[ 10/11/12 7:04 PM] Marc - Intel: @chris - are you from hong kong?

[ 10/11/12 7:04 PM] Vincent Lam: I am primarily interested in HK, but open to other options

[ 10/11/12 7:05 PM] Marc - Intel:We have a rotation program that actually provides opportunities

across the region

[ 10/11/12 7:05 PM] Mike - Intel:@Chris and @Vincent. That is great. What would you like to know

about Hong Kong. I have been living here for a couple of years now.

[ 10/11/12 7:05 PM] Marc - Intel: so any of the sites are really open

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Vincent Lam:@Marc, that is good to hear, because •my career •interest generally

focuses around Asia, rather a particular city

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] chris:I came to Canada 4 years ago and I am holding Canadian Passport

right now. So am I eligible to apply for a position at Hongkong?

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Grace

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Kevin; welcome to our career chate

Page 4: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Chris. Sure, you can apply to work in Hong Kong. Of course, you'd

need to obtain a Hong Kong work permit to work in out Intel office.

Though it takes some weeks to get done, it typically is no problem.

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - we actually LOVE to have people be mobile and get

different experiences across asia - whether it be sales and mktg

finance, mfg finance, r&d finance, etc.

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Vincent Lam:@Mike. I •actually worked •in HK before coming to Canada for my

MBA

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Marc - Intel: hey kevin

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] chris: @Mike, thanks for the answer.

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] Mike - Intel:@Vincent. That's great. so you are familiar with Hong Kong. Do you

have questions about working for Intel in Hong Kong?

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] Keith - Intel:@Grace and @Kevin - We have several finance controllers from

APAC available to answer your questions.

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] Gary - Intel:@ chris. I was originally from Shanghai, and have been working in

Hong Kong for last 6/7 years.

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] gracesung12:Hi everyone. Im interested in exploring opportunities in both Hong

Kong & Singapore office. (currently doing my MBA here in Sydney)

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Gary - Intel: @ Chris. Do you have particular questions re working in hong kong?

Page 5: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Marc - Intel:@grace - hey. we've got opportunities in HK. what specifically are you

interested in?

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc - This is good news, because my previous job required me to

•travel around China, and I love it. After my MBA, it now seems like a

good plan to not just travel within China, but also Asia

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] chris: @Gary, really? nice to meet you here.

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Gary - Intel: @ chris, nice to meet you

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] gracesung12:So im particularly interested in finance (corporate finace) / strategy

types of roles.

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Mike. I am interested to know what are some available opportunities

•at Intel HK. I have a combination of sales and finance background,

and would love to •know where that could fit in

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Eric

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Tess

Page 6: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:11 PM] kevinchau:It's exciting to be here! Marc are you going to start the presentation

soon?

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] Tess: Hello Keith

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] tienlau:hello keith, I am interested to apply job position in Singapore. How

many candidates do you plan to recruite this time in Singapore?

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Vincent. We have a finance rotation program. People tend to rotate

through positions every couple of years. In Hong Kong there are

positions in Revenue finance (forecasting and report). There are also

positions in FP&A supporting the budgets and resource allocations for

our Asia sales group. In addition, we have marketing finance support

in Hong Kong and Controls finance positions.

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] Keith - Intel:@Tess and @Eric - We have several finance controllers from APAC

available to answer your questions.

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] Marc - Intel:

@grace - we have roles in HK that work with our sales and marketing

teams, as well as helping determine our go to market strategies

across asia for products

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] Marc - Intel:@kevin - this is just a chat...we won't be doing a presentation this

round

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] Keith - Intel: @Tienlau - We are not activily recruiting for Singapore at this time.

Page 7: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] Nellie - Intel: Hello everyone, this is Nellie. Is there anyone interested in Taiwan?

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] chris: @Gary, would you please introduce what you are doing at APAC?

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] gracesung12:

@March - thanks. Could you perhaps elaborate a little more? (i.e.

examples of the work/projects which potential candidate could be

doing?)

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] gracesung12: *sorry @ Marc

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] Eric Hung:

Nice to meet you here! I am originally from Taiwan, now getting my

MBA degree in the States and would like to join Intel in APAC region.

Is there any opportunity for me to go back to Taiwan to join Intel in

finance function?

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] kevinchau:@Marc I see, thanks! Can you tell us about the finance rotation

program? How many rotations do a general candidate go through?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Gary - Intel:@ Chris, I am responsible for Risk Assessment & Controls Function

for APAC Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Gary - Intel:prior to this job, I have also done rotations in marketing finance &

revenue finance in hong kong

Page 8: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] tienlau:@keith - may I know may I allow to apply for job position in Hong

Kong, as I am a Singapore PR with Malaysian citizen?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Keith - Intel:

@Kevin - There is material available for your review. Please click on

the Hong Kong Overview to your top right; and we are happy to

answer any questions you may have.

[ 10/11/12 7:16 PM] Tess:

What kind of background are you looking for fulltme positions? Since I

don't have any semiconductor industry experience, I would like to

know your preferences on the candidates.

[ 10/11/12 7:16 PM] Gary - Intel:@ chris, we have various roles in finance in Hong Kong including

sales& marketing finance, tax and controls

[ 10/11/12 7:17 PM] Marc - Intel:

@grace - let me give you a current example. as you have seen in the

press, tablets are taking the world by storm, mostly dominated by

apple and samsung. we are working our product strategies to

determine what products we should introduce, at what price points, in

which markets and how to create the pull for a new category. this

could also include which channels, oem's and odm's we should use as

well.

[ 10/11/12 7:17 PM] Keith - Intel:@Tienlau - yes, you may apply for the job position. My understanding

is you may be eligible to get a HK work permit on your own.

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] tienlau: Keith -- thanks

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] Nellie - Intel:Hi Eric - Taiwan has a team of finance that supports the sales

marketing organization. Do you have a particular area of interest?

Page 9: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Tess. We don't have a particular background that we are recruiting

for. Semiconductor experience is not a must. Really we are looking for

people with a diverse set of backgrounds. People with experience in

areas that we are looking to grow into (Phones, Embedded, etc.) are

particularly interesting, but any background is good. There are base

requirements that we are looking for people with the necessary

education and finance skills.

[ 10/11/12 7:19 PM] gracesung12:

@ Marc, that sounds really interesting. So would that be part of the

rotational program (i.e sales * marketing finance), or the two year

rotational program evolves around sales &marketing finance?

[ 10/11/12 7:20 PM] Marc - Intel:

@kevin - our rotation program lasts throughout your career. typically,

you'll enter intel finance in a pre-determined role. after about 18-24

months, you'll have the opportunity to rotate into a role of your

choosing (as long as it's open). as you become more senior, the

rotations are longer. i've done about 7-8 jobs at intel in my 17 years at

Intel, from mfg finance to r&d finance to sales and marketing finance.

[ 10/11/12 7:20 PM] Keith - Intel:@Tienlau - No Problem. Also as a Malaysian Citizen, you may want to

check out the Intel Malaysian opportunities.

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] Tess: Thanks Mike

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] herman-tjahjadi:

Hi Marc, I am a Canadian permanent resident (PR) and Indonesian

citizen. Let's say if I apply to Hong Kong, will Intel be willing to arrange

for the required paperwork?

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Marc - Intel:

@grace - yes - operational finance roles are typically all rotation. by

ops finance i mean those roles that partner with our business units to

make the businesses successful and hit our corporate goals. we also

have non-rotational roles in tax and accounting as well. if anyone is

interested in those, i can speak to those jobs also

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Amy

Page 10: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Patrick

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Patrick:Hello all. I only see a posting for Strategic Finance Associate. Can you

please clarify if this is the rotational program you are speaking of?

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Aseem

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Aseem: Hi Keith

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] chris: Does this program recruit people every year?

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Marc - Intel:@herman - in HK, the employee usually does the application for the

visa, but we'd be willing to say that we've made you an offer

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Keith - Intel:@Aseem, @Amy - We have several finance controllers from APAC

available to answer your questions.

[ 10/11/12 7:24 PM] gracesung12:

@ Marc - thank you. I am also thinking of seeking opportunities in

Singapore as well, could you also shed some light on the opportunities

offer in that office?

Page 11: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:24 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Patrick. Yes, the position posted role is part of our finance rotation

program in operations finance. If you apply to that job, you are

applying to our rotation program.

[ 10/11/12 7:25 PM] chris: @Marc, Does this program recruit people every year?

[ 10/11/12 7:25 PM] Marc - Intel: @grace - at this point, we're not recruiting for the singapore office

[ 10/11/12 7:25 PM] herman-tjahjadi:

@Marc - Thank you, Marc. So I can still interview for HK position.

Then, let's just say I get the offier, Intel or I can deal with the

paperwork, rite? Apology for being a bit redundant, but really want to

make sure.

[ 10/11/12 7:26 PM] Patrick:

@Mike - Thanks. Am I correct to assume that the rotational program

will allow me certain flexibility to choose my career path? i.e. rotate to

a role that I've developed interest in

[ 10/11/12 7:26 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. The program requirement mentioned about 5-10 experience

from the technology and semi-conductor industry . Is that a hard

requirement? •What's your view on how non-technology background

candidates can add value to Intel?

