b. Find a suitable onboard location for the C-podTheC-podshouldbeinstalledinawellhiddenanddryplaceonboard.Otherfactorsthatmustbeconsideredarecellular(GSM)networkandGPSsignalreception,accesstoconstantpowersupplyandcablelengthsforthesuppliedequipment.
TheC-podmainunitisdesignedtobemountedverticallywithantennasfac-ingdownwards.Adifferentorientationmayaffectthecellular(GSM)networksignalqualityandmoistureprotection.
Thecellular(GSM)networkantennaisattacheddirectlytotheunitandmustbewellabovethewaterline.Avoidplacesshieldedfromcellular(GSM)net-worksignals,e.g.insidemetalboxes,enclosedincarbonfiberetc.
TheC-podmusthaveaconstantpowersupplytoprotectyourboatevenwhenotherequipmentisturnedoffbythebatteryisolationswitch.Makesurethatthereisanappropriatepowersourcewithintherangeofthepowercable.
c. Mount the equipment & connect the partsAttachthetwist-onfastenerinthedesiredlocationusingtwoscrewsorbolts.SecuretheC-podunitbycenteringtheunit’smountingpointtotheguidingpinonthefastenerandtwistingclockwiseorcounter-clockwiseuntiltheunitislockedinplace.TodetachtheC-podunit,twistinanydirectiontoreleaseitfromthefastener.

Thefollowingstepsdescribetheinstallationprocedureintheboat.

Theactivationbuttonshouldbedis- creetlylocatedinsidetheareapro-tectedbythemagneticintrusionsen-sor,sothatitcanbereachedwithin45secondsofenteringtheboattodeactivatethealarms.ThebuttonhasaLEDindicatorinthecenterwhichmustbevisible.Connectthebuttontothecontactmarked I/O on theC-pod.
Attach the magnetic intrusion sensor tothedesireddoororhatch.Whenthedoororhatchisclosedthegapbetweenthemagnet(nocable)andthereedswitch(withcable)mustnotexceed15mmtoavoidanunstableoperationandfalsealarms.Connectthe magnetic intrusion sensor to the contactmarked 1 ontheC-pod.

TheGSMantennascrewsontothecontactmarkedGSMontheC-podunit.
TheGPSantennahasa3metercordthatattachestothecontactmarkedGPSontheunit.Theantennamustbeplacedhorizontallywiththeplasticdomefacingupwards.Findahiddenlocationwithaslittlematerialbetweentheantennaandtheskyaspossible.AvoidlocationsthatmightbeshieldedfromGPSsignals,e.g.closetometalboxesorcarbonfiberetc.Theantennaisnotdesignedtobemountedoutside.Theprovidedhook-and-loopfastenercanbeusedtoattachtheGPSantenna.
Note:TheGPSantennaismagneticandmaydisturbotherequipment,suchascompasses.

Connectthepowerplugtothepow-erportmarkedwith ontheC-pod.TheC-podstartsup.Payattentiontotheflashingoftheactivationbutton,whichshowsthestart-upprogress.
• Theactivationbuttonflashesonce everyseconduntiltheC-podhasconnectedtothestrongestavail-ablecellular(GSM)network.
• Theactivationbuttonflashesonce every3secondsuntilaGPSposi-tionhasbeenreceived.
• Theactivationbuttonflashesonceevery30seconds in normal operatingmodetoindicatethatthesystemisrunning.Thestart-upsequenceiscompleted.

Thecablemustbeprotectedbya1–2Afuse(slow)orathermalcircuitbreakermountedasclosetothepowersourceaspossible.Striptheplus(red)andminus(black)wiresonthepowercableandconnectthemtothepowersourceusingsuitablecableconnectors/cableshoes.

Beforestartingtousethesystemtofullextent,somesettingsneedtobecon-figured.Navigatebyclickingonthemenuitemstotheleft.
a.Action PlanTheActionPlandefineswhichtext(SMS)and/ore-mailmessagesaresenttowhichrecipient(s)incaseanalarmorwarningistriggered.Thecellphonenumberyouusedtocreateyouraccountisalreadyinthelist.Otherreceiverscould,forinstance,beasecuritycompany,aguardinyourmarinaorarela-tive.

a.Verify cellular (GSM) network/GPS positionVerifythattheC-podhasaworkingcommunicationandhasobtainedaGPSposition.Ifthisisunsuccessful,youneedtochecktheinstallationoftheC-podunit.RefertotheTroubleshootingGuide,sectionsCommunicationrelatedproblemand/orGPSrelatedproblems,orcontactyourretailerortheC-podTechnicalSupportifthisdoesnothelp.
b.Billing informationThemonthlyservicefeeisautomaticallychargedtoyourcreditcard(VISAandMaster-cardaccepted).Enteryourcreditcardinformationandproceedwiththefirstmonthlypaymentthroughoursecure(SSL-encrypted)paymentportal.Pleasenotethatnocreditcarddataisstoredonourservers.ThecreditcardusedforthesubscriptioncanbechangedlaterfromyourpersonalC-podwebportal.Youcanalsofindinformationaboutpaymentsandthesubscriptiononline.

