Inspection Procedure of
Masonite Doors
Inspection Requirements
• All special order units must be inspected within 48 hours of receiving product
• All stock units must be inspected within 30 days of receiving product
• Store must call customer service to report damage within 48 Hrs. The store then needs to call their local TSM to inspect the unit and submit the RGA request paperwork
Inspection Procedure Verify the Order
• Check labels to ensure that door matches what was ordered
• Verify on computer that door and label match what store ordered
Inspection – Remove from Pallet
• Move pallet to an open space and remove plastic wrap surrounding doors
Inspection – Remove from Pallet
• Unscrew doors from pallet one by one, inspecting each unit as you remove it
Inspection – Interior Doors
• Remove plastic straps and cardboard surrounding door
• Inspect unit for damage or defects
• Check frame and slab for cracks,
splits, dents, etc.
Inspection – Interior Doors• Replace cardboard and apply tape to hold
cardboard in place
• Can add paper where tape will touch slab if concerned about tape damaging the door
Inspection – Exterior Doors• Remove plastic straps and cardboard protecting the
door• Inspect door for damage or defects
• Inspect slab as well as frame• If a prehung unit, remove plastic piece holding
door in place, open door, and inspect at the hinges and along the edges of the slab
• As with an interior door, replace plastic piece and cardboard, and use tape to hold cardboard in place
Inspection – Prefinished Doors• If unit is prefinished, inspect paint/stain/image layer* to
ensure that there are no defects or blemishes
• Doors come with a touch-up kit if prefinished; some minor defects can be touched up so as to avoid waiting on a reorder
• Check touch up kit to make sure it is the correct color
*Only the AvantGuard door has an image layer, rather than a paint or stain, as seen in 1st and 3rd picture
After Inspection is Complete
• Store doors in will call area or in a bay so as to avoid damage
Sending Pictures to TSM or Factory
• If submitting a request for an RGA, at least 3 pictures are required (example below)
1. Picture of yellow or pink label on side of jamb
2. Picture of the entire unit
3. Picture(s) of the damage or defect
• Make sure the pictures are clear so that the damage/defect can easily be seen; you may have to take multiple pictures
