INTENSIVE COURSE IN OBSTETRIC EMERGENCIES
The Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia is proud to organise
the Intensive Course in Obstetric Emergencies. It is a two-day course designed
for practicing Obstetricians in both the public and private centres. It focuses
on the potential Obstetric emergencies facing obstetricians that often results
in serious risks to both the mother and the baby. It is an evidenced based
course that consists of 14 short lectures with abundant practical hands-on
practice on core and advanced obstetric procedures and skills.
The teaching module consists of 8 break-outs, 15 skills stations, 2 workshops,
9 scenarios and 6 discussions. The topics covered are Maternal Resuscitation,
Massive Obstetric Haemorrhage & Blood Transfusion, Shock and Fluid
Management, Eclampsia, Fetal Surveillance, Labour Ward Essential Skills &
drills to handle Shoulder Dystocia and Breech presentation. Participants also
learn to handle difficult Caesarean Section, Emerging Sepsis,
Thromboembolism and Clinical Governance and Risk Management.
The number of participants is limited to 24 per course. This ensures all
participants have adequate exposure to the mannequins a n d
skills. It is run by 8 experienced trainers who have all had
prior extensive experience with the RCOG based
LSSC.
At the end of the course all participants would be
assessed with knowledge MCQ test and Skills
test. All participants will receive a certificate
on completion of the Course.
