Engineering, Construction & General Industry Safety, Environmental Sciences, and Hazard Analysis & Accident Investigation

Why Safety?

Through my presentation, I hope to educate the public about the many hazards and dangers found in the workplace as well as inform them on how to fix safety issues and create a threat free environment for workers. By gaining awareness of common hazards, injuries and accidents are greatly reduced.

Tips and Tricks to a Safer Working Environment

Knowledge is the key ingredient in providing a safe work environment—if everyone knows the correct procedures then

accidents and injuries can be kept to a minimum.0 briefing all new employees on work health and safety policy at induction0 providing a training session to new employees on all safety procedures,

including evacuation and other emergency procedures0 making reasonable adjustments if required, e.g. providing clear

markings and color contrasts on steps or pathways, building a ramp to allow access to a building and providing a parking space close to the place of employment for an employee in a wheelchair.

0 conduct relevant training on any new equipment or machinery.0 review OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) logs, first

aid logs, workers' compensation reports, complaints, and close calls

Internal Building Layout

I will construct my own model of a workplace, exemplifying all of the safety techniques I had researched. This model will be a miniature, realistic layout of how a room, up to safety inspection, should function.The main purpose of my research project and presentation is to acquaint myself with material that will assist me in my future endeavors as well as educate others of the importance of safety in every environment
