Integration of Orthodontics and Aesthetic Rehabilitation – Treatment of Complex Cases with Miniplates RESUME: Nowadays aesthetic rehabilitation requires multidisciplinary interaction, which properly begins with a correct diagnosis. By each separate specialty providing its own diagnosis, patients often receive inadequate care and are dissatisfied with the end result. 3D planning, with the union of occlusion, pink and white aesthetics, is the primary key for predictability and success in complex cases. Orthodontics has recently undergone a major revolution. The first innovation was craniofacial three-dimensional tomographic diagnostics, which provides more correct analysis, as well as a TMJ evaluation. The second was skeletal anchorage with miniplates, which allows quicker orthodontic movement with minimal side effects. The third was creation of advanced mechanics promoting bone remodelling concurrent in all three planes of space (antero- posterior, lateral, and vertical) which solves complex cases. Those develop- ments combine for a greater contribution of orthodontics for true integration between specialties, mainly oral rehabilitation, cosmetic dentistry, orthog- nathic surgery and implantology.