[ 10/11/12 7:26 PM] Marc - Intel: @chris - yes, that's our intent.

[ 10/11/12 7:27 PM] Marc - Intel: @herman - correct

Page 12: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:27 PM] Aseem:how supportive is Intel in sponsoring work permits for ppl from other

countries

[ 10/11/12 7:27 PM] gracesung12:

@ Marc - thank you. Another question: what is the key difference

between an Intel's rotation program (for undergraduates) and the one

for MBA students?

[ 10/11/12 7:27 PM] herman-tjahjadi:@Marc: So, the Treasury group will be the one who handles M&A and

capital market related projects?

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - the requirements is really around years of experience, not

necessarily semi or high tech...i should go back and look at the

wording. when i was hired at intel, i had ZERO high tech experience.

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] Gary - Intel:@Aseem: Assuming an offer is made, the application of visa is rather

straight forward

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Patrick. That is a good assumption. Typically, a person enters Intel

into a rotation that they are assigned to. After that they rotate about

ever 18-24 months. The rotations are chosen by the indivdual and

they apply for them at each transition. As people rotate, they choose

between finance functions, business functions, and locations. All of

them would be within the finance rotation program and based on your

interest.

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] Marc - Intel:

@grace - there's really no difference. it's really about the level of roles

that people rotate into. the undergrad analysts start off rotating into

more junior roles until they're promoted and eligible for more snr roles

Page 13: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:30 PM] Gary - Intel:@Aseem: Candidate can apply the work visa directly with the offer

made by Intel

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] Marc - Intel:

@herman - correct. most of our cash management and financing (the

little we do) is done by treasury. we do have a finance group called

intel capital finance that is part of the ops finance rotation program,

not in treasure. they work on the due diligence and business

justifications of our m&a activity with the business units.

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] Vincent Lam:@Marc. Can you •please talk •a bit about the training Intel provides,

especially for candidates without high-tech background?

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] gracesung12: @ Marc - thank you

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello wChow

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] Keith - Intel: welcome to the chat

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] Vincent Lam:@Marc. Does the strategic finance associate rotation includes Intel

capital finance? That's a role I find very interesting to me.

Page 14: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] wchow: Thanks. Sorry for being late

[ 10/11/12 7:34 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vince - we have a pretty robust training agenda within finance. it will

take you through our processes and analyses as well as the

development of influence, business partnership and other soft skills.

we also have weekly trainings that our business partners offer on the

product roadmap and our manufacturing processes. overall, i think it's

a great environment to soak stuff up - you'll be surprised how much

you learn just day-to-day on the job.

[ 10/11/12 7:34 PM] herman-tjahjadi:

@Mark - OK, so from my understanding, the Intel Capital Finance will

be the one who does the due diligence & business justification for

M&A, but the financing itself (capital market things) are handled by the

Treasury.

[ 10/11/12 7:36 PM] Mike - Intel:@wchow. no problem. what questions do you have about Intel, Intel

finance, or Hong Kong?

[ 10/11/12 7:36 PM] Patrick:

@Mike - That sounds amazing. Beyond operations finance, does the

rotational program encourage exposures to other departments such

as marketing and product development?

[ 10/11/12 7:37 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - yes the rotation does include icap, but to be honest, if you

want a career in intel capital, i'd go work in the intel capital group

rather than the finance team that works with them. the rotation with

intel capital finance will likely only be 2-4 years.

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] gracesung12:

@ Marc - im currently looking at the Intel jobs site, and just to confirm,

the role which I should be applying is "Strategic Finance Associate -

630750".

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Mike - Intel:

@Patrick. I do think our rotation program is pretty great. It is one of the

main reasons that I have been with Intel for 13 years. At Intel, we are

open to people moving from position to position. Finance has a

rotation program with an expectation/understanding of rotations. It is

part of our finance culture. The rest of the company does not really

have a rotation culture, but people do change jobs in other parts of the

company too. In finance, we are happy to have people rotate within

Page 15: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Aseem:thanks Gary, so I'm assuming that intel doesnt have a preference in

that case for ppl with a valid HK work permit for the roles.

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Aseem: ?

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Marc - Intel:@herman - correct on the treasury piece, but again, we do very little

financing in the markets. most of the deals have been cash or stock.

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] Gary - Intel: @ Aseem, not necessary

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] Marc - Intel: @grace - yes, you have the right position

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] Mike - Intel:

@patick ... i guess i wrote too much. here is the rest of my resoponse.

we are happy to have people rotate in finance, take a role outside of

finance, and then rotate back into finance. We value many

experiences. Some of our most senior finance people have done jobs

with Intel outside of finance at some point in their career

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] Gary - Intel: @ Aseem, the 1st priority is to find the right talent

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Gary - Intel:@ aseem, we have reasoable confidence to work out adminstration

side based on our previous experience

Page 16: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] herman-tjahjadi:

@ Marc - thank you for the guidance. I only see Operations Finance,

Tax. Accounting, Treasury, Internal Audit applications. How do I apply

for Intel Capital Finance? Please advise, thank you

[ 10/11/12 7:43 PM] gracesung12:

@ Marc, one last question. I understand that there will be 3 rounds of

interview. Can you explain a little more on the structure of the

interview?

[ 10/11/12 7:45 PM] wchow:

@Mike: thanks. I have 5 years of experience in FP&A, and thus I am

primarily interested in the Operational Finance in Intel Hong Kong. As

I know Intel has different segments -- personal computer, business,

storage, consumer electronics -- may I ask the operational finance in

Hong Kong mainly work on which sector?

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] Keith - Intel:

@Grace - We will begin screening interested candidates next week

and begin scheduling interviews the following week. After successfully

completing two phone interviews, candidates will travel to an Intel

campus near their current location for an onsite interview.

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. This question does not relate too much about the opening,

but I •personally am very interested. You mentioned you had no high

tech experience prior joining Intel. What was •the motivation factor for

you to get into a completely unfamiliar industry back then?

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] Marc - Intel:

@herman - we don't have a specific position that is targeted for intel

capital finance. it will be determined if there is an opening when

someone rotates out. if you are asking about working directly for intel

capital (not finance), i can get you the name of someone to talk to, but

that's not what we're recruiting for today

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] Keith - Intel:@Grace - you can expect both behavioral and finance technical

questions

[ 10/11/12 7:48 PM] Aseem: thanks Gary, for the clarification

Page 17: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:48 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow: Hong Kong is our geography headquarter for Asia Pacific.

In this site we have approximately 30 finance professionals. The

operations finance people are split into three main teams on site.

There are people focused on revenue forecasting and reporting in

partnership with our sales operations group. It also includes marketing

finance people that work with our marketing teams to allocate

marketing dollars to countries/programs and evaluate the ROI. We

also have the Budget and Planning

[ 10/11/12 7:49 PM] herman-tjahjadi:@Marc - Yes, it will be great if you can let me know who I should

contact in Intel Capital Finance. Thank you, Marc

[ 10/11/12 7:49 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - good question. i was just graduating with my mba and had

a number of offers. i had done an internship at intel and received the

offer at the end of the summer. i liked the culture of the company, the

people that i worked with, and the fact that the business was very

dynamic - it changed every year. i had another offer from a consumer

products company and i just couldn't get too excited about being the

finance analyst on the toothpaste team.

[ 10/11/12 7:49 PM] gracesung12: @Keith / @ Marc - thank you

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Mike - Intel:

@chow: continued ... we also have the FP&A team that works with the

geogrpahy general manager in making spending and headcount

resource allocations, and reporting actuals. Aside from these three

larger teams, there are also controls people that ensure compliance

and ethics and a few strategic analysts that perform analysis on areas

we plan to grow into.

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Keith - Intel: You are welcome

[ 10/11/12 7:52 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. Many thanks for sharing. you are right. I am sure the ever-

changing high tech industry will •certainly be more dynamic than

toothpaste industry.

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Gregg

Page 18: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Keith - Intel: Welcome to the chat

[ 10/11/12 7:56 PM] chris:

Hi, everyone, I need to sign off because it is 11:00pm at Toronto right

now. I have to get up early tomorrow for work, unfortunately. Many

thanks for the responses. Have a good night!

[ 10/11/12 7:57 PM] wchow:

@ Mike: thanks a lot. I am excited to learn the APAC regional finance

team is actually in HK (apologies for not knowing it before). And also

excited to learn that there are many exposures that can be gained

from the Hong Kong office.

[ 10/11/12 7:57 PM] gracesung12:@ Marc - To whom should I address the cover letter (in the job

application) to?

[ 10/11/12 7:58 PM] Gary - Intel: @chris, bye and have a good one

[ 10/11/12 7:59 PM] Marc - Intel:@grace - you can address it to Keith Washington. He'll make sure it

gets to me

[ 10/11/12 7:59 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. You mentioned hired associate enter into Intel with a pre-

determined role. How is that role decided? Is it based on candidate

experience, •Intel's need, or candidate's will?

