Step 2: Hacking the Air Freshener1. Open up the air freshener's plastic casing.Careful not to snap it.

2. Inside you will find the atomizer with a scent cylinder and the batteries. Remove them.

3. Unscrew the body of the atomizer.

4. Study the way the gears are positioned. You will need to replace them. Remove the gears.

5. Carefully detach the motor and the PCB from the body. There are two plastic hold-ers that are holding the PCB in the body. These need to adjusted to pry the PCB free.

6. Identify the wires that come form the external button switch and solder two leads onto the PCB.

7. Poke these two leads from the openings in the PCB and the body.

8. Replace all the parts of the air freshener and rebuild it.

9. Test if the atomizer sprays by touching the two leads together. If not, resolder the wires and ensure the gears in place etc.

Step 3: Build the Body

1. The frame was made in acrylic.

2. Cut out the parts out of a sheet of acrylic using a laser cutter.

(Use attached Illustrator file)

3. Drill holes in the horizontal sheets to allow for wires to travel through the levels.

4. Cement two vertical pillars with all the horizontal planes.

5. Insert the air freshener inside the body. Pull leads out of the air freshener to the the lower levels.

6. Cement the remaining two pillars to complete the build.

Step 3: Set up the Circuit1. Solder leader pins onto the board of the GPS shield.

2. Place the board on the Arduino board. Ensure that the fit is tight and the pins are aligned perfectly.

3. Solder the leads from the air freshener to ground and pin 13.

4. Quickly upload the program attached. This will set the pin to HIGH and stop the mis firing of the atomizer.

5. To test the set up, input s into the Arduino command line and check if you can control the Arduino.