ThispartcoversthemostimportantoperatinginstructionsforyourC-podSecuritySystem.ThewebportalisthemostdetailedandconvenientwaytomanageyourC-podSecuritySystem.Thereisamoredetaileddescriptiononeachpageonthewebportal.
System ModeTherearetwosystemmodes,whichofferdifferentfeaturesandsystembehaviors.
Active mode In Activemodethesystemisfullyoperational.Alarmscanbeactivatedanddeacti-
vated,warningsareon.Incaseofanalarmorwarningevent,messagesaresenttotherecipientsspecifiedintheActionPlan.ThesystemdataisupdatedautomaticallyandtheGPRSdatatrafficischeckedhourly.
Passive mode In Passivemodeallalarmsandwarningsareturnedoffandthereisnoactive
monitoringoftheunitbytheC-podServer.Noalarmsorwarningnotificationsaresent.Thismodeisintendedforlongerperiodsduringwhichyoudonotneedorwishtohavealarmprotectionorreceivenotifications,e.g.duringwinterstorageinaprotectedareaorwhentheC-podisturnedoff.
Status reports Gettingastatus reportfromtheC-podSystemispossibleinbothmodes.Thismakes
itpossibletoe.g.checkthebatteryvoltageduringwinterstoragewhenthesystemisinPassivemode.

d.Communication WarningTheCommunicationwarningisturnedoffbydefault.ItmonitorstheGPRSdatatraffic,whichrequiresasufficientcellular(GSM)networksignalquality.Ifthecellular(GSM)networkisstrongatthelocationofyourboat,youcanturniton.Aslongasnowarningmessageissent,thesystemcommunicationisworking.
Ifthecommunicationfailsfourtimesinarow(i.e.after4hours)thecom-municationwarningistriggered.ItisautomaticallyresetwhentheGPRSdatacommunicationworksagain.
Note:Itiscommonthatthestrengthofcellularnetworksvariesdur-ingdayandnight,sothissettingoftenneedstobeevaluatedforawhile.Ifthenetworkistooweak,youoccasionallygetcommunicationwarnings;considerturningitoff.RefertotheTroubleshootingGuide,section Communicationrelatedproblems.

WarningsTherearefourdifferentwarnings.Warningsareresetautomaticallyifthecorrespondingparameterrevertstotheallowedvalue.
Communication Warning TheCommunicationwarningtriggersiftheGPRSdatatraffictoandfromtheC-pod
doesnotwork.Normallythisisduetoaweakcellular(GSM)networkwheretheboatislocated,anddoesnotmeanthattheC-podSystemcannotcommunicateatall.Itusestheslowermethodofdatatext(SMS)messagesinstead.
Battery Level Warning & Power Save Warning TheBatterylevelwarningistriggeredifthevoltagedropsbelowtheuserdefined
value.ThePowersavewarningistriggeredifthevoltagedropsbelow11.2V.Thetwoalarmloopsareturnedoff,sinceavoltagethislowhasanunstableeffectonmostsensors.Also,theC-podreducesthepowerloadontheboat’sbattery.
Note:ItispossibletochangecreditcardbyclickingonMyAccount➔Subscription➔Clickheretochangecreditcard.Inordertochangecardsthereneedstobeatransaction.Ifnochargeisoverdueontheaccountasmallfeewillbereservedandthenreleased(re-payed)within3workdays.Thepageabovewillshowthelastfourdigitsofyournewcreditcardaftertheprocesshasbeencompleted.RemebertoalwaysupdateyourC-podaccountafteryouhavereceivedanewcardfromyourbank/issuer.

AlarmsTherearethreedifferentalarmtypes(fourdifferentalarms)whichcanbeswitchedonandoffbytheuser.Ifanyalarmistriggered,acorrespondingalarmmessageissenttotherecipient(s)specifiedintheActionPlan.AGPStrackingisstartedautomaticallywhichcontinuesaslongasthealarmisintriggeredstate.
Pleasenote:Iftriggeredalarmsarenotresetordeactivatedwithin6hoursthenotifica-tionsareresentasareminder.
Geofence TheGeofencealarmusesGPSpositioningandreactsonunauthorizedmovementof
yourboat.Uponactivation,thecurrentGPSpositionissaved.TheC-podcomparesthesavedpositiontotheactualcurrentpositionseveraltimesaminute.Ifapositionmorethan200m(218yards)awayisdetected,theGeofencealarmtriggers.
Alarm Loops Therearetwoalarmloops,whichworkidentically.Thechoiceofexternalsensorson
theloopsdefineswhattheywillreacton.ThemagneticintrusionsensorfromthebasicpackageisusuallyconnectedtoAlarm loop 1.OptionalequipmentcanreplacethemagneticintrusionsensororisconnectedtoAlarm loop 2(refertotheReferencemanual).Ifthe(normallyclosed)sensorloopisbroken,thecorrespondinglooptrig-gersanalarm.Dependingonwhichsensorsareconnectedtotheloopthattriggered,someoneenteredtheboat(magneticsensorandmotiondetector),afirehasstarted(smokesensor)orwaterisgettingintotheboat(waterlevelsensor).Whenusingtwoormoresensors,werecommendseparatingintrusionandenvironmentrelatedsensorstodifferentalarmloops.
Battery Disconnect Ifthevoltagesuddenlydropsfromthenormalvalueofaround12V(or24V)tozero,the
Batterydisconnectalarmtriggers.ThishappensifthepowersupplytotheC-podiscut.Inthiscase,thealarmloopsareturnedofftosavetheback-upbatterypowerandtomaximizetheGPStrackingduration.

