The modular Tego Dial system is used to define human-machine interfaces. It facilitates the installation of Ø 22, Ø 16 and Ø 30 mm control and signalling units,DIN format display units, Magelis terminals and display units, XBL keypads and other products.Tego Dial simplifies an HMI application by :- definition of the application by Tego Dial Design software,- quick assembly of dialogue and display units, through the use of modular elements,- standard connections from the dialogue units to PLCs, bus and other products,- facilitates the integration of the dialogue application into the machine, control panel, enclosure, machine housing or intermediate suspension arm.
/ Tego Dial Design definition softwareThis software on CD-ROM facilitates graphical definition ofthe dialogue application in relation to the control units, pilotlights and display units necessary for the device. It selects the correct Tego Dial components that are requiredfor the application and also features a legend design andprinting function, both for the front panel and the connections.
/Dialboard front panels 1The front panels basically comprise a grey, RAL 7016,painted aluminium frame which is covered by a polycarbonatefilm.Six sizes are available based on a modular pattern of heightH = 50 mm and width W = 75 mm 2. The sizes are 3H x 4W,3H x 6W, 6H x 4W, 9H x 2W, 9H x 4W and 9H x 6W.
/Dialpack control console enclosers 3Four control consoles are available in the following modularsizes: 3H x 4W, 6H x 4W, 9H x 4W and 9H x 6W.The Dialpack console is an assembly comprising a Dialboardtype front panel and a sheet steel folded and welded enclosure, painted with textured grey RAL 7016.The front panel is hinged and can be opened to 120°. Closingis by a 1/4-turn device, with stop, and locking by Ronis keyno. 455. Double bar or CNOMO triangular key locks are alsoavailable. A customising component in 2 versions - yellow orunpainted - enhances the Dialpack unit and makes it moreergonomic. A Dialpack S version in stainless steel type 304is available for corrosive environments. This version conformsto enclosure standard EN 50298.
/Plates and cross-pieces 4A range of modular dimensioned plates facilitates theinstallation of all combinations of control and signalling units, operator dialogue terminals and other devices. These platesare attached directly to the framework of the front panel. The plates, made from sheet steel and painted grey RAL7016, are designed for the following product ranges :- Ø 22, Ø 16 and Ø 30 control and signalling units,- DIN format display units,- Electronic operator terminals and displays (Magelis andothers),- keypads,- other units: joystick controllers, cam switches, etc.Cross-pieces aid vertical mounting of several rows of plates.Cut-outs in the plates are dimensioned to suit the dialogue ordisplay units that are to be installed. Some plate versions for Ø22 units are available with knock-outs, which need to beremoved before mounting the unit. Other versions incorporatecut-outs for the transparent polycarbonate legend holders(included with the plate). Alternatively, solid plates are also available for mounting anyspecial equipment required.
/ Toolkit 5The installation of dialogue and display units requires cut-outsto be made through the polycarbonate film. To simplify thisoperation, the plate is marked with cut-out guides and a toolkitis available, comprising : a mallet, cutting tools and replacementblades.
/Pre-assembled kitsDialboard and Dialpack with pre-assembled plates andcross-pieces are available.

Tego Dial offers a range of interface components andcabling accessories that simplify connections betweencontrol and signalling units and PLCs, buses and otherproducts. The main components which make up this range are :- prefabricated connection cables and insulationdisplacement connectors 1, 5 mm pitch, for connectingcontrol and signalling units to Dialbase interfaces,- Dialbase 8I/8O or 16I interfaces 2 with integratedcommons, for connecting control and signalling units toPLCs via prefabricated Telefast connection cables 5,- an active splitter block 7 for connecting a Dialbase 8I/8Ointerface to PLCs with a connection modularity greater than8I/8O,- a Dialbase 230 V interface 3 for connecting control andsignalling units to any product up to 230V,- a Dialbase AS-i 4I/4O interface 4 with integrated commons, for connecting control and signalling units to the AS-i bus.
The selection guide on page 15003/2 indicates the typeand quantity of components (Dialbase interfaces, activesplitter block, Telefast connection cables) required toconnect the control and signalling units to the various typesof PLC. The most efficient connection is achieved using theDialbase 8I/8O interface and the Telemecanique TSXMicro PLC TSX DMZ16DTK card 6.
