From the Principal’s Pen 24 th September 2015 Dear Parents and Carers ASSEMBLY A delightful assembly item from Mrs Liddelow and Mrs Thorpe’s Year 2 class completed our term 3 on a happy note. The children confidently conducted the assembly. They cleverly discussed, using persuasive text, boys versus girls arguments. Both boys and girls presented very powerful and funny arguments as to who was best leaving us in no doubt that both have their merits! An enjoyable poem, “Once I Laughed My Socks Off” intrigued the audience with the incredible pranks and movements of socks, finally to be tamed inside a shoe, and so it should be. We loved your wonderful array of multi coloured socks Year 2. Congratulations and thank you for your entertaining item. SCHOOL PLANNING Mrs Jane Rowlands, Literacy and Numeracy State Wide Services Consultant conducted a visioning session recently at a specially convened meeting of P & C and Council members. It is vitally important for parents as partners in education to have the opportunity to share their vision for the school. Members came up with some interesting and refreshing ideas and words relating to the vision, which will now be combined with staff ideas and words for a final statement. This will be communicated in a future newsletter. NUMERO Congratulations Castletown Numero teams for their distinguished efforts in Numero at the recent district competition. Our 6 teams were in the first 8 in the competition with first place to Castletown Mathematical Marbles. This team will now go forward to compete against teams in Perth from across the state. Special thanks and congratulations to our teachers for training our students and to Mr Ashley Weckert for his leadership and driving force with Numero in the school. PARENT OPEN NIGHT A large number of parents and students came out last Thursday to view and enjoy the wonderful array of student work for the occasion. From the very positive and impressive remarks from parents we should all be proud as a community of our students and their endeavours. Thank you to the many parents who contributed to the evening with the much appreciated and delicious sausage sizzle. WILDFLOWER FESTIVAL Congratulations to Mrs Tolman’s Year 3 students for their clever artistic entries in the Anglican Wildflower Festival and to the two winners Vaughan Clarkson Jones and Teliah Timms. SCHOOL GARDEN Congratulations to Ms Kidd’s Year 4 for their diligent gardening over several terms and for now enjoying the fresh, crisp products of their hard work. We are all enjoying their lovely lettuce! PARENT SURVEY A reminder to all parents, we need your input and opinions of your child’s school.
