Steel Bridge Design Competition:
This competition aims at the increment of awareness of real-world engineering
issues such as spatial constraints, material properties, strength, fabrication and
erection processes, safety, esthetics, project management and cost. Success in
this competition requires application of engineering principles, theory and
effective teamwork.
Judging criteria was made
simple for the participants.
The bridge was mainly
tested according to its
structural aesthetics,
construction speed, lightness
and innovation. Starting and
ending time of the event was
noted and marks to every
team was awarded according
to their bridges. All the
participants showed perfect
team work and designed
their bridges. Participants
designed some new innovative bridges with less cost effective and with good
aesthetics.
Wooden Bridge Design Competition:
Bridges are the valuable assets of infrastructure development. They can be the
biggest and most attractive part of a project. This competition started on the 2nd
day of URAAN ’16. Total numbers of teams were 40 with 3 participants in each
team. The event was held in the large lobby of FAST-NUCES Department of
Civil Engineering where a crowd of more than hundred gathered to see the
exciting event happening. The event started in the morning and continued

throughout the morning. Material was provided to the participants which
constituted of ice-cream sticks and glue etc. Every bridge was judged by
applying loads and aesthetics of the bridges. The load was to be applied at the
center perpendicular to the bridge. Teams from UET Peshawar, UET Lahore,
UOL, COMSATS and FAST-NU etc. participated in this event and made one
of the finest bridged of them all. The bridges was tested according to the criteria
and results were prepared by judges. The test was laid to the best and all the
positions were from FAST-NUCES Lahore.
CAD (AutoCAD Competition)
This was an Auto CAD draw and design competition. Two rounds of 2D of
Auto CAD drawing was concluded. Each session was of one hour. In the first
round participants were asked to draw an existing drawing from page to Auto
CAD. In the second round participants were supposed to design the drawing
according to the specifications we mentioned and then present the files to the
management.

Mock Interviews:
Mock interviews enable candidates to have a fair idea about the sort of things
they are going to experience at actual interviews, and prepare them how
accurately they can deal with it. In these interviews students from different
departments participated and get interview sessions by expert panelist. Our
panelist include professional CSP, CSS officer, Phycologists and Senior
Railway officers. The panelist guide the candidates whether or not their
responses are suitable, along with providing them the most appropriate set of
response they should practice. In the process the candidates gain their
confidence by having the knowledge about their strengths and shortcomings.
No one is perfect enough to execute everything faultlessly, so the purpose of
these mock interviews
is to point out one’s
weaknesses and guide
them to bring perfection
by rectifying those.
Mock interviews help
candidates reduce their
anxiety about
interviewing by training
them for the typical
interview questions.
This initiative was
appreciated by all of our
faculty and students.
All Collegiate Film Festival:
Besides all the technical events URAAN also included some events which helps
the students to show up their skills regarding art and media. URAAN provided
a platform for all media lovers and artists to show up their skills. Sole purpose
of this event is to gather and enlighten a path for their hidden skills. Participants

was supposed to show a short film which will represent a common problem in
society.
These films were screened in the Auditorium and were evaluated based on
cimatography, story line, and technicals and editing.

Photography used to be one of the extensive art for students to capture the
beauty with their camera. Our photographs share so much about who we are as
individuals and what we find beautiful, fascinating, funny, delicious, important