Dialpack control consoles can be fitted directly using 4adjustable lugs, ref. AE3-FX122. However, for improvedergonomy, they are usually mounted on a suspension arm. This can either be fixed (Dialfix) or moving (Dialmove).Dialfix fixed armsTwo versions are available :- a straight fixed arm kit, comprising a straight Ø 70 mmtube, 500 or 1000 mm in length, and a pair of clamps (onefor each end). Depending on the positioning of the clamps,an inclination of ±15° from the natural position can beachieved,- an elbowed (90°) fixed arm kit, 500 mm in length. This kitalso includes the pair of clamps described above.Arms for corrosive environmentsThese arms are in 304 type stainless steel and provide350° rotation on the Dialpack fixing side. Two models areavailable:- straight arm kit, length 1000 mm,- 90° elbowed arm kit, length 500 mm.Dialmove moving armThis arm enables an extensive choice of mountingconfigurations. The cabling runs through the elements, which have removable side covers for easy access.Numerous configuration possibilities can be achieved bycombining the following components:- straight tubes (100 to 1000 mm long),- fixed 90° joint,- wall fixing bracket (straight or elbowed, fixed or mobile),- straight fixing plates (one fixed, other rotating) for Dialpack, - 15° tilted joints,- pivoting joint (-90° to +90° in the same plane).

Installation system Tego Power for motor power-starter components
Tego Power is a modular system which standardises and simplifies the implementation of motor power-starters with itsprewired control and power circuits.Hence, installation of a motor power-starter is quick, simple, safe and flexible with no wires needed for connection. Inaddition, this system enables the motor power-starter to be customised at a later date. The system reduces reducingmaintenance time and optimises panel space. The main components which make up this range are :- modular sub-bases - connection blocks- communication modulesThe motor power-starters concerned are those which combine :- Telemecanique GV2 circuit-breakers (mainly GV2-M and GV2-P) with an operating limit of 80% of maximum currentat an ambient temperature of 60¾C, up to 690 V (see page 15013/3),- with Telemecanique contactors, series K (LC1, LP1, LC2, LP2, LP4, LP5) from 6 to 12 A and series D (LC1, LP1, LP4) from 9 to 18 A.
p Tego Power Design definition software This software on CD-ROM enables the motor power-starter application to be graphically defined dependingon the circuit-breakers and contactors used. Itdetermines which Tego Power products are required forthe application. Referencing labels can also be createdfor the starters.
p Modular sub-bases There are 3 types of Tego Power modular sub-base : - sub-bases with 2 and 4 starters, APP-1B2 and APP-1B4, which can receive series K direct and -reversingcon-tactors, and series D direct contactors equipped with ana.c. or d.c. coil.- APP-1B1 sub-base, for a series D reversing starter.Sub-bases can be combined to form a variableconfigu-ration of 2, 4, 6 or 8 direct starters. One reversing starter occupies the same space on a -sub-base as two direct starters. Each sub-base comprises a prefabricated busbarsystemand a control-command circuit.Busbar systemA 3-phase prefabricated busbar system is integratedinto the sub-base and can be used to connect thecircuit-breaker to the power supply without the need forwiring simply by tightening the power screw terminals. The maximum operating currents are as follows :- 18 A per starter,- 32 A per sub-base,- 63 A per power supply 1.Protective covers 3 for power terminals, for the unusedstarter slots, are supplied with the sub-bases.Control-command circuit For each motor starter, a prefabricated control circuit isintegrated into the sub-base and is used to send dataof the following 3 types to the PLC :- circuit-breaker auxiliary contact,- contactor auxiliary contact, - contactor coil control. This I/O data is grouped on an HE 10 connector.
pp Sub-base interconnection kitThe APP-1EL connection kit is necessary for the inter-connection of the control and power circuits on two sub-bases.It contains the following accessories :- commoning link for the power,- commoning link for the coil control voltage,- ribbon cable with HE 10 connectors for connecting thesub-base I/O,- mechanical locking clips.
p AccessoriesMounting clips 4 for mounting and dismantling thesub-base fitted with motor power-starters. 2 mountingclips should be used for sub-bases with 2 starters or in-verter and 4 for sub-bases with 4 starters.Fixing bracket for earth wires of motor cables. Up to 4cables can be connected and linked in order to provideearth continuity.

