1. INDICATIONS AND GENERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS

To ensure the best working conditions and safety, please read the following paragraphs: One of the basic factors of security is respect for the maintenance intervals (see

maintenance chart). Also, never attempt repairs or maintenance if you have no experience and / or tools required.

ELECTROCUTION - The generators supply electrical current during use.- Never touch damaged or disconnected cable connections.- Never operate a generator with wet hands feet.

- Never expose the equipment to liquid splashes or outdoors, or place it on awet floor.- Keep electrical cables and connections in good condition.- The use of material in poor condition can cause electrical shock or equipment damage.- Provide a differential protection device between the generator and the apparatus ifthe length or the cables used is greater than 1 meter.- Use flexible and resilient rubber sheathed cables in accordance with current regulations.- The generator must not be connected to other energy sources, such as public distributionnetwork. In the particular case a backup connection is foreseen to networkselectrical existing, should only perform this operation a qualified electrician. To do this you must take into account the differences in operating the equipment, according tothe public grid or generator is used.- The lightning protection breakers depends on a specifically provided in the generator. If thelatter should be replaced, it should be done by others with identical nominal values andcharacteristics.

FIRE Never refuel the fuel tank while the generator is running or the engine is hot. - Clean any traces of fuel with a clean cloth.

- Fuel is extremely flammable and explosive vapors. Do not smoke, approachinga flame or cause sparks when refueling the fuel tank.- Keep any flammable or explosive product (fuel, oil, rags, etc.) when the

group is underway. - Place the generator always on level ground, flat and level in order to prevent thefuel tank spills on the engine.- The storage of chemical / oil products and handling is carried out according to the

laws.

EXHAUST GASES - Exhaust gases contain highly toxic component: carbon dioxide. This componentcan cause death if present in very high concentrations in the air we breathe.- For this reason, always use your generator in a well ventilated place where thegases can not accumulate.

- In addition, good ventilation is required for the proper operation of your generator. Withoutthis ventilation, the engine quickly increase the temperature to values that produce accidentsor damage to the equipment or surrounding property.- However, if an operation must be performed within a building, provide for theappropriate ventilation so that persons or animals are not presentaffected.

Page 5: Instructions and user manual GC5

5

BURNS - Never touch the engine or muffler during operation of the generator set or for a fewminutes after his arrest and off.- Some conservation oils are flammable. In addition, some are dangerous if inhaled.

Make sure you have good ventilation. Use a protective mask during handling.- The hot oil may cause burns. Avoid direct skin contact with hot oil. Make sure thesystem is not under pressure before any intervention. Never start with the oil fillercap and / or fuel out of place.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION - A leaking exhaust can cause an increase in the noise level of the generator. Toensure its effectiveness, periodically examine the muffler of the machine.

- Never empty or spillage of the engine oil in the ground, but in a container providedfor the purpose. Service stations can regain their used oil.- Try to avoid, where possible, the reverberation of the sound walls or otherstructures: the volume would be amplified.

- If your generator exhaust is not equipped with a para-sparks and must usethe group in wooded areas, grassy or weedy uncultivated land, pay close attention and watchthe sparks do not cause fire. Clear a large enough area in the place where anticipated moveyour generator.

GENERAL SAFETY TIPS Before using the group need to know how to stop the group immediately and fully understand all the controls and maneuvers. - Never let other people use ei generator without having been previously giveninstructions.- Never let children touch the generating set, even standing. Avoid usingof the generator group in the presence of animals.- Never start the engine without air filter or without exhaust.- Never reverse the positive and negative terminals of the batteries during assembly. Polarityreversal may entail serious wear on electrical equipment.- Never cover the generating set with any material during operation or afterstop. Wait for it to cool.- Never cover the generating set with a thin layer of oil in order to protect therust attack.- In any case, respect the local regulations in force concerning generators before using yours.

WARNING! The engine must not operate in environments that are explosives. No electrical or mechanical component is shielded, so sparks could occur. Changing the fuel filter must be done with a cold engine to avoid any risk of

fire as a result of fuel sprays. Always cover the alternator if it is under the fuel filter.