[ 10/11/12 8:00 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow. No need to appologize. The are the geographies in Asia

from a sales and marketing perspective. (China, Japan, and APAC).

APAC covers the rest of Asia. For APAC, we have offices across asia.

In Hong Kong there are about 200 people that work for Intel. The main

business functions on site include Business Operations (supply,

demand, pricing), marketing, and the general manager.

Page 19: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:01 PM] Keith - Intel: Does anyone here have questions about the finance career path?

[ 10/11/12 8:02 PM] herman-tjahjadi:@Keith - Yes, please. I'd like to know more about the Finance career

path.

[ 10/11/12 8:03 PM] Marc - Intel:@vincent - the first role is typically determined based on intel's needs

at the time, essentially which roles we have a need to fill.

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] gracesung12: @ Marc - and what would Keith's title be?

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] wchow:@Mike: may we know which finance team you are currently at? Do

you work at the regional office since you joined Intel?

[ 10/11/12 8:05 PM] Keith - Intel: @Grace, you can use HR Manager for title

[ 10/11/12 8:06 PM] wchow:@Mike: I understand there are pros and cons working at regional

level. Just to get some perspectives - thanks.

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Vincent Lam:@Marc. Since it is a rotation program, has there been the case when

candidate simply wants to stay in their first rotation permanently?

Page 20: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Gary - Intel:

Intel Finance values developing our people, grow them both

professionally and personally. There are a few focus areas which we

are investing lots of resource and energy. 1) Intel finance offers

various roles from ops finance, accounting, tax & trade to auditing &

controls, and faciliate rotation; 2) there are various mentoring & buddy

programs to offer coaching & supporting 3) Intel finance values work

life balance

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Vincent Lam: @Marc. Apology for having too many questions

[ 10/11/12 8:08 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow. sure. I am happy to tell you about my career path. The past

two years, I have been based in Hong Kong and lead a team of ~30

finance professional in the areas of Revenue, Planning, and APAC

key account support. My current team is based primarily in Hong Kong

and Taiwan, but also in Korea. Prior to moving to Hong Kong I spent

10+ years in Intel's headquarter office in Santa Clara, California. I

started as as an undergraduate from UC Berkeley and entered the

finance rotation program.

[ 10/11/12 8:08 PM] Vincent Lam: @Gary. Do you mind elaborating on the buddy and mentor program?

[ 10/11/12 8:09 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - no worries. great questions. i've actually not come across

where someone has wanted to stay in their intial role permanently. i've

seen cases where they stay in the same group for extended periods of

time, but not in the same role.

[ 10/11/12 8:09 PM] Keith - Intel: Hello Amiradal

[ 10/11/12 8:09 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow: ... continued. I have done rotations in cost, revenue, and

pricing. Prior to moving to APAC, I had the opportunity to work with

our CFO as his technical assistant. Every finance professional has

their own career path and each is pretty impressive.

[ 10/11/12 8:09 PM] Gary - Intel:as a new comer joining Intel, a buddy (who usually is an veteran with

great deal of intel experience) will be assigned to you.

Page 21: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:10 PM] Keith - Intel:Please feel free to start asking questions. There are several APAC

controllers in the room.

[ 10/11/12 8:10 PM] Gary - Intel:The buddy program offers help to new comer to integrate into the

company not just professionally, but also culturally

[ 10/11/12 8:11 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow: working in a regional position gives great exposure to the

decisions that are made for the broader group. You also typically,

have the opportunity to start from a high level and then dive deeper in

to areas of interest. What you tend to miss out on in the regional roles

is the market and customer interaction that you would get if you

worked in one of the countries where the strategies are taken to

tactics and action.

[ 10/11/12 8:13 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. I •am consistently looking for exposure not just in China &

HK, but also other areas like Taiwan & Singapore. Can candidate ask

for rotating to a particular country?

[ 10/11/12 8:13 PM] Gary - Intel:

As far as the mentoring program is concerned, it is a successful

program which an intel employee will have the opportunite to access

to senior leaders to get coaching and overtime establishing a

relationship as mentor & mentee.

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] wchow:

@Mike: thanks very impressive. but I have to say -- we went to the

same school! I hope I can replicate your success (haha). But I agree

exactly, one of the reasons that I like FP&A at regional level is the

exposure, knowing the overall strategy of the company, and the close

relationship with the management

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - yes, we ABSOLUTELY encourage it. we have operations

in malaysia, india, taiwan, vietnam, multiple sites in china, etc.

singapore is a very small office, so the finance opptys there are fewer

and farther between.

[ 10/11/12 8:15 PM] gracesung12:Thank you everyone, especially Marc/ Keith for answering most of my

questions. Im signing off now. Have a lovely weekend!

Page 22: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:15 PM] Nellie - Intel: You are welcome Grace. Have a good weekend

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] Keith - Intel: Thank you Grace. We enjoyed speaking to you

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] Marc - Intel: @grace - you too grace. thanks for the time.

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow I agree, and that is why many of my positions have been

regional/global in nature. The nice thing about Intel is that others have

chosen different career choices and been equally successful.

[ 10/11/12 8:18 PM] Vincent Lam:

@Marc. Thanks. that's good to hear. I am excited to gain exposures in

other rapidly developing countries. One last question (apology for

asking too many), how many associate does Intel plan to hire this

year? And when preparing for the interview, should the candidate

express interest in one particular area that he/she wants to work in, or

is it okay to stay flexible? •

[ 10/11/12 8:19 PM] Marc - Intel:

@vincent - keep the questions coming. if memory serves we're likely

to hire between 20-30 folks for this this year. when you interview, you

should have a priority of your top 3 locations and provide input on

what types of work you'd like to do (sales and marketing, r&d, mfg,

etc). keep in mind that not all functions are at all of our sites.

[ 10/11/12 8:21 PM] Vincent Lam:@marc. Thanks for answering. I really appreciate •this. That's it for all

my question.

[ 10/11/12 8:22 PM] Vincent Lam:Dear all, thank you very much for hosting this wonderful •online chat.

I am signing off now.

Page 23: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Mike - Intel:@Vincent. Thank you. Have a great evening. I hope to see your

resume.

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Keith - Intel: Thank you Vincent. We hope to see you application

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] wchow:

@Mike: thanks that is very informative. And another thing is that I like

the people aspect of working at regional -- get to work

with/persuade/influence country level executives to deliver quality

work, during both good and tough times. I have a final question - what

is the mobility of employees at Intel? Does the company encourage

employees to move around? (and especially since there are so many

finance roles to explore). Thanks

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Marc - Intel: @vincent - have a good weekend!

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Keith - Intel: Please fill out the survey as well

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Vincent Lam: Thanks. Have a good weekend everyone.

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Vincent Lam: @Keith. Where is the survey?

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] herman-tjahjadi:Thank you all. Really appreciate it. This chat has been very

informative. All the best to all of us.

[ 10/11/12 8:25 PM] Keith - Intel: Thank you Herman; wish you the best

[ 10/11/12 8:27 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow: We definately encourage people to contribute in as many

positions as possible. We also encourage people to move from site to

site and take on new positions. The option to move is up to the

empoyee.

[ 10/11/12 8:27 PM] Keith - Intel: @Carrie - Do you have any questions for our finance team?

[ 10/11/12 8:28 PM] wchow: @Mike: thanks

[ 10/11/12 8:28 PM] Mike - Intel:

@wchow. in order to gain a breadth of experience, a person either

needs to work at a large site (with many positions available), or be

willing to move to sites to gain valuable experience. Because of that,

we really do encourage people to move around and take many

positions over the span of their career

[ 10/11/12 8:30 PM] wchow:@Mike and everyone: thanks very much. I get a lot of valuable info

here at the chat

[ 10/11/12 8:31 PM] wchow: specifically about HK

Intel Asia Finance Career Chat

Tuesday

11-Oct-12

Vietnam

[ 10/11/12 6:41 PM] Etoulia - Intel: Hi there! We will be getting started in about 20 minutes.

[ 10/11/12 6:57 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hello - Welcome to the Intel Vietnam Finance booth - we look forward

to any questions you may have about Vietnam Finance and working at

Intel. As a quick introduction, I am the Vietnam Site Controller here

and will be happy to take your questions.

[ 10/11/12 7:01 PM] Bao Vo:Does Intel have any type of rotation program or leadership program

for MBA in Vietnam?

[ 10/11/12 7:02 PM] Jenny Mai:Hi Dave, I am Linh or Jenny? Can you tell me more about your

work/position at Intel?

[ 10/11/12 7:03 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thanks for your question Bao - we do have a rotation program here in

Finance to give our team members exposure to different areas of

finance including Operations Finance, Risk Management, Accounting,

Tax, and Trade. Rotations typically span 18-24 months

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hi Jenny - I am the Site Controller here in Vietnam with responsibility

over the finance operations here. To expand on your question, we

have positions in Operations Finance, Risk Management, Accounting,

Tax, and Trade in the Finance team here. We also have a rotation

program that allows you to move between these roles.

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Jenny Mai: Thank you, Dave.

