Report of MCED, DST-NIMAT sponsored Faculty Development Programme
Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, and Maharashtra Centre for
Entrepreneurship Development, Nagpur sponsored Faculty development program for faculties of
Engineering, Polytechnique and Science college was organised from 11/03/2014 to 25/03/2014
in association with IQAC of Institute of Science, Nagpur. Inauguration ceremony was held in
Sabhagruh (Room No. 45) of Institute of Science, Nagpur. Nearly 25 faculties of various
colleges participated in the program. On this occasion Project officer, Mr. S. S. Kulkarni, MCED
Nagpur, Mr. A. S. Dabir, Regional officer MCED, Nagpur, Dr. S. A. Kalkar, IQAC in-charge
and other faculty members were present. Dr. M. T. Bharambe, Director, Institute of Science,
Nagpur, presided over the function. During the twelve days schedule of FDP Eminent Speakers,
Industrialist and Academicians guided the participants. The Valedictory function was held at
Sabhagruh (Room No. 45) of Institute of Science, Nagpur on 25/03/2014. On this occasion Dr.
M. T. Bharambe, Director, Institute of Science, Nagpur, present as chief guest of the function.
The FD program concluded with distribution of certificates to participants.

On the behalf of R.T.M. Nagpur University Nagpur, IQAC of Govt. Institute of Science
organized Ten Days Pre-Ph.D. course work on “ RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & COMPUTER APPLICATION” during 20th
to 30th
April 2016.
This workshop was open to all subject under the faculty of science. And it became very
successful event of IQAC.
We get permission for intact of 60 seats for this course from university but due to the
response of participants approaching us we took special permission for additional seats. For this
course we had 71 participants form different field of science.
The Objective of this course to pay attention to the most important dimension of
Research i.e. Research Methodology. It will enable the Researchers to develop the most
appropriate methodology for their Research Studies. The mission of the course is to impart
research skills to the beginners and help improve the quality of Research by the existing
researchers.
Contents of course work mostly focus on foundation of research methodology and
important computer tools which students have to know. The Course Structure is designed in a
way that the learning of Research Methodology can move from Mugging up syndrome to fun-
practical method; from a teaching process to an experimental process, from memorizing to
brainstorming, from clearing the examination to feedback learning, from knowledge transfer to
knowledge creation, from competitive learning to collaborative learning.
This workshop was conduct under the chairmanship of Director of our Institute Dr. R. G.
Atram sir and Dr. Archana Nerkar was the Convener for this course. Dr. Ramdas Lihitikar,
Librarian & Dr. Abhay Khamborkar, Department of Statistics were the organizing secretary.
Because of their effort and dedication event became very successful according to feedback which
we got from participants.
One important thing was that we had very eminent and expert speakers for the guidance
to the participants.

Organidsed by Library
One Day program on “Plagiarism: A pervasive unethical practice” was organized by
department of Library in association with IQAC, Institute of Science, Nagpur on 21st January
2016. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. M. P. Satija UGC Emeritus Fellow, Guru Nanak Dev
University, Amritsar was present as guest speaker. He explained about writing a research paper.
He emphasized on avoiding plasiarism by citing author. Dr. R. G. Atram was chaired the session.
150 students along with faculties of various departments attended the program. Dr. R. S.
Lihitkar, proposed vote of thanks.
Report of Work shop on Mind power and Brain work by Manashakti Kendra Lonavala
organised by Dept. of Botany
One Day Workshop on “Mind power and Brain work by Manashakti Kendra Lonavala
organised by Dept. of Botany in association with IQAC, Institute of Science, Nagpur on 31st july
2016. The expert lecture was delivered by volunteer of Manashakti Kendra. He explained about setting
goal of life. We should set SMART goal. He also thrown a light on emotional intelligence. Dr. R. G.
Atram was chaired the session. 200 students along with faculties of various department attended the
session and took advantage of the session.

REPORT OF FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN ENTEREPRENERSHIP

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, POLYTECHNICS AND SCIENCE COLLEGES

