The minimum "passing" aggregate score for the Responsible Research Conduct module is 80%. A running tally is compiled in the Grade Book. If you want to improve a score on a quiz, you may repeat any quiz in which you didn't score 100 % correct. All VT employees and students must log in via SSO and should use the instructions that begin on page 2. Non-VT employee/student login skip to page 6.

Instructions for Virginia Tech CITI Responsible Conduct of Research participants

If you have been issued a Virginia Tech email address please use it as your primary/preferred

VT employee/student login instructions:
To Start the Course:
Step 1: Go to www.citiprogram.org. If you are a VT employee or student, go to the section “Log
in through my institution” and click on “Log in via SSO”. If you are not an employee or student,
select create an account and skip to page 6 for further instructions.
Step 2: Scroll to “Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University” and click on the name. The
below CAS screen will appear. Enter your VT PID/Password to log into CITI.
If you are a student at Virginia Tech you will receive the below error message after you attempt to
log into SSO.
Error Encountered Virginia Tech and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) have partnered to provide single sign on (SSO) using Virginia Tech's Central Authentication Service (CAS). Due to FERPA requirements, student data is not released without explicit permission. You are seeing this error because your information from Virginia Tech was suppressed. Please proceed to our data release consent site to resolve this issue. If you have concerns about the disclosure of non-directory information ([email protected]) to CITI, please contact us for alternative training options at [email protected].
Please read the error message and if you agree please click on the link to the “data release consent
site” and follow the instructions. Once you consent, you will be able to access the training.