p Connection blocks
Connection blocks perform the following 3 functions :- ensure the mechanical fixing of the motor starter tothe modular sub-base- connect the power terminals of the contactor 3 andcircuit-breaker 4- connect the auxiliary contact and A1-A2 coilterminals to the modular sub-base
These connection blocks comprise two sub-assem-blies :- an upper part 1 for connecting the circuit-breaker andcontactor- a lower part 2 under the contactor. It is available for 2types of configuration :
- without interface cassette for direct connection ofthe contactor coil control output,- with interface cassette 6 for relaying control of thecontactor coil.
All lower parts of the connection block 2 integrate :- the phase wiring guide 2b,- an external shunt 2a for connecting an external con-tact in series with the contactor coil or forced local con-trol (according to scheme, see page 15016/2).
A set of connection blocks adapted to each contactoror reversing contactor used is available (see the selec-tion guide on page 15011/2).
An additional GV2 auxiliary contact block must bemounted on each circuit-breaker, reference GV2-AE20or GV2-AE11 5.
p Interface cassettes 6
Some connection blocks have an interface cassette. Its role is to provide the interface between the lowvoltage PLC output (c 24 V) and the contactor coil(a 24 to 240 V).
These interface cassettes comprise an electro-mechanical relay. They can be ordered as a replace-ment part under the reference APP-1ER.
p Communication modules 7
Communication modules are used to send I/O datafrom a Tego Power motor power-starter configurationto the PLC.
The communication module is selected depending onthe type of connection required (see page 15011/3) : - in parallel mode (modules, terminal blocks or HE 10connector) - or in series mode on the bus (AS-i bus, Interbus S,Profibus DP, CAN Open or Device Net modules).
The connection between the modular sub-base andthe communication module is made using an HE 10connector 8.

Installation systemTego Power for motor power-starter components
Selection of the sub-base depends on several parameters :/ The type of contactor
The sub-bases are compatible with series D direct starter contactors and series K direct and reversing startercontactors. Series K and D contactors can be installed together on a single sub-base. A special sub-base is availablefor a series D reversing starter. Important : 2 direct contactors (LC1 or LP1) must be used with the integratedmechanical and electrical interlocks (LA9-D0902) to create a series D reversing starter. LC2 or LP2 reversingcontactors are not suitable.
/ The number of starters to be installedFor a single configuration, combinations of 2, 4, 6 and 8 starters are possible by joining sub-bases together.
/ The maximum currentThe following maximum current restrictions must be observed :- 18 A per starter (a reverser is counted as 1 starter),- 32 A per sub-base, with either 2 or 4 starters,- 63 A per power supply. For example : a configuration with 3 sub-bases, sub-base A (4 starters), sub-bases B and C (2 starters each) :- IA, IB and IC, the current for each sub-base must not exceed 32 A,- IA + IB + IC must not exceed 63 A. Otherwise, a second power supply is required on sub-base C.
Modular sub-base selection table
Selection of the breaker-contactor connection block depends on the type of contactor to be installed and, if required, onthe interfacing of the contactor coil control.

APP-1CH communication module, diagram and operating principleSwitches C and D are used to select feedback from the contactor or circuit-breaker contact (pins 1 to 8 on the HE10 connector) for each starter. In addition, onthe last 4 starters, it is possible to choose between feedback from the contactor or circuit-breaker contacts, and an external input (switch E and pins 5 to 8 onthe HE10 connector). External inputs are connected to terminals I.4 to I.7.Interface relays are connected to pins 9 to 16 on the HE10 connector. For the last 4 starters, it is possible to choose either coil control (Km5 to Km8), orconnection of local external outputs (terminals Q.4 to Q.7) using switch F.
APP-1CAS2 communication module, diagram and operating principleSame operating principle as the APP-1CH module : switches E and F are used to select the local I/O and switches C and D are used to select the contactor orcircuit-breaker contact. Control panel power distributionCMD® prefabricated plug-in busbar system
The design and manufacture of automation and distribution systems often requires the use of a busbar system to supplypower to several individual motor starters, etc.The Telemecanique CMD® prefabricated busbar system enables panel builders to minimise mounting and wiring timefor both open type and enclosed equipment. Only 4 fixing points are needed to install the prefabricated busbar system, which fits easily into all standard 2 metre high enclosures. The self-supporting busbar can provide mechanical supportfor up to 32 tap-offs.
