If the GFCI fails to operate in this manner, the GFCI is defective. Connectonlytoacircuitprotectedbyagroundfaultcircuitinterrupter(GFCI).(Forpermanently connectedunits)Agreencoloredterminal(orawireconnector)marked“G,”“GR,”“GROUND,” orGROUNDING”)isprovidedwithintheterminalcompartment.Toreducetheriskofelectric shock,connecttheterminalorconnectortothegroundingterminalofyourelectricserviceor supplypanelwithaconductorequivalentinsizetothecircuitconductorssupplyingthe equipment.

DANGER PROLONGEDIMMERSIONINHOTWATERMAYINDUCE HYPERTHERMIA!Hyperthermiaoccurswhentheinternaltemperatureofthebody reachesalevelseveraldegreesabovethenormalbodytemperatureof98.6°F(37°C).The symptomsofhyperthermiaincludeanincreaseintheinternaltemperatureofthebody,dizziness, lethargy,drowsinessandfainting.Theeffectsofhyperthermiainclude: A. Failuretoperceiveheat. B. Failuretorecognizetheneedtoexitthebath. C. Unawarenessofimpendinghazard. D. Fetaldamageinpregnantwomen. E. Physicalinabilitytoexitthebath. F. Unconsciousnessresultingindangerofdrowning.

DANGER Thisequipmentisintendedforindooruseonly.Installtheequipmentinaccordancewiththese instructions.Usesupplywiresthataresuitablefor167°F(75°C),includingthetemperature ratingofthesupplyconductorstobeused.Thisunitshouldbeelectricallygroundedandinstalled byalicensedcontractor,electrician,andplumber.Buildingmaterialsandwiringshouldberouted awayfromthemotor/pumporblowerorotherheatproducingcomponentsofthisunit.Apressure wireconnectorisprovidedontheexteriorofthemotor/pumpandheatertopermitconnectionof anNo.8AWGsolidcopperbondingconductorbetweenthisunitandallotherelectricequipment andexposedmetalinthevicinity,asneededtocomplywithlocalrequirements.

Allbathtubunitsarefactorytestedforproperoperationandwatertightconnectionspriortoshipping.However,theunitmustberetestedbytheinstallerpriortoinstallation.JacuzziLuxuryBathisnotresponsibleforanydefectthatcouldhavebeendiscovered,repaired,oravoidedbyfollowingthisinspectionandtestingprocedure:

1 Placethebathtubonalevelsurface,nearappropriateelectricalsupply,watersupply,andwaterdrainage.Adrivewayisasuitablechoice.

2 Coverthedrainandoverflowholewithtapeorastopperandfillthebathtubtothebottomoftheoverflowhole.

3 Allowbathtubtostandfor5minutes.

4 Pluginmotor/pumpandturnuniton.ConfirmthatallfeaturesfunctionasdescribedintheOperationsectionofthismanual.Donotinstallthebathtubifbathtubfailstooperateasdescribed.

5 Visuallyinspectalljointsforleaks.Donotinstallthebathtubifleaksaredetected.

6 Returnbathtubtoboxorotherwiseprotectfromdamageuntiltimeofinstallation.

1 Removethebathtubfromtheshippingcarton.Becarefulnottoscratchthesurfaceofthebathtubonexposedstaples.Removethestaplesorfoldthemintothecarton.Retainthecartonuntilsatisfactoryinspectionoftheproducthasbeenmade.Donotliftthebathtubbytheplumbingatanytime;handlebytheshellonly.

2 Inspecttheshellandbathtubcomponents.Shouldinspectionrevealanydamageordefectinthefinishorvisibledamagetoanycomponents,donotinstallthebathtub.Damageordefecttothefinishclaimedafterthebathtubisinstalledisexcludedfromthewarranty.JacuzziLuxuryBath’sresponsibilityforshippingdamageceasesupondeliveryoftheproductsingoodordertothecarrier.

3 Referanyclaimsfordamagetothecarrier.Fordefinitionsofwarrantycoverageandlimitations,refertothepublishedwarrantyinformationpackedwiththeproductorinthebackofthismanual.

