What do I need to think about?

http://bit.ly/6jc2D4 to access guide

The checklist was originally produced for the JISC Phase 2 Learner Experience of e-Learning Projects in 2008 to help them think about accessibility issues in relation to their outputs

Not everybody needs access to the same thing in the same way.

– Everybody needs EQUIVALENT access.

TechDis take a holistic approach to accessibility

It means following guidance created to ensure a common standard. This includes a minimum level of accessibility for Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs for example.

It also means that every individual has a responsibility to examine their own practice and make adjustments that are relevant to their own context.

Key aspects to ensuring accessibility

1. Look at the TechDis accessibility guides for Word, Excel and PowerPoint

2. Watch the InstantPresenter videos on accessibility that have been created for JISC projects

3. Consider embedding the free TechDis toolbar on your website

4. Read Ros Smith’s (JISC consultant) brief suggestions about making your final reports accessible

1. There is also information if you are creating video and audio files

5. Of course, if you have questions, ask – JISC TechDis are more than happy to help.
