Competition History

Titus was purchased by Planet X, a bike company based out of Rotherham, England, in 2010. Planet X has been building bikes since the early 1990s. The company strives to build the most technologically advanced bikes offered today, while keeping the Titus roots at home in Portland, Oregon.

Titus started off building titanium bikes back in 1991, and has been specializing in titanium frames ever since. Titus boasts about there cutting edge designs, tube fabrications, and their meticulous attention to detail. These standards Titus has established has made Titus one of the leading titanium frame companies in the world. Titus also specializes in aluminum and carbon fibre frames as well as providing an array of full suspension bikes for their more ambitious riders.

Gary Fisher is the founding father of mountain biking. He established Gary Fisher bike company in 1993 where he created the first all-mountain bike with a front suspension fork and suspension ready geometry. In 2002, Gary Fisher created the first ever mountain bike with 29” inch wheels. In 2008, Gary Fisher advanced mountain bike handling with G2 Geometry, including the 29-er specific G2 29” Geometry, and then in 2008 he started producing road bikes. Then in 2010 Gary Fisher combined with Trek, the worlds most successful bike company, to create the Gary Fisher Collection.

Trek began building bikes in 1976, and they haven’t looked back since by creating the most successful bike companies in the world. Trek produces bikes for literally ever single rider, from kids bikes to downhill racing bikes there is nothing that Trek cannot build. Their mission states: “We believe in a better world.”

Rocky Mountain not only promises quality bikes for every style of rider, they have developed four independent, purpose-built full suspension systems. Rocky Mountain also hand builds all their frames and wheels, and they have invested heavily in quality control

In the past, Intense Cycles has targeted an “intense” audience who needs a bike that can handle the most epic of terrain. They have succeeded in this category by building powerful, versatile frames with state of the art geometry that is built to last. Intense Cycles has remained loyal to their custom built traits by hand building all their bikes here in the United States. Intense Cycles currently offers an impressive arsenal of competitive all-mountain bikes that attract a loyal group of supporters who buy their bikes for strong, stiff frames, quality components, and a world class geometry that allows for easy climbing, quick descending, and responsive turning capabilities. All these features are what make Intense Cycles a top of the line custom-built bike company that promises quality.

My new strategy for Intense Cycles is to establish the brand as a premier, custom built bike company that builds bikes for all types of terrain; from smooth, flowing single track to world-class downhill race courses. This strategy will consist of broadening Intense Cycles target audience by infiltrating the cross-country race scene. I plan on accomplishing this by marketing Intense as not only a durable, powerful bike company, but as a hand-built bike company that builds bikes with precision and accuracy, stressing the craftsmanship and care that each frame receives before being shipped off to it’s patiently awaiting owner. Intense Cycles has to take advantage of their hand-built quality so that they can propel the company to even greater success by eliminating a majority of their competition who mass-produces their bikes as if they were cars.

I plan to attack this new marketing strategy by becoming a part of the biking community. To do this, I plan on advertising their hand-built quality in major biking magazines across the country, and by attending cross-country and downhill races promoting the company. My strategy is to prove that Intense Cycles are built by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers; offering the best in hand-built technology and quality.