CAUTION Keepbodyandhairaminimumof6˝(152mm)awayfromthesuctionfittingatalltimeswhen thehydromassagesystemisinoperation.Hairlongerthanshoulderlengthshouldbesecured closetothehead.

2 Installationusingaground-faultcircuit-interrupter(GFCI)isrequired.

3 Itisthecustomer’sresponsibility: •Tocontactaqualifiedelectricalinstaller. •ToassurethatelectricalinstallationisadequateandinconformancewithNationalElectricalCode(NEC).

ATechnicalSpecificationsManualhasbeenincludedwithyourbathtub.TheTechnicalSpecificationsManualwillcontainpertinentinformationregardingyourJacuzziLuxuryBathproduct.LocatetheTechnicalSpecificationsManualatthistime.

NOTES

Finishedalcovemusthavecorrectinteriordimensions,asshowninthekeydimensionsectionintheTechnicalSpecificationsManual,toproperlyinstallunit.Forthreewallalcoveinstallations,useanintegralmoldedthree-sidedtilingflangebathtub.JacuzziLuxuryBathdoesnotrecommendutilizingbathtubswithoutanintegraltilingflangeinanalcoveinstallationwhereashowerheadwouldbeinstalledabovetheunitandutilizedasashower.

•Inremodeling,ifnecessary,addstudsateachendtoprovideaverticalnailingsurfaceforthesidenailingflangesofbathfixtureproduct.

•Toavoidobstructionsduringinstallationmakesurethatsupplylines,spoutpipeandvalveplumbingdonotprojectintoalcove.

•Bathtubsrequirea6"x12"(150mmx305mm)flooropeningforthe1½"(38mm)drain,wasteandoverflow(DWO)kit.

•Besureflooropeninglocationmatchesbathtubfixturedrainlocation.

•Useofcastingplaster/plasterofparis(foundationmaterial)isrecommendedinallcommercialstructures(i.e.hotels,motels,dormitories,healthclubs,etc.).

•Theunitmustbesupportedfromthebottomofthebathtubandnotsolelyfromthebathtubrim.

•PerUPCcode,accessmustbeprovidedtothepump/motoror blowerforyourspecificmodel(Figure1).Itistheresponsibilityoftheinstaller,buildingcontractor,orownertoprovideaccessforservice.Jacuzziisnotresponsibleforanycostsrelatingtoobtainingaccessforrepair.Theownershallbearsuchcostsand,ifappropriate,mustseekrecoveryfromtheinstaller.Primaryandsecondaryserviceaccesslocationsareshownintherough-indiagramscontainedintheTechnicalSpecificationsManual.

•Provideadequateventilationforcoolingandsupplysufficientairforthepump/motororblower.Donotinsulatearoundthe equipment.

CAUTION

Electricaloutletmustbemounted4˝(101mm)abovethefloorlineand12"max(305mm)insidefromtheedgeofthebathtub(Figure2),orinaccordancewithlocalbuildingandelectricalcodes.

Riskofcomponentoverheat.Donotuseelectricextensioncordtopowerthisunit.Operatingthepumpwithoutenoughwaterinthebathtubcancausepermanentdamagetothepump/motor.

IftheGFCIunitindicatesamalfunction,permanufacturer’sinstructions,turnOFFpoweranddonotattempttousethebathtubuntilthesourceoftheproblemhasbeenidentifiedandcorrected.

1 Preparethesubfloorforthedrainandensurethattheareaislevel.Thedrain/overflowofthebathtubextendsbelowthe bottomofthebathtub.IdentifythedrawingintheTechnicalSpecificationsManualthatcorrespondswithyourbathtub.

2 Jacuzzi’sTru-Level™baseisastandardfeatureonallbathtubs.Ifthesubfloorislevelandacontinuoussurface,noother preparationisnecessary.Proceedtothe“InstallationProcedures”section.

3 Ifthesubfloorisnotlevel,youmustleveltheentiresurfacepriortoinstallingthebathtub.

4 Ensurethatthefloorislevelandcansupportaloadof50lbs.persquarefoot.

5 Thebathtubmustremainlevelinorderforittodrainproperlyandmustmakecontactwiththelevelingmaterial.

NOTESWhenusingelectricalproducts,basicprecautionsshouldalwaysbefollowed:

•Alwaysfollowlocalbuildingandelectricalcodes.Groundingisrequired.Theunitshouldbeinstalledandgroundedbyaqualifiedelectrician.