•Theactivationbuttonlocatedinyourboatcanbeusedforactivationjustbeforeleavingtheboat.Pressthebuttonforasecondanditreplieswith4shortflashesasconfirmation.Youhave45secondstoleavetheprotectedareaofyourboatbeforethealarmsareactive.
•Sendthetext(SMS)command activatetotheC-podSystemNumber.Anycommandsmustbesentfromthemaincellphonenumber;otherwisethesystemcannotrecognizeyou.Text(SMS)commandscanbesentwhereveryouare.RefertotheReferencemanual,sectionText(SMS)commands.

! Theactivationbuttonlocatedinyourboatcannotbeusedfordeactivation.Pressingthebuttonwhilealarmsaretriggeredhasnoeffect.Thispreventsapossibleintrudertoturnoffthealarmandtrackingfunctionality.
Re-activatethealarms!Assoonasyouhaveinvestigatedtheproblem,youshouldre-activatethealarmstoensuretheprotectionofyourboat!

Triggered alarmsWhenanalarmistriggered,thesystemrespondsinthefollowingways:
• Alarm notificationsaresenttotherecipientsspecifiedintheActionPlan.
• AGPStrackingstartsinstantly.TheC-podsendsGPSpositionsautomaticallyevery15minutes,aslongasalarmsaretriggeredandaslongastheC-podhaspower.ThesepositionscanbeviewedonthewebportalonthemenuMap.
• Aninstalledsiren(optional)soundsonlywhenanalarmlooptriggers.Duetovariousregulationsandlaws,thealarmsoundsfor3minutes,inintervalsof10secondson,5secondsoff.ItdoesnotsoundonGeofenceandBatterydisconnectalarms;asilenttrackingisprioritizedinthesecases.
Triggeredalarmsrequireimmediateuseraction!Verifywhatisgoingon–getastatusreportandexaminetheresult:
• Geofencealarm–checkiftheboatseemstobemovingorifitmighthavebeenatemporaryfluctuationintheGPSsystem.
• Alarmloop–definedbythesensorsinstalledonthetriggeredloop,determinewhatishappeningontheboat.Deactivateandactivatethealarmstoruleoutafalsealarm.
• Batterydisconnectalarm–checkthebatteryvoltagebygettingastatus.Iftheexternalvoltageisshownas(closeto)zerotheC-podisnotconnectedtotheboat’sbatteryanymore.Itisrunningontheinternalbatterywhichlastsforatleast2daysundernormalconditions.
Takethenecessaryaction;callsomeonewhoisclosetotheboat,yoursecuritycompanyorgoseeforyourselfwhatisgoingon.
Alarmnotificationsareresentevery6hoursasareminder,forallalarmsandtoallrecipientsaccordingtotheActionPlan.Thisdoesnotmeanthatanewalarmhasbeentriggered–triggeredalarmscannottriggeragain!

Text (SMS) commandsText(SMS)commandsareaconvenientwayofobtainingcertaindataorperformingcertaintasks.Thecommandsarecaseinsensitive,butaresensitivetomisspellingandothercharactersthanthecommanditself.
Installation Test ModeTheInstallationtestmodeismainlyintendedfortestingpurposesafterasystemhasbeeninstalledbysomeoneelsethantheend-user,e.g.amarinaoraboatbuilder.
Requirement:TheC-podmustbeunregistered,i.e.noactivationtextmessagehasbeensent.TheC-podconnectstotheC-podserverandchecksifitisactivated.EnteringtheInstallationtestmodeisnotpossibleaftertheactivationtext(SMS)messagehasbeensentandtheaccounthasbeencreated.
Performabasictest-teststhecellular(GSM)networkcommunication,theGPSfunctionalityandtheactivationbutton.

Reboot a unitPerforminganormalrebootoftheunitforcesittogothroughtheinitialstart-upsequence,registeringonacellular(GSM)networkandobtaininganupdatedGPSposition.ItcansolvevariousproblemsthatmightoccurwithyourC-pod.Rebootingaunitonlymakessenseiftheunitalreadyisrunning,i.e.theactivationbuttonisflashing(inanyway).
Whileonboard,performthefollowingsteps:
• Pressandholdtheactivationbuttonfor>30seconds(31secondstobesure),thenreleasethebutton.