The CMD® busbar system provides 4 main functions :
carrying electric current
By means of 3 or 4-pole busbar systems.2 ratings are available : 400 and 800 A.The factory assembled busbar system is fully protected by a metal casing.
distribution of electric current
The busbar system has 32 tap-off outlets, 16 on each side, at 100 mm centres. Each tap-off outlet hooks easily onto the front of the busbar system. The tap-off system is fast and safe.Electrical connection is made automatically by means of stab connectors, operated from the front by means of a removable key.
isolation of individual tap-offs
Each tap-off outlet can be isolated by means of a visible break disconnectblock, without having to switch off the mains supply, thus allowing continuousoperation. There is a padlocking facility for up to 3 padlocks in the isolate position.
support of the equipment
Mounting plates (1, 2 or 3 x 100 mm modules) are simply and automaticallypositioned on the support block by means of 3 screws.Their depth is adjustable. Each plate is pre-drilled to allow easy fixing of contactor breakers.Telequick type slots are provided for all other products which can be clipped onfrom the front.
Further accessories allow panels to be adapted to suit specific applications and operating requirements :- mechanical interlocking device to prevent on-load disconnection,- early break auxiliary contact block,- partitioning elements, enabling physical separation of the tap-off outlets,- mounting rail supports, for rail mounting of terminal blocks,- end fixing bracket (for use on panels subject to vibration),- front plate (can be used to mount control and signalling units),- special protective conductor, to increase the c.s.a. of the earth.

Control panel power distributionPre-assembled panel busbar system AK5
The assembly of automated control and distribution panels requires the use of products that are not only safe but alsosimple and quick to mount and cable.
The AK5 pre-assembled busbar system meets these criteria by incorporating prefabricated elements which cater for 3principal functions :
Pre-assembled 160 A (at 35 °C) 4-pole busbar system 1.
4-pole busbar systems can be used for 3-phase + Neutral or 3-phase + Common.
The busbar systems are available in 6 lengths : 344, 452, 560, 668, 992, 1100 mm.
An incoming supply terminal block 2 is located at the extreme left of the busbar system.
“Knock-out” partitions allow cabling from above or below to the terminal block connections 3, which are protected by aremovable cover 4.
Tap-off units 5 (factory assembled) are available in 4 versions :- 2-pole,- 3-pole,- 4-pole (3-phase + Neutral),- 4-pole (3-phase + Common).
The tap-offs clip onto the busbar system with instantaneous mechanical and electrical connection to the busbars.
2 ratings are available : 16 and 32 A.
The tap-off units not only ensure rapid mounting but also provide visual “symmetry” for the power distribution circuit andcomplete safety when accessing under live circuit conditions.
Component mounting plate incorporating electrical tap-off.Tap-off rating : 25 A or 50 A.
The mounting plates clip onto the mounting rail 11, which also supports the busbar system, and at the same time makeelectrical connection via the incorporated tap-off.
2 types of mounting plate are available :
- single plate 6 (height 105 mm) with bolt-on 35 mm wide 5 rail 7. This omega rail may be bolted in one of two positions, each with a 10 mm vertical step,
- double plate 8 and 14 (height 190 mm) with 2 bolt-on 35 mm wide 5 rails 9 mounted on 100 mm fixing centres. Eachrail may be bolted in one of four positions, each with a 10 mm vertical step. These mounting plates are supplied withconnectors 12 to allow wiring between control and protection devices.
Single mounting plates enable the following distribution :- 2-pole (Ph + N) and (Ph + Ph),- 3-pole,- 4-pole (3 Ph + N or 3 Ph + Common).
Double mounting plates enable 3-pole or 4-pole distribution (3 Ph + N and 3 Ph + Common).
Bolt-on width extension plates 10 are also available for mounting wider components. Using a lateral end stop 15 inconjunction with these plates also supports the AK5-JB busbar system when used vertically.
A control terminal block 13, comprising of a support plate bolted onto the single or double mounting plates and a 10-poleplug-in block, enables connection of the control circuit wires (c.s.a. 1.5 mm2 max.).