•Adedicated,120VAC,15AmpGFCI-protectedcircuitisrequiredforthepump/motororblower.Ifthebathtubwaspurchasedwithawhirlpoolheaterinstalled,aseparate 120VAC,15AmpGFCI-protectedcircuitisrequired.Bondinglugsareprovidedonthemotorandheatertosatisfylocal electricalcodes.

3 Inabucket,mixfoundationmaterial.Placealargemoundof plasteronthesubfloor,intheapproximatelocationofthetub bottomcenter.Themoundsshouldbeplacedhighenoughso thatwhenthetubisset,itwillcausetheplastertodisplace andspread.

A. Drop In Installation

1.Placeapieceofscraplumberoneachoftheendsof thecutout–thiswillbeusedasatemporarysupport priortoloweringthebathtubfullyintotheopening (Figure4).

2.Installtheunit,insertingthemotor/pumpendfirst, loweringthebathtubintotheopeningasshownin theillustration.

3.Thebathtubmustbesetlevel.Tocheck,usealevel ontopoftheledgesonbothendsoftubandontop ofthreshold(Figure5).

4.Caulkaroundtheperimeterofbathtubtosealthe spacebetweentherimandthefinisheddeck

B. 3-Wall Alcove Installation

1.Placethetubinthealcovewiththefrontskirtfirmly onthefloor.Thebathtubmustbesetlevel.Tocheck, usealevelontopoftheledgesonbothendsoftub andontopofdam(Figure6).

2.Afterlevelingtub,markeachstud(concreteorblock wall)immediatelyabovethebackhorizontalflange. Removetubfromalcove.Measurethedistance betweenthetopofthebackhorizontalflangeandthe bottomofthetubledgeapproximately1.50"(40mm). Carefullymarkthisdimensiononthebackstuds(or wall),belowthefirstmark(Figure6inset).

3.Jacuzzimandatestheinstallationofaledgerstrip forsupportundertherearledgesofbathtubsto preventshifting.Usehorizontalledgerstripalongthe entirerearledgeor“I”,“T”supportsinatleasttwo placesinverticalposition.Naila1"x3"x60" (25mmx75mmx1525mm)ledgerstripimmediately belowthelowermarksmadeonframing (Figure6-inset).

4.Replaceunitintoalcovewithfrontskirtfirmlyon floor.Makecertainthatbackledgeoftubrestsfirmly onledgersupports.Levelunitandshimledgerif necessary.Thebathtubmustbelevel.

4 Whenotherthancementitiousbackerboardistobeused, furringstripsasthickasnailingflangesarerecommendedfor installationonstudsabovetheinstalledunittoassurewalls willbeflush.100%siliconesealantwithmildewresistant propertiesshouldbeappliedbetweenthebackerboardand horizontalsurfaceofunit(Figure7).Thenfinishedwall materialscanbeapplied.5 Finishingofothertradesshouldbedoneinconformancewith applicablecodesandgenerallyacceptedbuildingpractices.

6 Useaholesaw(finetoothorabrasivegritcuttingedge)to drillholesfordeckmountedtubfittings.

7 Connectflexwatersupplylinestofaucet,connectbathtub drainsandplugpowercordsintoGFCIoutlets.

8 TurnonthepowersupplytothededicatedGFCIprotected circuitsandchecksystemoperation.

9 Caulkaroundtheperimeterofbathtubtosealthespace betweentherimandthefinisheddeck.

5.Whenfasteningwoodframing,pre-drillflangeswitha⅛"(5mm)carbidebitandfastenusing#8x1½"(38mm)self-tapping sheetmetalscrews;toconcrete/blockwallsuse1"(25mm)concretenailswithnailingtoolorimpact.

NOTE Pre-drillingandnailingflangesisrecommendedtoavoidcrackingoftheacrylicunit.Siliconethetopofeachfastenerto insurewatertightness.

