Integral’s cyclists all over the UK from as far as Edinburgh and Newcastle we were joined by teams from RBS, Burtonwood, ISS and many of our sponsors. They not only embarked in an epic journey completing the100 mile race on the 8th June 2013 but raising the money and awareness of this event in the many months leading up to it. Everyone involved pulled out all the stops to ensure that we hit our target of £15,000 on the justgiving.com website, with numerous emails, tweets and various social media updates we have now raised over £25,000 to date. On one of the hottest day in 2013 so far, a total of 108 riders took part in the 100 and 30 mile Integral 2013 cyclearounda- bit event in aid of raising money for such charities as Dorothy House Hospice, CLIC Sargent, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Ronald McDonald House, Ty Hafan and Cancer Research UK. Starting at Integrals head office at 9am our riders had the choice of the full 100 or 30 miles route, 67 of our cyclists completed the 100 mile in less than 10 hours whereas 40 completed the 30 mile riders completed between two and five hours. The day wouldn’t have been such a success with- out the help of our supporters who assisted the riders all the way to the finish line, offering them food, drinks and places to rest throughtout the 10 event. On the day a total of 36 kgs of bananas were consumed, 250 flapjacks and a vast quantity of energy drinks and gels were drunk to ensure that our cyclist would complete the challenge. John Eastley commented: According to my digital heart monitor I burnt off 5385 calories today which worked equates to 25 pints of beer or 33.3 Cadburys Cream eggs. Finally, we would like to thank everyone who sponsored and supported our teams for this event. Over the last two years we have raised over £45,000 and hope to do it all again at next year event, so keep your eye out on the vari- ous websites for details about our 2014 cyclearoundabit event and hope you can join us too.
