Installing Oracle and Oracle Patching for SAP Installs:
This document explains how to install Oracle 10G on AIX as well as patching Oracle (Also refer to the documentation in the installation guide for the SAP system you are installing for additional notes on the Oracle installation and patching process.

Start the XServer on the server. Click on Start, XWin Server to bring up a command session.
Type: xhost + (now clients can connect from any host)
Log on as root in CYGWIN and change Oracle sidadm’s password:
Passwd orar1s
Enter new password.

Log back on but now with orar1s and the new password. The screen will prompt you for a new password.
At the XWinserver:
jbronne@VWHQSAPM1 ~
$ ssh -X orar1s@r1s
Echo $DISPLAY (verify the display variable is set).
Can also test with the command:
xclock &
(view the clock that appears) – This is to ensure the Oracle Installer screen will be able to come up.
Section 4.5.1: Updating SAP-Specific Files in the Oracle Staging Area.
Find where the RDBMS_SAP_64.zip file (should be at: /media/ORACLE)
Extract the zip file:
cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1
unzip /media/ORACLE/102_64/RDBMS_SAP.zip
Section 4.5.2 Performing Steps for the AIX Operating System
Run the rootpre.sh
Sign in as orasid.
su - root
Change directory to /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/rootpre
./rootpre.sh
As root run the command: /usr/sbin/slibclean
Exit so that your ID is orasid again.

4.5.3 Running he Oracle Installer
As orasid, go the directory: /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP
./RUNINSTALLER
Say “y” for yes when to the question appears to run the rootpre.sh as root.
After a few minutes, the Oracle Universal Installer(OUI) appears:

Ensure that SID under /oracle and all sub-directories + files are owned by orasid and dba.
If you need to, execute: chown –R CED
Edit the path to oracle/SID/oraInventory and click on the “Next” button.
Click on “Yes”.

Click on “Next”.

A summary page appears. Click on Install.

Log on as root to the server and execute the above scripts. After this click on the “OK” button.
Exit.
As root, run:
ps –ef | grep ora
Kill the two jobs that have a long line that ends in “.xml”. (makes sure nothing is running since the program files will now be updated in the applying of patches).
kill -9 jobname.xml
4.5.4 Installing the Current Patchset:
Run: /usr/sbin/slibclean (cleans out ghost connections) as root.
As orasid, go to: /media/ORACLE/102_64/Patchset_10204/Disk1
Execute: ./runInstaller
The Oracle Universal Installer screen appears.

Click on “Next”.

Click “Next”.

Click on “Next”.
Note: the Red Hand flag is a false positive, and you can ignore this. Click on the “Install” button.
Click on “Yes”.
The Patch Installation starts.

Log on as root and execute the root.sh script. Click on “OK” when the script is done.

Click on “Exit”.
Section 4.5.5 Installing Required Interim Patches
Logged on as root, go to /media/ORACLE/102_64
Copy contents in OPatch:
cp -R OPatch /oracle/R1S/102_64
Log in as orasid.
Go to /media/ORACLE/102_64 (have to be in this dir because the patches to be applied are in the subdir patches).
Execute this command: /oracle/R1S/102_64/OPatch/opatch napply patches
Say “y” for yes to any prompts.
OPatch completes and there may be some warnings. This is due to some duplicates and you can ignore these.
Now, return back to the SAP Install to go forward.
ld: 0711-345 Use the -bloadmap or -bnoquiet option to obtain more information.
ar: No such file or directory
ar: 0707-117 The fopen system call failed on file /oracle/MDP/102_64/lib/shr.o.
11) OUI-67200:Make failed to invoke "/usr/ccs/bin/make -f ins_rdbms.mk ipc_g ioracle ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/MDP/102_64"....'make: The error code from the last command is 8.
