SCTR KL2 • Essential component of MUSC's Clinical &
Translational Science Award (CTSA) funded by NIH• Any research area as long as clinical or translational• Slots: 4 positions can be funded at a time• Term Length: 2 years with an optional 3rd year• Support: – 75% salary support (subject to the NIH salary cap) – $25,000 annual project budget – $1000 for travel to the CTSA Annual Conference
SCTR KL2 • Eligibility: – Junior Faculty with, or with pending, tenure track
positions who are committed to a career path in clinical & translational research
– MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD – Candidates may not have been a PI on an R01, R29
or a subproject for a P01, P50, P60, or U54. – US citizen or possess verification of permanent
residency – Commit 75% of full-time professional effort
• Career Development Program for Junior Investigators Working in Basic, Translational, Clinical, or Health Services Research Related to Women's Health in the Neurosciences
• 1-2 Scholars selected for a 2-3 year appointment• Each Scholar will devote a minimum of 75% effort to
the program
BIRCWH K12
• Salary Support: up to $100,000/Scholar/Year. The appropriate MUSC department will provide the additional salary support
• Research Development/Project Support: up to $25,000/Scholar/Year
BIRCWH K12• Eligibility:
- MD, DPH, DPT, DO, DDS, DMD, DVM, PharmD, PhD, or ScD- Completed residency/fellowship training or postdoctoral training less than 6 years ago- US citizen or non-citizen national, or possess verification of permanent residency.- Commit 75%- 100% of full-time professional effort - No previous R01, R03, R21, or K series grant award or subproject on a Program Project (P01), Center (P50, P60, U54) grant

trainees with a doctorate and < 5 years of research training who are committed to a career in clinical research in drug abuse.
NCI K12 Program• Career Development Program for Clinical &
Translational Oncology• Two Scholars will begin program by April-July 2014
for a two-year appointment• Additional Scholars: 1 in 2015; 2 in 2016; and 1 new
in 2017.• Of the 6 scholars, 4 must be MDs; up to two Scholars
can be PhDs but they must have a clear focus on patient oriented research
NCI K12 Requirements
• Each Scholar must devote 75% effort to the program (50% for surgical Scholars)
• Salary Support: $100,000 salary plus fringe/Scholar/Year. The appropriate MUSC department will provide the additional salary support
• Research Development/Project Support: $24,000/Scholar/Year;
• Mentor Laboratory Fees: $2,000/Scholar/Year.
NCI K12 Requirments
• Scholars’ Eligibility Requirements:- MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD.- Completed residency/fellowship training or postdoctoral training, and must be committed to a career in translational patient-oriented oncology research.- US citizen or non-citizen national, or possess verification of permanent residency

• Teach core competency in clinical research methods
• Foster development of a sustainable research focus
• Provide participant with the skills to compete for extramural support
Master of Science in Clinical Research Program (MSCR)
MSCR Program Specifics:• Part time – 2 years, Full time – 1 year
• The curriculum includes 38 credit hours earned through courses including Clinical Epidemiology, Clinical Biostatistics, Comparative Effectiveness Research, Regression Methods for Clinical Research, Grants Overview, Critical Review, Ethical Issues in Clinical Research and Clinical Trials
• Required item: development of a grant proposal that is ready for submission by the end of the program
