Capacity BarThisbardisplaysthetotalcapacityofyourMemoryStick™DUO(thefigureinbrackets)andtheamountoffreespaceavailable.SpaceonyourMemoryStick™isusedbyallfilesyouaddtoit,therefore,ifyouhavealotofgame-savesorMP3filesonyourMemoryStick™,thenlessspacewillbeavailableforstoringvideofiles.ThissharedcapacitycanexplainwhyevenwhennofilesareshowninthePSPContentswindowtheCapacityBarshowsfullornearlyfullbecausethespaceisbeingusedbyothertypesoffiles.
Status BarWhenyoucopyfilesacrosstotheMemoryStick™inyourPSPthestatusofthetransferwillbedisplayedintheStatusBarareaatthebottomofthescreen.

YourPSPcanfunctionasafully-fledgedhandheldmovieplayerespeciallywhenusedinconjunctionwithahighcapacityMemoryStick™DUO(upto1GBcardsarecurrentlyavailable)andtheincludedMAXMediaManagersoftwareonthePCtoconvertyoursourcemediaintoPSPfriendlymoviefiles.
ThePSPwillonlyallowplaybackofvideofilescorrectlynamed,filedandencodedtothePSPspecification.
HavingaddedmediatoyourPCMediaViewlibrary,whenyouhighlightavideofileandclickcopyMAXMediaManagerwillautomaticallyconvertandencodeyourvideofilesintoPSPcompatiblevideothencopythemtotheMemoryStick™inyourPSP.Yourmoviefileswillautomaticallyberenamedduringthisprocess,necessaryforthemtobeplayedonthePSP.Thestatusbaratthebottomofthescreenwilldisplaytheprogressoftheprocesswhichmaytakeseveralminuteswhenworkingwithlargevideofiles.

UsetheMAXMediaManagersoftwaretoautomaticallyputyourMP3musicfilesonyourPSP’sMemoryStick™toplaybackwhenyou’reonthemove.ThePSPcannativelyplayawiderangeofMP3specificationsandshouldbeabletoplayjustaboutanyMP3fileyoualreadyhaveonyourPCwithouttheneedforre-encoding.

ThePSPrequiresyourimagestobeinJPGformat(nativeformatformostdigitalcameras).ItisalsoworthrememberingthatthePSP’sscreenis480x272,soifyouwanttomaximizethenumberofpicturesyoufitonyourPSP(withoutdistortion)youcouldusethesoftwarethatcamewithyourdigitalcameraorscannertoresizeyourimages.Ifyouchoosenottoresizeyourimages,thePSPwillstilldisplaythemandgivesyouoptionsonhowtoscaletheimageonscreen.

6.c. Getting new Game-Saves on your PSP
ProvidingyourPCisconnectedtotheInternet,theOnlineServerWindowwillbedisplayingtheonlinegame-savecontentavailabletousersofMAXMediaManager.Thiscontentisarrangedintoserverfoldersandthengroupedbygame-name.
Clickthe[+]symbolnexttoaserverfolder(suchas‘OnlineGame-Saves’or‘OnlinePower-Saves’)andgame-namefolders(likeApeEscape:OntheLoose)toexpandtheircontentwheresavesavailablefordownloadwillbedisplayed.Afterclickinga[+]symbolbepatientwhilethecontentisdownloaded.
Ifyouseeagame-saveyouwouldliketodownload,clicktohighlightitandthenclickthe‘Copy’buttontodownloadandtransferittoyourPSP.Bepatientasdependinguponthesizeofthegame-save,thismaytakeuptoaminute.

Itmightsoundobvious,butthinkaboutwhatsavesyouaredownloading.Onlydownloadgame-saveswhichyouactuallyhavethegamesfor(agame-saveonitsownisn’treallymuchuse!).Also,lookcarefullyattheversionofthegame(US/EURO/JAPetc.)tomakesurethatagame-savethatlookssimilarisindeedforyourexactversionofthegame.Ifyoufindthatagame-savewillnotloadupfromwithinyourgameitislikelythatit’sforadifferentversion:youshouldcheckforotherversionsavailabletodownload.

Saveslistedwithinafolderdescribedas‘Game-Saves’or‘CommunitySaves’aresavesthathavebeencreatedbygamersplayingPSPgamesconventionallyandmakingsavesinthesamewayyoudo.Ofcourse,thebestGame-Savesarethosewhosecreatorshaveaccomplishedimpressivefeatsinagamelike‘100%Complete’,‘AllLevelsOpen’etc.,ormadethesaveataninterestingpointlike‘Justbeforelastfight’.

Onceyouhaveselectedaprimarydeviceyouwillseethemaininterfacewhereyoucanviewthecontentofyourchosendeviceandchoosefromanumberofactionsthatcanbeperformed.
IMPortant:TheMediaManagerPS2™softwareisdesignedtoprotectsensitivecontentbyignoringfilesstoredinthePSP’sspecialcontentfolders(game-saves,video,images,audio)andonlydisplaycontentstoredintherootdirectoryoftheMemoryStick™DUO.TomanagecontentinthosefoldersusetheMAXMediaManagerPCsoftware.

Onceyouhavemadeyourselection,pressing‘RIGHT’willmovethecursortothelistof‘ActionIcons’inthewindowontheright.Theseselectwhichactionwillbeperformedonthesavesthatarehighlighted.

1.ChooseMEM1asyourprimarydevice(onthefirstscreen).2.Highlightthesavesyouwanttomoveanduse‘X’toselectthem.3.Press‘RIGHT’tomoveontotheActionsMenuandthenand‘DOWN’oncetohighlighttheMOVEaction.4.Press‘RIGHT’againtwicetochoosethePSPasthetargetdevice.5.Press‘X’tomovethetwoselectedfilesfromMEM1tothePSP.6.Atthetopofthescreenaprogressbarwillappearindicatingthetransferstatus.7.Oncecomplete,youcanconfirmthemovenoticingthatthefilesarenolongerlistedon MEM1.Use‘CIRCLE’toreturntothe‘Chooseprimarydevice’screenandthen choosethePSPasyourprimarydevice(bypressing‘X’).Whenthecontentsare displayedonthemainscreen,thenewfilesshouldbepresent.