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Dave - Intel: Sure Jenny - any other questions that I can answer for you?

Page 28: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Nga Nguyen:Hi Dave, my name is Nga Nguyen. what is your strategic long term

plan in Vietnam?

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] Bao Vo:

Going off on my question, I haven't found the application for the

rotation program in Vietnam. Is it included in the typical MBA Intern

program or separate from that?

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] Etoulia - Intel:

Bao- There isn't a separate application to the rotation program. If you

haven't already, please got to www.intel.com/jobs and apply to job

#630531.

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hi Nga, thanks for your question. Intel's largest assembly & test

factory was constructed and started operations in 2010. This factory

plays a key role on Intel's roadmap as it provides us the capacity to

continue to grow our business. It is the newest factory.

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] Dave - Intel:We have roughly 1,000 employees here and are continuing to hire.

The finance team is ~25 employees.

[ 10/11/12 7:14 PM] Nga Nguyen: Thank you Dave

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Jenny Mai:How long does an emloyee work under the same position before

he/she can rotate to other role?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Nga Nguyen:will you expand to Hanoi? or just want to recruite for the office in Ho

Chi Minh city?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Dave - Intel: Hi Jenny - rotations are typically 18-24 months in duration

[ 10/11/12 7:16 PM] Nga Nguyen:Is there any collaboration between finance team in Vietnam and

finance teams in other countries?

Page 29: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:17 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hi Nga, the finance team is located in HCMC. We do have sales

offices in Hanoi and HCMC, though we do not have finance positions

in those offices at this time

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hi Nga, yes, we have a lot of collaboration with finance teams in

China, Malaysia, Costa Rica, US, and other countries. This

occasionally includes traveling to these locations.

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] Dave - Intel:

One additional comment I should add is that there are opportunities to

rotate to other countries as well. For example, we currently have an

employee who is doing a 2 year rotation in the US in one of our

business unit finance teams.

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Nga Nguyen: That sounds good, thank you Dave

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Jenny Mai: How many MBAs does Intel hire a year?

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Bao Vo:What are the skills and attributes you value most for someone being

hired for this finance position?

[ 10/11/12 7:25 PM] Etoulia - Intel:Jenny- The number of MBAs we hire each year fluctuates based on

our business needs.

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] Jenny Mai:Thank you, Etoulia. Do you require any minimum years of experiences

for candidates?

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] Dave - Intel:

Hi Bao - good question - please feel free to look at the job description

that we have posted under the "Career Opportunities" location of this

chat room, but in short we look for candidates with strong analytical,

problem solving, influence, teamwork, business partnering and

communication skills.

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] Etoulia - Intel: Ideally, we are looking for candidates with 2-5 years of experience.

Page 30: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:30 PM] Bao Vo:

Piggybacking on Jenny's question, if my minimum experience is below

2 years, would that be considered as a disadvantage to me and

advantage for people who have more working experiences?

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] Jenny Mai: And is the experience necessarily related to finance or technology?

[ 10/11/12 7:34 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thanks Bao - in general, more is better, but we look at other items as

well including type of work experience, scholastic performance, extra-

curricular activities, and others

[ 10/11/12 7:34 PM] Nga Nguyen:

I worked for 3.5 years as a financial analyst at Viet Capital Asset

Management - a domestic company, now I want to work in a

multinational environment. I would like to know how diversified the

finance team in Vietnam?

[ 10/11/12 7:35 PM] Nga Nguyen: All people are Vietnamese or they come from different countries?

[ 10/11/12 7:36 PM] Dave - Intel:

Good question Jenny. Experience with Finance and Technology is

certainly a plus as it directly relates to our business and the roles we

have here in the finance team.

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thanks Bao - Intel is a very diverse company. The Vietnam site has

employees from many parts of the world including the Philippines,

Costa Rica, China, the US, and of course, Vietnam. In addition to this,

there are opportunities to travel to other countries to experience

different cultures.

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Bao Vo: I have a question regarding integration

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Nga Nguyen: Thank you Dave for your answer

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Etoulia - Intel: What is your question Bao?

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] Bao Vo:

so I have been educated in the US since undergraduate, and I do

have a little experiences, so I do not know how Intel will integrate the

working differences between people work in the US and people work

in Vietnam

Page 31: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] Bao Vo: since there is a gap in between

[ 10/11/12 7:45 PM] Nga Nguyen:How does Intel support people to rotate to other countries to work? In

which conditions, one person may be chosen for such program?

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thanks Bao - actually we have many employees that have either

worked or studied oversea in both our finance and operations teams.

As one example, we have sent 3 groups of engineers over to the

United States to complete the last 2 years of their undergraduate

degree at US Universities. That said, for integration, we do not

distinguish between employees that have been educated (or have

[ 10/11/12 7:52 PM] Bao Vo: thanks Dave!

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Wade - Intel:

Hey Nguyen - I'm Wade. I work in MY and have been in different

countires. Wanted to add my thoughts, will let Dave add more....Intel

Finance believe is the value of roations - typicall every 2 to 3 years. As

people experience builds up, the opportunity to rotation around

groups, site and countires increase.

[ 10/11/12 7:54 PM] Nga Nguyen: Hi Wade, that makes sense for me

[ 10/11/12 7:54 PM] Nga Nguyen: I have another question

[ 10/11/12 7:54 PM] Wade - Intel:

Nguyen - more on this question..conditions. Typically based on

personal interest, skill set / performance and job / role need. As your

skills and experience increase, your ability to expand into other sites /

locations do as well

[ 10/11/12 7:54 PM] Wade - Intel: hope this helps. welcome others thoughts from Intel VT

[ 10/11/12 7:55 PM] Nga Nguyen:

As I know, Intel is the largest voluntary purchaser of green power, and

you have a program to teach students and teachers how to use

computers. I would be proud to work for such company. I wonder if

you have similar programs in Vietnam?

[ 10/11/12 7:56 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thanks Wade - you summarized nicely. Only thing that I would add is

that Intel Finance does value mobility, meaning people who are willing

to relocate to other countries to work if the opportunity presents itself.

Page 32: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:00 PM] Etoulia - Intel:Absolutely! We have a program called Intel Involved, which is our

global community service organization.

[ 10/11/12 8:00 PM] Wade - Intel:

@ Nguyen - again, i'm going to let Dave provide local VT flavor to this

question, but what I can say is that this is a corporate imparative and

philosophy. We take this type community engagement very seriouse

and i'd expect nothing different from the VT team. I know in Malaysia

for example, we have a number of programs running with the local

school system on digital education, government initiatives as well as

Green sponsored programs around solor etc. We are very proud of

our LEED profiles

[ 10/11/12 8:01 PM] Nga Nguyen: that sounds great

[ 10/11/12 8:01 PM] Nga Nguyen: thank you!

[ 10/11/12 8:02 PM] Thu - Intel:

hi Nga, thanks for your interest in Intel CSR, i am Le, HRBP

supporting Finance team overhere. we do have a lot of Intel involved

or community activities, some examples of those in Vietnam site: we

recently installed the solar panels on our office roof to create power for

office and factory use, tree planting, school painting, beach clean up,

and many other programs to educate children and teachers of

computer use, traffic safety, etc. we target 40k hours of voluntary

communities for VNM 2012

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] Nga Nguyen: wow, that's very impressive

[ 10/11/12 8:05 PM] Thu - Intel:Nga, for more info on our community activities or green environment

programs, you can go to the presentation in the Vietnam overview tab

[ 10/11/12 8:06 PM] Nga Nguyen: Thank you Thu

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Nga Nguyen:Can you describe briefly for me about the recruitment process at Intel

in Vietnam?

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Nga Nguyen: What are your next steps?

[ 10/11/12 8:12 PM] Etoulia - Intel: Any other questions?

[ 10/11/12 8:12 PM] Nga Nguyen: Thank you Etoulia

[ 10/11/12 8:13 PM] Etoulia - Intel: You're welcome!

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] Nga Nguyen: I think I'm good

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] Dave - Intel: Thanks for your questions and interest Nga

[ 10/11/12 8:15 PM] Jenny Mai:Does Intel Vietnam offer internship opportunities for Vietnamese

students currently studying in the U.S?

[ 10/11/12 8:18 PM] Dave - Intel:

Yes, we do have internship opportunities in Intel Vietnam Finance,

and those would be available to candidates from either local schools

or international schools. Internship opportunities are available in Ops

Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Tax, and Trade.

[ 10/11/12 8:19 PM] Jenny Mai: Thank you, Dave. So, how long is the internship and when is it?

[ 10/11/12 8:20 PM] Etoulia - Intel:

If you will be in Vietnam for the summer, you could certainly apply for

an internship there. We will be posting those types of opportunities

soon on the Intel Jobs site.

[ 10/11/12 8:21 PM] Dave - Intel:

Thank Etoulia and to add to your response, we generally have 2-3

interns working in Vietnam Finance at any particular time. Duration of

Page 34: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:22 PM] Nga Nguyen: Thank you Dave, Etoulia, Wade and Thu for your information

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Nga Nguyen: I learned a lot today

[ 10/11/12 8:23 PM] Nga Nguyen: I don't have any further question so far

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Dave - Intel: Thanks Nga

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Etoulia - Intel: Absolutely, glad to help.

