TELECOMMUNICATIONS SHELTER NEEDS

Even though they look the same on the outside, telecommunications shelters have very different requirements. Redundant city

shelters can be produced inexpensively. Suburban and country shelters usually require greater reliability. And those sited well

away from civilization need both high levels of reliability and remote communications capacity.

So why is it that shelter air conditioners are all the same?

Theyre not, thanks to Liebert. The first name in protection for sensitive systems for more than 30 years,

Liebert has created the InteleCool 2 shelter air conditioning system.

Its not just a shelter air conditioner...its a custom-configured model that fits your exact needs and budget. Want

a bare-bones system at minimum cost? Consider the InteleCool 2, basic model. Want a top-of-the-line unit for that

vital remote shelter? Try the InteleCool 2, advanced system. Need a field replacement/upgrade of a 3 ton air conditioner

to 4 or 5 ton? Take the InteleCool 2 replacement/upgrade unit. Same name...very different shelter air conditioner.

Basic Cooling

For shelters that are less critical and located close to service capability,

minimum seasonal air conditioning is usually sufficient. Depending on the

application, single or redundant units may be used. A simple remote

monitoring capability may also be added.

Critical Shelters

Shelters with highly sensitive equipment and limited site access must keep

operating no matter what. These sites may require dual units, high-reliability

components such as a scroll compressor, energy saving capabilities such

as an economizer, heating, remote monitoring and switchover control.

The InteleCool 2 T-Pack is designed for these types of common

telecommunications shelters. This package includes the basic InteleCool 2

system with all of the most popular options including high and low pressure

switches, fan cycle control and low pressure bypass.

Special Locations

You dont always have a choice as to where to place a telecom shelter.

It may be located in an urban environment where noise, appearance and

other factors are important. Or it may be miles from nowhere on the side

of a mountainmaking absolute reliability an important requirement.

Step 1: Cooling Capacity

The InteleCool 2 is offered in five

capacities ranging from 1.5 to 5 tons,

covering the needs of almost any

shelter. Options and configurations

are available so you can match the

features you need to the cooling

capacity that's required. 2

Step 2: Cabinet

The self-contained InteleCool 2

cabinets come with your choice of

painted steel or aluminum panels.

Painted steel panels are available

in a choice of four different colors.

The evaporator supply and return

openings match industry standard

dimensions for ease of installation.

3Step 3: CompressorThe InteleCool 2 offers a choice of compressors to match your specific reliability needs. A rugged

hermetic compressor is standard on the 1.5, 2 and 3 ton units. For applications requiring the

highest reliability and lower energy use, a scroll compressor is also available as an option on the

1.5, 2 and 3 ton sizes and is standard equipment on the 4 and 5 ton capacity models. With fewer

moving parts and continuous compression, the scroll compressor is 14% more efficient than

hermetic units. It operates at an EER level of 11.3 one of the highest in the industry. The scroll

compressor is also ideal in applications where noise is a factor thanks to its low noise and vibration.

Compressors can also be located on either the right or left side of the u nit to make it easier to service dual installations.

No EconomizerWhen outside

temperatures are

warmer than the inside

air, the Economizer is

closed and indoor air

is recirculated to

maintain proper cooling.

Full EconomizerThe Economizer takes

advantage of low

outdoor ambients,

drawing on this cool

air to maintain indoor

temperatures. The

result is cooling at

lower energy costs,

also saving wear oncomponents.

ModulatedIn Modulated mode,

the Economizer draws

cool outside air and

recirculates indoor air,

reducing compressor

run time.

5Step 5: Economizer Option

The InteleCool 2 can be equipped with an economizer

system that uses modulating dampers to draw in

filtered, outside ambient air for cooling when the exterior

temperature drops below a pre-set level. These outside air

temperature settings are field adjustable. The economizer

saves energy and reduces component wear.

4Step 4: Fresh Air Damper

If required by your application, this

feature allows the introduction of

outside air into the shelter by means

of a field-adjustable damper.

7Step 7: Monitoring and Communications

Many Liebert remote monitoring options are available

ranging from relatively simple contact-closure sensing

to the Liebert Tele 2 for more complete monitoring

and control. Liebert also provides 24-hour monitoring

and alarm dispatch capability from our Columbus, Ohio,

command center.

Step 6: Controls

The high quality thermostat senses

ambient temperature and compares it

to your predetermined requirements.

For the highest levels of reliability

and to minimize site downtime critical shelters can be equipped with

two InteleCool 2 units and an

autochangeover system that balances

runtime and automatically switches

from one unit to another in case of a

system failure. Dual operation can be

accomplished with either the Dual

Unit Control thermostat or the Tele2

control and monitoring system.

Swift, Simple Installation

When deadlines loom, a simple installation is worth

almost anything...mostly because you cant get one at

any price. The InteleCool 2 is the exception to the rule.

However you configure the InteleCool 2, it comes

from the Liebert factory wired, piped, charged with

refrigerant and factory-tested as a complete system.

Each standard unit is shipped with a Nationally

Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) listing. If the

wall openings and electric service are in place, the

InteleCool 2 can be installed in as little as 30 minutes.

If you need to field replace/upgrade a 3 ton air conditioner

to 4 or 5 ton, take the ET3 Series (ET3xx) of InteleCool 2
