Installing a CSPC ISO in a Microsoft Hyper-V Environment
This documentation presents the installation steps to install
your CSPC ISO file on a Windows OS virtual machine using a
Microsoft Hyper-V environment running on a Windows Server 2012
system.
Introduction
This deployment allows a managed service provider to use
virtualization as a software package tool. This configuration
suggests regular backups of the hardware in an event of a hardware
failure, as well as enforcement with change control policies and
communications to customers on maintenance on the CSPC.
Note: It is important to note that:
◦ You set the correct order for boot devices (IDE) within the
virtual machine, otherwise the installation process repeats.
◦ You prepare yourself for the first boot-up to take some time,
given that the virtual machine must properly format itself on the
initial startup.
Procedure
ISO Download
Step 1. Download the .ISO virtual machine file from Cisco.com.
You must have the proper Cisco CCO credentials to download the
file.

Step 2. Download the CSPC ISO image to your local machine.
Step 3. Confirm that the .ISO download has been successfully
downloaded to your Windows machine (4xGB).
Step 4. Open the Microsoft Hyper-V application.
Step 5. In the Actions menu to the right, click New ->
Virtual Machine.
Software Installation Wizard The following steps take you
through the installation software wizard.

Step 1. Enter a name for the CSPC virtual machine and click
Next.
Step 2. Select Generation 1 as the virtual machine generation
type and click Next.

Step 3. Assign at least 4GB of memory for the CSPC virtual
machine and click Next.

Configure Networking (Select the appropriate network based on
your IT and Security policies)
Step 4. Select the appropriate network adapter and click
Next.

Step 5. Select Create a virtual hard disk and set the size to at
least 250GB, then click Next.

Step 6. Select Install an operating system from a bootable
CD/DVD-ROM.

Step 7. Select Image file (.iso) and browse to the CSPC ISO
image downloaded earlier, and then click Next.
Step 8. Confirm the installation options listed in the dialog,
and click Finish.

installation:

Customize the CSPC VM Connect to the VM and perform the
following steps to update the boot sequence and processor
settings:
Step 1. Right click on the newly created CSPC VM and select
Settings.
Step 2. In the Hardware menu tree to the left, click BIOS.

Step 3. In the Startup order list, click IDE.
Step 4. Click Move Up to move IDE to the top of the startup
order.

Step 5. Click Apply/OK to confirm the startup order.
Step 6. In the Hardware menu tree to the left, click
Processor.
Step 7. Using the up/down arrows, increase the number of virtual
processors to four and click Apply.

Step 8. Verify you see the (BIOS/Memory/Processor) VM settings
shown in Figure 8. before continuing:

Step 9. Right click the VM and select Power On. The ISO will
boot and CSPC installation begins.

Step 10. When the installation completes, the system will
automatically reboot the operating system and deploy the CSPC.
Step 11. The Start function will share the installation progress
noted in green

Step 12. The system will start to unload the proper ISO packages
such as the CentOS operating system and the CSPC collector
application
Step 13. CentOS operating system will begin to install

Step 14. There are 607 CentOS packages that need to be completed
for install during this deployment
Step 15. The CentOS operating system will boot once the packages
have loaded. The CSPC kickstart script will continue to build the
CSPC application.
(Note: By Clicking Up/Down or Left/Right you will be able to see
the logging shell to view the progress of installation)

Step 16. Once the CSPC application is complete, you can begin
with setting up your CSPC credentials and networking for Collector
and UI login.