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Jenny Mai: So, how can I apply for the internship position since now?

[ 10/11/12 8:24 PM] Nga Nguyen: Have nice day!

[ 10/11/12 8:25 PM] Dave - Intel: You too Nga. Thanks.

[ 10/11/12 8:26 PM] Etoulia - Intel:

Jenny, if you go to www.intel.com.jobs the site will show you what

opportunities are available now. Please stay tuned for updates on

internship opportunities.

[ 10/11/12 8:27 PM] Etoulia - Intel:You can also check out some of our social media sites as well. The

links are shown at the bottom of the booth.

[ 10/11/12 8:28 PM] Dave - Intel: We have another 30 mins before we wrap up. Any other questions?

[ 10/11/12 8:28 PM] Jenny Mai:Thank you, Etoulia. So, do you often have requirements (minimum

GPA or working experience) for candidates applying for internships?

[ 10/11/12 8:30 PM] Dave - Intel:Thanks Jenny - GPA requirement is 3.0. For work experience, we

allow for more flexibility for intern candidates.

[ 10/11/12 8:33 PM] Jenny Mai:Thank you, Dave. I will look for the internship posting on Intel website

and social media sites.

[ 10/11/12 8:34 PM] Dave - Intel: Sounds great Jenny - thanks for your interest in Intel Vietnam Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:35 PM] Jenny Mai: Thank you so much for the information session.

[ 10/11/12 8:32 PM] Wade - Intel:Under Malaysia overview, you'll find Career oppotunity. Can also get

[ 10/11/12 8:32 PM] herman-tjahjadi: Oh, I see. I will do that, Wade. Thank you very much

[ 10/11/12 8:33 PM] Wade - Intel:You're looking for Malaysia specific jobs. The web site should also

direct you to indicate intern vs full time

[ 10/11/12 8:34 PM] Wade - Intel:BTW -- we had a number of summer interns this last summer from

different schools, great propram and experiences.

[ 10/11/12 8:34 PM] Wade - Intel:@ Herman - quick question...what school are you currently studying

[ 10/11/12 8:35 PM] herman-tjahjadi:My preferences are Malaysia & Hong Kong. So, I should apply twice?

[ 10/11/12 8:35 PM] herman-tjahjadi:I am with the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto,

Page 38: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:39 PM] Wade - Intel:Sounds like a great school, im sure it's starting to get a little chilli this

time of year :)

[ 10/11/12 8:39 PM] herman-tjahjadi: Thank you, Wade. Really appreciate it.

[ 10/11/12 8:39 PM] herman-tjahjadi: yeah, it's already 4 degree Celcius (and it's only mid October).

[ 10/11/12 8:40 PM] Wade - Intel: did you want to ask me what the temp is in Malaysia curently? :)

[ 10/11/12 8:41 PM] herman-tjahjadi:oh, one more thing. I don't have work permit for working (sumner

internship in Malaysia). Will Intel help me with the work permit?

[ 10/11/12 8:41 PM] herman-tjahjadi: I think it's around 30 degree celcius in Malaysia, right :)

[ 10/11/12 8:41 PM] Wade - Intel: I'll take easy question first.

[ 10/11/12 8:42 PM] Wade - Intel: Yep - between 30 to 32 degrees... nice and sunny

[ 10/11/12 8:42 PM] Wade - Intel:on right to work. Unfortunately, we don't sponsor Interns right to work /

visas. So we do require the right to work.

[ 10/11/12 8:42 PM] Wade - Intel: Sorry, not a fun answer, but hope you understand

Page 39: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:43 PM] herman-tjahjadi:no problem :) so for visa sponsporship, it's only for full-time position

(after I graduate)?

[ 10/11/12 8:46 PM] Wade - Intel:

Intel's policy is requiring the right to work in the hiring location, so

even for ful time, we'd require a right to work . We do work to support

mobility opportunities as part of our overall growth and develoment

efforts, but those will be based on experience, job opportunity, and

pesonal preferences.

[ 10/11/12 8:47 PM] Wade - Intel:hope this clarifies. Candidates are required to have right to work in the

hiring locaiton - intern and full time positions.

[ 10/11/12 8:48 PM] herman-tjahjadi: I see :) No problem.

[ 10/11/12 8:48 PM] herman-tjahjadi: Thank you for the information. Appreciate it. All the best to all of us

[ 10/11/12 8:48 PM] Wade - Intel: no problem. let me know if you have any more quesitons.

Page 43: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:04 PM] Suyash:

Thank you for hosting this chat session. I am a 2nd year MBA

candidate. I would like to learn about the finance opportunities in

India, specifically in Treasury.

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Abhishek: Hi! I am Abhishek Sharma. Thanks for organising this event.

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Arun - Intel:

Yes, we do have a large treasury team in India that does backend

work as well as some cash management. We hire in to the team from

time to time.

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] JR - Intel:All: We have a couple of controllers from Intel Bangalore in the room

with us.. now is a great time to ask them questions.

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] JR - Intel: Hi, Abhishek; you're most welcome.

[ 10/11/12 7:06 PM] Manasi:Thank you for the chat session. One quick question. Does Intel (India)

provide MBA internships for Indian citizens currently studying in USA?

[ 10/11/12 7:07 PM] Abhishek:

I am currently pursuing my MBA from AGSM, Sydney and came to

know about the opportunities in Intel Finance through our career

services

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] Abhishek:I really have liked the kind of work Intel Finance does and especially

the opportunities the role offers

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] JR - Intel: @Abhishek I'm glad the connection with AGSM worked for you.

[ 10/11/12 7:08 PM] nitinvig:

Hi, i am a 2nd year MBA candidate in US. I wanted to know whether

Intel looks for prequisite skills in terms of industry knowledge or

functional experience in making recruiting decisions?

Page 44: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Abhishek: I have applied for the position already few days back

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] JR - Intel:@Abhishek I agree.. Finance at Intel is different than most

companies.. much more robust.. not just closing the books and ROI.

[ 10/11/12 7:09 PM] Arun - Intel:

On Manasi's question, we dont have a program where we relocate

folks from US schools for India internships. However, if there is a fit for

someone who is planning to be in India, we can consider offering an

internship.

[ 10/11/12 7:10 PM] Vasant: What is the target career level for positions in Intel Finance India?

[ 10/11/12 7:11 PM] JR - Intel:

@Vasant: We are looking to grow our management pipeline

throughout greater Asia. Typically people in Finance rotate through a

variety of positions every couple of years.

[ 10/11/12 7:11 PM] Amith:

Hi ! I am Amith, 2nd year MBA student from IIMB currently on

exchange in McGill, Canada . Thanks for organizing the event. There

are four verticals in the job position. Do we get to choose which

vertical we would be interviewed or would it be a general interview for

all the verticals?

[ 10/11/12 7:11 PM] Abhishek:Hey JR, I was wondering if you could briefly describe the typical day of

a Strategic Finance Associate

[ 10/11/12 7:11 PM] Sunil - Intel:

Hi Nitinvig while we hire recent college graduates, having prior

industry background is a plus especially considering R&D focus in

India

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] JR - Intel:

@Vasant: And they often get promoted when they rotate. So someone

might rotate through different disciplines, like cost, revenue, capital,

etc.

[ 10/11/12 7:12 PM] nitinvig:Thanks Sunil, but what's perspective on prior functional knowledge, do

you typically hire people who have little or no finance background?

Page 45: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] JR - Intel:

@Vasant: and they would change 'customer' organizations at the

same time.. moving for example between sales & marketing,

technology & manufacturing, software, etc.

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] saurabh:

Hi, I'm a second year MBA student from India currently on exchange

to Canada, and have prior experience in software R&D in India. Could

you let us know if that background is of any help in the finance jobs?

[ 10/11/12 7:13 PM] JR - Intel:@Vasant: then they become a controller, and there's a pyramid of

controllers as well, all the way to CFO.

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Vasant: Is pursuing the CFA designation helpful in Intel Finance roles?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Manasi:

Hi Arun, Thank you for the reply. To be more specific, I am a first year

student at Willamette University, USA. I have an unrestricted right to

work in India, being an Indian citizen and the school allows to apply for

internships in home countries. I attended the Intel, Portland

information session and they recommended that I should ask the Intel,

India recruiters whether they have Internship positions available. Am I

eligible for it?

[ 10/11/12 7:15 PM] Sunil - Intel:Hi Nitinvig we do hire finance graduates without prior work experience

but depends on available positions

[ 10/11/12 7:16 PM] Arun - Intel:

Manasi, yes you would be eligible. We dont do internships in large

numbers, but can include if you are interested. We are located in

Bangalore.

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] Manasi:Thanks for the information Arun. I would be intrested in applying for

the internship position. Could you guide me how to go about it?

Page 46: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:18 PM] Suyash:Could you talk a little about the opportunities in the project finance

roles and the type of skills that you are looking for?