In the collaboration with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED)
Nagpur, Govt. Institute of Science organized Two Week Faculty Development programme in
Entrepreneurship for faculties of Engineering , Polytechnics and Science Colleges on 13th to 24th
December 2016 at our Institute. This programme was sponsored by DST and NSTEB, Govt. of
India.
Programmes had been conceived in three parts. Viz
Part-A: Issue pertaining to Entrepreneurship development process
Part-B: Govt. initiatives in developing SME and insight into industrial environment with
focus on process of establishing SME
Part-C: Presentation of models for implementation of techno entrepreneurship development.
It includes use of conventional as well as nonconventional ways of learning and training.
Although classroom method is convenient mode, theoretical sessions, group discussions, simulation
exercise, case studies, interaction, and field visit of industries.
Objectives of programme was
1. Faculty Development Program (FDP) aims at equipping the teachers with skills and
knowledge that are essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students and guiding
and monitoring their progress towards entrepreneurial career.
2. Create an awareness of the need and importance of entrepreneurship.
3. Impart knowledge and develop skills in diverse training methods in imparting training to
students and entrepreneurs.
4. Plan curriculum that can imbibe the skills and competencies to achieve goals directed by
values, have a positive attitude and have the ability to cope with the changing times.
5. Develop teachers with an entrepreneurial and professional mindset.
6. Make them aware about promotional financial & regulating schemes for Micro Small and
Medium Enterprise (MSME).
7. Guide them for techniques of preparation of feasible & viable project.
8. Guide them for “Techniques of proposal preparation.
We were fulfill all the goal and objectives for this programme. We had nearly about 27
participants from faculties of college form Nagpur region. And best thing is that form our staff 10
faculties took benefited of it.
For that we are very much thankful to Mr. H. R. Waghmare project officer MCED for their
excellent effort and guidance to make this programme successful. Programme was conducted under
the chairmanship of Dr. R. G. Atram sir and Dr. Sushma Narkhede was Coordinator for it.
On valedictory Dr. Suhas Budhe guide all the participants for entrepreneurship. He is secretary
of Vidharbha industrial association and also a successful Businessman.

IQAC of Institute of Science Nagpur organized a Guest lecture of Dr. S. S. Mukharjee,
Associate Professor in English at Kamla Neharu College Nagpur, She is a expertly in the field of
Quality Enhancement Measures for NAAC. She spoke on many topics like The role of coordinator,
Operational Features of the IQAC Monitoring Mechanism, The Annual Quality Assurance Report
(AQAR) of the IQAC, institutional website, etc. It was very fruitful lecture to all staff members and
IQAC committee and from that we get idea what we have to do now.
Report of One day Workshop on "How to use Smart Classroom"
One Day Workshop on “How to use smart class room” was organized by department of Computer Science in association with IQAC, Institute of Science, Nagpur on 12
th Jan. 2017. The expert
lecture was delivered by Dr. S. G. Ganatra. He explained the working of interactive board. Dr. A. K.
Khamborkar, Head, Dept. of Computer Science, explained the step wise process to deliver lecture on
smart class room. Dr. R. G. Atram was chaired the session. Dr. Maharaj, Director, V. N. G. I. A. S.
Nagpur and Dr. Hudda attended the session. The 25 faculties of various department took advantage of the
session.
Report of One day Special Training on "Financial Literacy Programme" Organized by
Library and Dept. of Computer Science in association with SEBI
One Day special training program on “Financial literacy” was organized by
department of Library and Computer Science in association with SEBI and IQAC, Institute
of Science, Nagpur on 21st September 2016. Ms. Shruti Agrawal was guest speaker on this
occasion. She explained the financial planning. Dr. R. S. Lihitkar, Head, Dept. of Library,
introduced the guest speaker. Dr. R. G. Atram was chaired the session. The 35 faculties of
various departments took advantage of the session.
REPORT OF PATENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME
(21st September 2016)
The patent awareness programme was organized at Govt Institute of Science Nagpur on 21st
September 2016 by IQAC of Institute. Several people from other colleges, research students and all
faculties of Institute took benefit of this programme.
Dr R. G. Atram, Director of Institute of Science welcomed the dignitaries and the participants.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Chhaya Satpute, Documentation
Manager, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IPR, Nagpur. In her speech, she stressed the need for registering
patents and explained the utilities of such activity and explained how patents can also registered and
assigned just the same way as any other immovable property and stressed its importance in the light
of new agreements such as TRIPS and WTO.
The President of Programmed Dr. Atram sir spoke about how inventors in the past had helped
technological and social development.
At the end people appreciate the idea of Dr. Sushma Narkhede, Coordinator IQAC for her nice
idea to organized talk on such a important topic.

A Report of Workshop on Pot making
technique
A Workshop on Pot making technique was conducted by Botanical
Society in the Department of Botany of the Govt. Institute of Science, Nagpur
on 08/03/2018. The Workshop began with felicitation of Chief Guest Dr. N.
V. Khubalkar. Then he delivered lecture on pot making for plantation and
replantation. It is followed by hand on training in the Botanical Garden.
Students prepared pots for plantation of saplings and cuttings. The pots were
watered and kept in green house. Dr. S. A. Kalkar, Dr. P. S. Jakhi also guided
students during the workshop. On this occasion all the faculty members were
present. The students of B. Sc. and M. Sc. actively participated in the
workshop.