6.Spot-fastenthetwobottomcornersandthetwotopcornersoftheverticalsidenailingflange.

7.Nail/fastenateachstudthroughthetopsideflangesateachstud16"(405mm)oncenter,workingfrombothendstoward backcenter.Completethefasteningthroughverticalsideflange,approximately8"(205mm)oncenter.

CAUTIONApplyacontinuousbeadofsiliconesealantaroundtheentireseambetweenthecounterandthebathtubrim.Allowsealanttocureaccordingtomanufacturer’sinstructions.

CleanupToavoiddullingandscratchingthesurfaceofthebathtub,neveruseabrasivecleaners.Formostsoiledsurfaces,amildliquiddetergentandwarmwaterissufficient.Thefollowingisalsorecommended:

• Removespilledplasterwithawoodorplasticedge.Spotsleftbyplasterorgroutcanberemovediflightlyrubbedwith detergentonadampclothorsponge.Donotusemetalscrapers,wirebrushesorothermetaltools,astheywilldamagethe bathtub’ssurface.• Paint,tar,orotherdifficultstainscanberemovedwithFantastik®orsoapywater.• Minorscratcheswhichdonotpenetratethecolorfinishcanberemovedbylightlysandingwith600-gritwet/drysandpaper. Youcanrestoretheglossyfinishtotheacrylicsurfaceofthebathtubwithaspecialcompound,Meguiar’s#10MirrorGlaze.If thatisnotavailable,useautomotiverubbingcompoundfollowedbyanapplicationofautomotivepastewax.• Majorscratchesandgougeswhichpenetratetheacrylicsurfacewillrequirerefinishing.CallJacuzziLuxuryBathtofinda serviceagentinyourarea.

AllbathtubsmanufacturedbyJacuzziLuxuryBatharedesignedfor“fillanddrain,”whichmeansthebathtubshouldbedrainedaftereachuseandfilledwithfreshwaterbythenextbather.Thisisahealthprecaution,asthesebathtubsarenotdesignedtoholdwatercontinuouslylikepoolsorspas.

Closethedrainandfillthebathtubuntilwaterisatleast1˝to2˝(25mmto51mm)abovethehighestjetorairinjector(seewaterlineindicatedintheillustration-Figure8).Donotturnonthewhirlpoolorairbathsystematanytimeifthejetsorairinjectorsarenotcompletelyimmersedinwater.Runningthewhirlpoolorairbathsystemwhenthereisinsufficientwaterinthebathtubcouldresultinwatersprayingoutsidethebatharea.

NOTE Whenexitingthebathtub,thewaterlevelwilldropbelowthejetswhichcouldresultinwaterbeingsprayed outoftheunit.Topreventthis,youmustturnunitOFFbeforeexitingbathtub.

• Positionthetemplatesothatthedesiredundermount guidelinesarealignedwiththerimedgeasshown.• Usingagreasepencil,markthecenterlines(denoted by ontemplate).Removetemplate.• Measurethedistancefromthewall,orotherfixedpoint, tothecenterlines.

Affixcountertobathtub.Cleananydirtordebrisfromthetopofthebathtubrim.Applyabeadofsiliconesealantaroundtheentirerimofbathtub.

Donotuseanadhesiveoradhesivesealanttosecurethecountertothebathtub.Ifmaintenanceorremodelingisrequired,thecountermayhavetoberemoved.Adhesivewillpermanentlybondthecountertothebathtub.Carefullypositionthedeck/counteroverthebathtub.Followmanufacturer’sinstructionstodeterminecuretime.

Purging the Air BathTheairbathblowerwilloperatefor20-minutesandthenautomaticallyshutofftoendthebath,unlesspowerismanuallyturnedoff.Ineithercase,twentyminutesaftertheblowerhasshutdown,theblowerwillturnONfora1-minutedryingcycletoblowoutanywaterremainingintheairchannel.

Ifthebathisusedwithoutthebloweroperating(showeringorbathingwithoutusingtheblower),initiatethe1-minutedryingcyclemanuallybyuseoftheON/OFFswitch.TurntheswitchONandOFFagainasyouexitthebathandthedryingcyclewilloccurintwentyminutes.