[ 10/11/12 7:19 PM] Sunil - Intel: Hi Vasant - CFA certification can definitely help

[ 10/11/12 7:19 PM] Suyash:I am also interested in learning how the finance team is structured in

India and how it is aligned with global teams at Intel.

[ 10/11/12 7:19 PM] Pratyush Singhania:

Hi JR, Can you tell us more about the Operations Finance area,

especially about the strategic analysis part? I am interested in the

operations finance area.

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] nitinvig:Hi, Could you pl.s tell me more about the career paths that people

take in operations finance fucntion?

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] Sunil - Intel:

Hi Suyash - project finance roles can be strategic or process based

role so it depends on the scope but in general skills required are

project management, partnership, and influencing thru clear finance

agenda

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] Arun - Intel:

Manasi - Suggest you send your resume to JOhn

([email protected]) and call out your specific interest in an

internship and timing.

[ 10/11/12 7:21 PM] JR - Intel:

@Abhishek: I'd say it is a blend of analysis and influence. Typically

the strategic analyst works on projects that are important to the

company'sdirection. The influence portion is pretty important as well...

over time you build a network that's critical to influencing decisions.

Page 47: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] JR - Intel:@Abhishek: so the rotation process really helps build those

relationships.

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Abhishek: Thanks for the reply JR

[ 10/11/12 7:22 PM] Abhishek: thats great !

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Abhishek: I used to work for STMicroelectronics for 5.5 years prior to my MBA

[ 10/11/12 7:23 PM] Abhishek: and I know what kind of business Intel is in exactly

[ 10/11/12 7:24 PM] Shashank:@Arun, you mentioned that the Treasury team in India does mostly

backend work. Could you please elaborate a bit on that?

[ 10/11/12 7:24 PM] Abhishek:however the whole idea of being analysing things from the other side

is exciting !

[ 10/11/12 7:25 PM] Manasi:

Thanks a lot Arun! I would definately send my resume to Mr. John.

Can I refer you in the email? If yes, can I know your full name and

position?

Page 48: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:26 PM] JR - Intel:@Abhishek yes, I agree, working at Intel has been a fabulous

experience.. I've been here quite a few years.

[ 10/11/12 7:26 PM] Abhishek:What are the domains through which we have the opportunity to rotate

through ?

[ 10/11/12 7:27 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: Jobs in Operations Finance include rotation through a

variety of roles, every couple of years. Cost, Revenue, Capital,

Budgets & Planning.

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] Arun - Intel:Manasi - yes. I am the INdai Site Controller and head all of Finance in

India.

[ 10/11/12 7:28 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: The order isn't pre-determined; it's a matter of what's open,

what you are ready for, etc. At the same time you rotate through

various customer groups, building breadth and also relationships all

over the company.

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] JR - Intel:@Nitinvig, those rotations are often (not always) accompanied by

promotions, eventually to Controller, then Sr.Controller.

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] Sunil - Intel:

Hi Suyash India finance team supports wide variety of functions and

responsibilities include competitive analyses, new product

development strategies, capital analysis, financial planning and

analysis and more.

[ 10/11/12 7:29 PM] JR - Intel: @Nitinvig: "

Page 49: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:30 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: We also find that the Operations themselves (Sales &

Marketing, Technology & Manufacturing, Intel Capital, Software &

Services, etc., etc. hire people from Finance.

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] Manasi:

Thanks Arun. I look forward to applying for an internship and working

with Intel. Thanks a lot for your time and valuable guidance. I

appreciate it. It was great talking to you!

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] nitinvig: thanks JR..thats was really useful

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] Aseem: Hi Sunil - does the India finance team also have an M&A function?

[ 10/11/12 7:31 PM] Arun - Intel:Folks, three are a lot of questions coming and we may be mising a

few. if you hav enot received a response, pls. ask again.

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] Amith:

Hi Arun, there are four verticals in the job position. Do we get to

choose which vertical we would be interviewed or would it be a

general interview for all the verticals?

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] JR - Intel:

All: I think a good clarification is that at Intel, the Finance function is

more robust than in many companies.. we have a LOT more impact on

business decisions and on very technical decisions. We are counted

on to ensure the broad Intel view, not just a particular divisions, point

of view. And also counted on to look at the long term.

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] Ambition:

Hi there, this is Shailesh. Basically I am from India. I am a student of

Bachelor of Commerce and have completed M.B.A. in finance. As of

now , I have total 6+ yrs of exp in Finance (revenue Mgmt, Financial

Planning and Analysis etc.) And recently i was wkg in KL, Malaysia as

an Asst. Mgr. Finance. My question is in which country am i eligible to

apply?

Page 50: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:32 PM] JR - Intel:All: In the end, we grow great general managers.. not just great

Finance people.

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] Ambition: Post degree 6 yrs of exp.

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] Shashank:@Arun, you mentioned that the Treasury team in India does mostly

backend work. Could you please elaborate a bit on that?

[ 10/11/12 7:33 PM] Arun - Intel:

Aseem - We have an Intel Capital Group that is also active in India.

We have a Finance Manager position that supports this group. M&A

activity is not really driven out of India, more equity investments.

[ 10/11/12 7:34 PM] JR - Intel:

@ Ambition: You can apply to any country where you have a "right to

work." Intel does not sponsor visas for Finance, as we do for a few

very specialized technical jobs (in science or engineering, for

example.)

[ 10/11/12 7:35 PM] nitinvig:@JR, how much of a role does finance play in making decision on

product roadmaps or launch?

[ 10/11/12 7:36 PM] Arun - Intel:

Shashank - Treasury in India does a wide variety of work, not just

backend. We hold regional responsibility. Cash Management involves

hedging, etc - but usually how we do that and what we do pretty much

gets determined centrally and we have standard ways. Backend

involves process work and execution of treasury related activities.

[ 10/11/12 7:37 PM] JR - Intel:@Nitinvig: Finance plays a huge role in influencing major decisions.

Today that is primarily in the US but we want to grow that role in India.

Page 51: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:38 PM] JR - Intel:

@Ambition: This program (‘Return to Home Country’) is specifically

aimed hiring (typically) Asian nationals who are getting their MBA, with

intent to return home as local hires. We want to grow local

management strength throughout Asia and reduce our reliance on US

expats.

[ 10/11/12 7:38 PM] JR - Intel:

@Ambition: There are other circumstances beyond citizenship where

one can have a right to work somewhere but, whatever the vehicle;

the pre-existing right to work is a gate to even being considered for

this program.

[ 10/11/12 7:38 PM] Ambition:

this might be a dumb question, but can u elobrate bit what do u mean

by "right to work". E.g: I am interested in Hong Kong or Malaysia

however my Malaysia work permit got cancelled when I resigned from

the company and came back to Pune. So with the help of ur

appointment letter can i apply visa for Hong Kong or Malaysia?

Thanks for ur patience.

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Ambition: Pune is in India

[ 10/11/12 7:39 PM] Shashank:

@Arun, Thanks! So that means that decisions on strategic

investments and Cash management are made in India and the

decisions and step by step procedures are not just handed over from

somewhere else. right?

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] nitinvig:@JR, thanks! so that means people within operations finance are

assigned to particular accounts to manage?

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] JR - Intel:

@Ambition.. My understanding is that you have to have the pre-

existing right to work in the country.. we won't sponsor visas and

would not make an offer without the right to work already in place.

[ 10/11/12 7:40 PM] Ambition: got it. Thanks a lot

Page 52: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] JR - Intel: @Ambition. You're welcome. Sorry if it is bad news.

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Amitk:

HI SUNIL, AS ALREADY MENTIONED IN THE CHAT REGARDING

THE INTERVEW PROCESS, PHONE INTERVIEWS WILL BE

CONDUCTED BY INTEL INDIA OR USA EMPLOYEES

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Vasant:What is the requisition that people should apply to in order to be

considered for jobs in India?

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] JR - Intel:@Nitinvig: Yes, you work with one of the 'operations' divisions for 2-3

years a time, then rotate.

[ 10/11/12 7:41 PM] Arun - Intel:

To add to John on Nitin's question. On product roadmap decisions,

more influencing happens in the US but we have a team that is geting

built and integrated with those US teams - so we have some influence

on products where India is involved. Influence opportunity in India

extends beyond the product roadmap - we work with hte Sales and

Marketing Group to drive India revenue, we have a tax and trade team

that works on external influencing etc.

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] Vasant:What is defined as having the unrestricted right to work in India? Does

it have to be Indian citizenship?

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] SouvikMandal:

Hello - My name is Souvik and I am a final year MBA candidate

(Willamette University, USA, May '12) focused in Operations. I am

planning to return India after finishing my MBA here and looking for

entry level opportunities in the field of Operations as business analyst/

management trainee programs or similar. I know this session is

concerned towards finance but it would be great help if I could get

some leads towards my interest. Thanks for organizing this.

Page 53: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] Abhishek:

I don't have any Finance background, however, I have a strong

experience in R&D in semiconductors. Does that enhance/decrease

my chances to apply for this role?. I am really excited about the

opportunity, therefore, I have already applied. So my next question is

about "how long will the team take in screening the applications?"

