French Country… that is the best
way to describe the activity room in this assisted living floor at Hollandview Trail. “I felt the furniture should be ergonomi-cally correct and at the same time have strong silhouettes to evoke a classic French country look”. Joanna Marowits
BOTTOM: The Activity Room is visible from all areas, so residents can actively or passively participate in various activities.
LEFT: The Dining Room’s millwork serves a multi function: dis-playing a collection of French Country ceram-ics.
MIDDLE: The scheme continues into the kitchen. A mobile island allows residents to par-ticipate in cooking ac-tivities.

BOTTOM: The marble topped café counter pro-vides a social spot for the guests.
ABOVE: Front entrance reception acrylic and pin signage add visual clarity. Custom millwork.
BELOW AND BOTTOM RIGHT: Every retirement com-munity needs a café. This one has a self serve compo-nent and is a local gathering place.
ABOVE: The elevator lobby is designed to be seen and provides drama with custom millwork around the eleva-tors.

OPPOSITE: The dining room is al-ways set with fine china. The zones help guests focus on conversations.
TOP: The en-trance to the SPA is serene, yet vi-brant and relaxing. It evokes a place to relax and be taken care of.

By keeping things consistent and simple adds just enough spice The contrast of dark woods and light walls keeps the space fresh elegant and sim-ple.

RIGHT: The SPA, a place to have a message or meet with the attending Physician.
ABOVE: The Movie Thea-tre: A place to gather and catch a movie, or gather to meet in groups.
BELOW: A view of the corridor lead-ing into the activity room left side. The signage and strategic millwork aids in wayfinding.

LEFT: Clean classic millwork in a medium tone evokes an Old English Pub. The bar stools are custom sized for ease of Seniors to get in and out of the chairs.

TOP: The Stone Fireplace Mantel is a strong contrast to the floor and walls and is raised for easy viewing whether sitting or standing.
LEFT: The Typical corridor with contrast handrails and artwork strategically positioned for wayfinding—is light and airy.

ABOVE and LEFT: The lounge and library is situated on the as-sisted living floor. The electric fireplace is cleverly built into the wainscoting. The high contrast millwork stands proud of the neutral wall colour. The mill-work is styled to display books as well as items for recreation.

ABOVE: Rich vibrant colours are a nice contrast to the neutral walls. The façade of the fireplace is cultered stone. Natural light filters thru the generous gathering space and main lobby. In view are the fold-able cheery wood wall partitions off the Chapel and multi purpose room.
RIGHT: The private dining room with built in server also acts as an extra meeting room.
