Young Professionals: Operational Analytics & Integrated Lean & SixSigma Certification Program Review Board and Advisory Council The Integrated LeanSigma Certification Program was launched in 2007. Since that first class of 12 candidates in the Winter Quarter of 2008, some 550 ISE Students have completed the Black Belt Foundation Course, most earning certificates (80+%). Another 250+ Candidates have gone on to complete a 2 semester ‘dark green belt’ certification project and process with in excess of 70% successfully earning “Dark” Green Belt Certifications. The Program, three course sequence has been labelled one of the most rigorous and demanding but also one of the most valuable learning and development experiences by the candidates in this program. While the program has been titled Integrated LeanSigma and the Certification is for proficiency with the DMAIC and DCDOV methodologies, the training is actually much broader and increasingly is viewed as training in Operational Measurement, Analytics, and Improvement. The Integrated LeanSigma Certification Program was launched in 2007. It blends Process and Performance Measurement, Operational Analytics, Performance Improvement in with Change Leadership and Management.

Candidates come out prepared to migrate into a wide array of industries and types of jobs. Our Alumni Advisory Board reflects this.

The Operational Analytics (ILSS Certification Program) Review Board and Advisory Council were created to ensure constantly improving preparation for the graduates of our Department so that can add significant value to the organizations they join.

The ILSS Certification Review Board has been in existence since 2007, the inception of the Integrated LeanSigma Certification Program. The Operational Analytics Advisory Council was initiated in the Fall of 2018 and taps into the growing group of outstanding Alumni of ISE and the ILSS Certification Program. The Certification Review Board essentially serves as an independent, industry group of Subject Matter Experts in Operational Excellence and are the decision making body for certifications. The OA Advisory Council is a group of alum’s from the ISE and ILSS certification program, Early Career Professionals (Young Professionals as IISE defines them, 1-15 years into their careers). This group reviews curriculum, syllabi, the integrated, blended training overall and based on their early career experiences across a broad spectrum of industries provides continuing guidance on curriculum innovation and adjustments.

The Operational Measurement/ Analytics/Improvement (ILSS) Advisory Council:

The OMAI Advisory Council is designed to provide us with the Voice of the Young ISE Professional and also the voice of our ‘customer’, the employer. The primary focus is on continuous improvement of ‘curriculum, content, training approaches, and just the design of the program overall. Where the Review Board primarily ‘judges’ and helps us make certification decisions, this Council is focused more broadly on the Foundations Course (ISE 5810) from a content and delivery perspective. We’ve purposely picked a group of Alum’s who are from very diverse industries and in very different roles.

The OMAI Advisory Council is designed to be more of a virtual board because our young professional members are scattered out all of the country and World and they are all at busy points in their careers. And, they have all indicated that they would like to pay forward and back and therefore are willing to invest some time to this. This group does Go2Meeting calls 2-4 times a year—beginning of the Fall Semester, beginning of the Spring Semester, and then a combined physical/virtual call/meeting in April at the time of the Certification Defenses. The focus of this group is on Voice of Customer (the employers of our students) and intended to provide evolving feedback on how the OA/ILSS program is designed and working to serve our students as they launch and progress in their careers. The objective is quite simply just continuous voice of ‘customer’ input to help us continue to improve our curriculum, training, preparation for our students in the Department and Program. The Voice of the Young Professional essentially.

We’re looking for continuous improvement input in terms of curriculum design, syllabus design, new topics to integrate, key knowledge and skills that we should be emphasizing based on this groups experience.

This is highly selective group of candidates/alum’s who distinguished themselves as they completed their degree and the certification program and who have continued to succeed in the early stages of their careers.