[ 10/11/12 7:42 PM] JR - Intel: @Vasant: The requisition number for India is #630530

[ 10/11/12 7:43 PM] JR - Intel:@Abhishek. We actually want the strong technical experience. If you

are getting your MBA in Finance, that's a great combination.

[ 10/11/12 7:43 PM] JR - Intel:

@Abhishek: We will begin screening interested candidates next week

and begin scheduling interviews the following week. After successfully

completing two phone interviews, candidates will travel to an Intel

campus near their current location for an onsite interview.

[ 10/11/12 7:44 PM] nitinvig:@JR, just curious to know whether yoi have already preferenced

candidates for 1st round interviews?

[ 10/11/12 7:44 PM] JR - Intel:@Vasant: You don't have to be a citizen, although that's the easiest

approach. If you're not a citizen, visas can be complex.

[ 10/11/12 7:45 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: We have not.. this is our first try at doing this (virtual chat).

At the same time we are also posting at schools, in some cases

sending people to schools. We're gathering all the resumes for review

in the next few days.

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] yatishkumar:

Hi, this is Yatish. I have recently completed my MBA Finance with

strong academic background, looking forward for a career in finance

at intel.

Page 54: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] Abhishek:

@JR - Thats great to hear ! I have been taking up courses in Finance

in my MBA, I have done core course in Finance and I have electives -

Corporate Finance and Financial Statement Analysis in sessions and

"Financial Strategy" next session. I am graduating in April next year

..Is that fine ?

[ 10/11/12 7:46 PM] Aseem:

thanks Arun, do equity investment roles at intel capital also come

under the overarching finance function or only the finance support for

the intel capital group

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] Amitk:JR - I learned that intel is focusing on it services sector, do you think

prior experience in that wouldbe helpful in this requisition

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] Shashank:

@Arun, Thanks! So that means that decisions on strategic

investments and Cash management are made in India and the

decisions and step by step procedures are not just handed over from

somewhere else. right?

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] nitinvig:

@JR, thanks, it seems like the finance operations in India is more

market-oriented as they are aligned with sales-marketing teams and

other segments. whats your perspective on that?

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] Ambition:does technical degree is a prerequisite to secure a Finance job in

India?

[ 10/11/12 7:47 PM] Al - Intel:Yatish-You are correct. We are looking for smart people that have a

high desire to contribute and self development

[ 10/11/12 7:48 PM] Arun - Intel:

Aseem - The finance support falls in finance. Intel Capital is a

business group. Operations finance basically partners with various biz

units.

Page 55: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:49 PM] JR - Intel:@nitinvig: we have a number of groups in India, there is R&D, SMG,

Intel Capital, and of course Accounting.

[ 10/11/12 7:49 PM] yatishkumar: @AI-Intel, could you help me on this?

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Navin:

JR / Arun / Sunil/ AI: Would really appreciate it if you could talk a little

bit your own backgrounds, how long you have been at Intel Finance

and how you have grown with the role

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Al - Intel:

Ambition- As a technology company, a technical background has

advantages but there are many finance employees with business or

economic background, We believe smart people can learn the

technical side of the business

[ 10/11/12 7:50 PM] Ambition: that is really a big relief. thanks

[ 10/11/12 7:51 PM] yatishkumar:@AI-Intel, are there any opportunities for freshers as of now in

bangalore??

[ 10/11/12 7:52 PM] JR - Intel:

@SouvikMandal This is a hard one for me to answer as I'm only

familiar with the Finance side of recruiting. But I can definitely say that

Finance at Intel grows great general managers.. not just Finance

people and we lose a lot of our people to go work in the operations...

which we view as a good thing.

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Al - Intel:Yatish-We are open to internship candidates in BA. We expect

candidates to have the proper work visa

Page 56: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Vasant: what do people do in operations?

[ 10/11/12 7:53 PM] Ambition: I would like to know more about Revenue Mgmt at Intel. Thanks

[ 10/11/12 7:54 PM] nitinvig:@Arun, are there opportunities to get assigned to international

locations within APAC during the rotation period?

[ 10/11/12 7:55 PM] JR - Intel:

@Navin: My background is not the norm: I've got 10-15 years each in

IT (started as mainframe assembler language programmer.. worked

up to running the Finance Info systems team), 10-15 years in Finance

and Accounting (at a regional bank.. from budgets to cost accounting

to Treasury) and now 10 years in HR, primarily in Mgmt/Leadership

development) Not a typical Finance person here.

[ 10/11/12 7:55 PM] yatishkumar:@AI-Intel, I am looking for full time opportunities. I dont have any work

visa...

[ 10/11/12 7:55 PM] Arun - Intel:

Ambition - I would not call it "Revenue Management". We have a

finance team partnering and working closely with the Sales and

Marketing Group on various activities - market growth, investment,

new biz etc.

[ 10/11/12 7:56 PM] Al - Intel:

Vasant- There are finance employee that support the operations. In

addition to Budget and Planning, finance works with the business to

improve decision making

[ 10/11/12 7:56 PM] SouvikMandal:

With my engineering and IT background and similar experience in

manufacturing industry and business consulting I adore the

operational management. Good to hear that people move away from

finance into operations.

Page 57: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 7:56 PM] Navin: @ JR - That is very interesting!

[ 10/11/12 7:57 PM] JR - Intel:@Navin: Thank you. I agree. I think it's important to plan one's career,

but you never know what chance will bring.

[ 10/11/12 7:58 PM] Shashank:

@Arun, Thanks! So that means that decisions on strategic

investments and Cash management are made in India and the

decisions and step by step procedures are not just handed over from

somewhere else. right?

[ 10/11/12 7:58 PM] Navin: Thanks JR.

[ 10/11/12 8:00 PM] Arun - Intel:

Nitin - Yes, once you are part of Intel, you will have the opportunity to

compete for other jobs in eth region if they are open to non- localk

folks. We have many instances of folks from India that have gone on

assignment to other places in APAC as well as the US and vice-versa.

I myself did my udergrad in India but MS and MBA in the US, worked

at Intel US and am now in India as Country Controller.

[ 10/11/12 8:00 PM] JR - Intel: @Manasi... I'll remember your name when it comes in the email. :-)

[ 10/11/12 8:01 PM] Arun - Intel:Shashank - Intel has consistent policies globally. The India team

executes here and engages with the global team.

[ 10/11/12 8:02 PM] Abhishek: So this rotation in within Intel India or Intel as a whole ?

Page 58: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:03 PM] Pratyush Singhania:

Hi JR, it might be a trivial question but I want to know more about the

work culture in terms of openness and other factors like accountability

etc

[ 10/11/12 8:03 PM] JR - Intel:

@Abhishek... It is a mix. Most rotation is within a country, but people

do rotate through the region and to the US and other regions (Europe,

Latin America.)

[ 10/11/12 8:03 PM] nitinvig:

@Arun, you have an interesting background. just out of curiousity, you

got hired as a technical person at Intel US beacuse US office doesn't

sponsor MBAs?

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] JR - Intel:@Abhishek: For instance we have a person from Malaysia who is

currently running our shared services center in Costa Rica.

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] Al - Intel:

Navin- my background, MBA, worked at PWC . Past assignments in

Business Finance, Internal Audit, Controller Roles and Group P and L

roles

[ 10/11/12 8:04 PM] Sunil - Intel:Hi Navin - I am finance controller for Intel Architecture Grp India. I

have been with Intel for ~14 yrs in variety of roles

[ 10/11/12 8:05 PM] Abhishek: @JR : ok !

[ 10/11/12 8:05 PM] Abhishek: Thanks!

Page 59: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:06 PM] nitinvig:@JR, how often do you hire fresh MBA grads from US. Is this a recent

trend?

[ 10/11/12 8:06 PM] JR - Intel:

@Navin: I forgot to add; MBA from UCLA, Worked for Arthur

Andersen for a few years. Was supposed to go to Saudi to help build

a hospital and the job fell through, so they sent me to Oregon, USA

instead. One never knows!

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] Abhishek:

Sorry but I am not clear about the organisational structure in Intel and

where do this team fits in. Could you please clear this? How is it

different or similar to Intel Capital ?

[ 10/11/12 8:07 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: Almost all of Intel hires people right out of college, either

undergrad or graduate school. But we want to jump-start the

management pipeline in greater Asia, so we started this particular

program.

[ 10/11/12 8:08 PM] JR - Intel:@Nitinvig: Thus the requirements for experience between schools and

the right to work.

[ 10/11/12 8:09 PM] yatishkumar:@JR-Intel, could you tell me about opprotunities for MBA Finance

Freshers in India?? And where can I apply for it??

[ 10/11/12 8:10 PM] SouvikMandal:

@JR Would it be possible to forward my resume to the Operations

management division in India as I am really hoping to return to India

and start my career with a tech company like Intel. I had the

opportunity to visit the facility here in Hillsboro, Oregon and it is

definitely mindblowing.

[ 10/11/12 8:10 PM] JR - Intel:

@Abhishek: Intel is huge with many divisions.. Finance sits in all

those divisions, a pyramid of analyts reporting to a controller. This

program is recruiting for all those little pyramids. I hope that helps. It's

complex.

Page 60: Intel Asia Finance Career Chat · Intel Asia Finance Career Chat Tuesday 11-Oct-12 Hong Kong [ 10/11/12 6:52 PM] Mike - Intel: Hello and welcome to Intel’s Asia Pacific Finance

[ 10/11/12 8:11 PM] Manasi: Thanks JR :)

[ 10/11/12 8:11 PM] Abhishek: Yaa that clears my doubt, thanks !

[ 10/11/12 8:12 PM] Arun - Intel:

Arun background: B.Tech from IIT, Madras (Civil Engg.). Moved to the

US to get my MS (Env Engg.), then worked in Consulting for several

years. Quit my job, did my MBA full time at the UCLA Anderson

School of Management. Joined Intel in Finance. First job at Intel

(Santa Clara) was as "Product Cost Analyst" for all Mobile products.

Then rotated to be the Fin Manager for our Ethernet Switching

Business.

[ 10/11/12 8:13 PM] JR - Intel:

@yatishkumar: When you apply, put at the top of the resume that

you're looking for an internship. that should help. (Did I understand

your question correctly?)

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] JR - Intel:@SouvikMandal For jobs in Ops, the best approach is to simply go to

the jobs at Intel website and look for jobs there.

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] SouvikMandal: Thanks

[ 10/11/12 8:14 PM] Arun - Intel:

Arun Background (continued) - Came on assignment to INdia to setup

and develop the Operations Finance team, went back to the US to be

Intel's half of the CFO for our JV - IMFT. I then became adventurous

and left INtel o go becom ethe General Manager of hte Semiconductor

Business at an Indian Services Company, then came back to Intel to

be the Country Controller in India :).

[ 10/11/12 8:15 PM] Navin: Thanks Arun!

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] JR - Intel:@yatishkumar.. If I'm reading right, a 'fresher' is someone who is

between 1st and 2nd year in MBA school. Is this correct?

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] Abhishek:

Many Thanks to the Intel Team here!. Thanks for clarifying my doubts.

Looking forward to hear from you guys soon in regards to my

application :)

[ 10/11/12 8:16 PM] JR - Intel: @Abhishek: Awesome! Best of luck.

[ 10/11/12 8:17 PM] Abhishek: Thanks JR !

[ 10/11/12 8:18 PM] yatishkumar: @JR-Intel- No, I am already completed both 1st and 2nd year.

[ 10/11/12 8:18 PM] JR - Intel: @yatishkumar: Ahh! Well then, this is probably the program for you.

[ 10/11/12 8:19 PM] JR - Intel:

@Yatishkumar: We are hiring people who have recently comnpleted

MBA's, with a few years of experience between degrees. Preferably

technical experience.

[ 10/11/12 8:20 PM] yatishkumar: @JR-Intel- My background is Finance(BBM)

[ 10/11/12 8:32 PM] JR - Intel: @Pratyush.. are there other questions about culture you might have?>

[ 10/11/12 8:34 PM] Pratyush Singhania:

Yes. What are the factors that you consider while apprasing an

employees performance. It becomes important as the performance

measurement is closely related to the work culture.

[ 10/11/12 8:36 PM] Shashank:

Thanks Arun... I have already applied to the India requisition number.

Though I would want to work in SG but I have work permit only for

India.I graduate in Dec 2012. When are we expected to join in case

we clear the interviews?

[ 10/11/12 8:36 PM] JR - Intel:

@Pratyush: We look at individual contribution, as well as performance

relative to peers. Each person's job is unique and managers typically

have conversations about performance frequently, and they should

also be having career discussions at least quarterly.

[ 10/11/12 8:38 PM] nitinvig:@Arun..just wanted to have your take on the difference in culture and

work life balance at Intel vis-a-vis your consulting experience?

[ 10/11/12 8:38 PM] JR - Intel:

@Pratyush: We do have an annual performance assessment process

but the whole company has been shifting to a year-round process. It

helps keep everyone aligned and keeps the company more agile..

abile to respond to changes in market, etc.

[ 10/11/12 8:42 PM] Pratyush Singhania:

Thanks for your replies JR. I just wanted to understand the work

culture at intel (example: focus on accountability) and its effect on

performance expectation. So as to understand what Intel values.

[ 10/11/12 8:42 PM] JR - Intel:@Nitinvig: Certainly less hours than I had put in, in the consulting

world.

[ 10/11/12 8:43 PM] Arun - Intel:

@Nitin: I was in Engg. Consulting, so probably not what you are

seeking to understand. However, I have friends in Mgmt Consulting.

There is a big difference in WLE (Work Life Effectiveness) in my

opinion between Consulting and Intel. I have found Intel to be a greta

balance in terms of quality of work/opportunity and personal life. It is

what has kept me here all this time. Culturally, Intel is a results

oriented company and we push ourselves hard.

[ 10/11/12 8:44 PM] JR - Intel:

@Pratyush: There is a focus on accountability, but that's almost a

given, a baseline. What distinguishes people above the norm is the

impact that you have, whether it's saving money, influencing a

decision, etc.

[ 10/11/12 8:44 PM] nitinvig:@JR, sure but do you get more face-to-face with clients in your role at

Intel?

[ 10/11/12 8:45 PM] Pratyush Singhania: OK. So it is impact driven :)

[ 10/11/12 8:46 PM] JR - Intel:

@Pratyush Also, promotions are not done by just one manager.. there

is a lot of discussion with peer managers and 2nd level managers....

the last thing you want to do is promote someone prematurely,

because then the person may not do well conmpared to peers. So it's

well thought out. In all the companies I've worked in, it's the best

process I've seen so far.

[ 10/11/12 8:47 PM] JR - Intel:@nitinvig: I'd say the F:F time is the same. At Andersen, the

philosophy was that it was easier to justify billings if you were visible.

[ 10/11/12 8:47 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: So you pretty much lived at the client premises. At Intel,

you sit near your customers as well. The relationships are key to

influence.

[ 10/11/12 8:47 PM] nitinvig:

@Arun, thanks! could you briefly describe a project where you got an

opportunity to create an impact. just to give an idea on how people

make an impact at Intel?

[ 10/11/12 8:48 PM] Pratyush Singhania: That was very helpful JR. Thank you for entertaining my questions.

[ 10/11/12 8:48 PM] JR - Intel: np (no problem! :-) )

[ 10/11/12 8:49 PM] JR - Intel: All: We have about 10 minutes left. Any final questions?

[ 10/11/12 8:50 PM] JR - Intel:

If you do not believe you qualify for this position, or want to see more

available in your home country.

[ 10/11/12 8:50 PM] nitinvig:@ JR, what's the timeline you are targetting for the recruitment

process?

[ 10/11/12 8:51 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig We will begin screening interested candidates next week

and begin scheduling interviews the following week. After successfully

completing two phone interviews, candidates will travel to an Intel

campus near their current location for an onsite interview.

[ 10/11/12 8:52 PM] nitinvig:

@JR, thanks, so a few of my classmates have already got interviews

with Intel, so are there separate teams looking at the screening

process?

[ 10/11/12 8:53 PM] JR - Intel:

@Nitinvig: Yes, We have also been sending teams to schools for

information sessions and to conduct preliminary interviews. In some

cases we've simply posted at schools through the career offices and

through Finance clubs.

[ 10/11/12 8:53 PM] Arun - Intel:

Many examples, I'll give a couple and Sunil can add so you get a good

flavor. In one of the biz units, I stopped an acquisition and drove a

licensing deal. In another instance, I influenced downsizing a business

given lack of growth/profitability. In India, one could influence eth

market growth strategy, or the cost of a product being developed, or

work with external agency such as NASSCOM to influence govt policy

in tax, drive a change in process efficiency in accounting......

[ 10/11/12 8:56 PM] Sunil - Intel:

Nitinvig - at Intel finance is an equal partner and plays a visible role in

influencing key decisions. For example, in one of the recent projects

finance recommendations resulted in not having to build data center

for a new construction site. This resulted in multi million $s in cash

savings.

[ 10/11/12 8:56 PM] nitinvig:

@Aru, thanks! thats really insightful, so in India you have two major

avenues to work - market side and product cost side. Now, that paints

a much clearer picture

[ 10/11/12 8:57 PM] JR - Intel: 3 minute warning!

[ 10/11/12 8:57 PM] nitinvig:@Sunil, thats interesting, so finance also looks at go-no go tuype

decisions for a particular business or new opportunity

[ 10/11/12 8:58 PM] nitinvig:@thanks to everyone from Intel for hosting this session..extremely

informative

[ 10/11/12 8:58 PM] JR - Intel: You are most welcome!

[ 10/11/12 8:59 PM] Sunil - Intel:Nitinvig - finance provides independent views and recommendations

for key decisions

[ 10/11/12 8:59 PM] Arun - Intel:yes Nitin, there is also budgets and planning, where folks drive

resource fungibility and efficiency. Also Accounting, Treasury, Tax.
