The services ITS supplies in the maintenance of major works meet the principles of safety, works continuity and financial planning. In this perspective, the maintenance activity represents the arrival point of a process which starts from the inspection and ends in the project. ITS employs high qualified and specialized personnel in the inspections, who is fundamental for the certain result of the intervention.

ITSInspection Department

ITS Inspection is a highly specialized department of ITS engineering company, which proposes the inspection of major civil engineering works and the management of their further phases. These activities are aimed at defining the state of decline of the works, at identifying their state of vulnerability and, if necessary, at monitoring it over time.

The strong point of ITS Inspection is the team, composed by civil engineers qualified in rope access services (D.L. 81/2008). They can count on the ability to reach all those parts of the works that are in arduous and difficult to reach position, practicing rock-climbing and using special means (such as by-bridge, helicopter, drone and aerial work-platforms). Moreover, the personnel is qualified in the execution of CND visual-magnetoscopic controls under UNI EN ISO 9712:2012 to test the equipment, the systems, the structures and the metallic ropes before and during the activity.

The services are performed in accordance with the innovative RTA method:research-training-action.

RESEARCH. The engineers team organizes and studies in advance the activities to fulfill, through specifically appropriate research techniques. TRAINING. Then the team is trained and informed by the proprietor about the services requested.ACTION. Finally the team goes on to the activities on site, aware of a thorough knowledge and the necessary critical skill.

Among the many institutions and companies whom ITS Inspection supplies its services there is the Compartmental Headquarters of ANAS Spa Venice, Milano Serravalle-Milano Tangenziali Spa, Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and the province of Treviso.

TECHNICAL INSPECTIONS

Technical inspection services particularly on those difficult to access to, because in hostile and inaccessible environment and, therefore, need the use of rock-climbing or special means:• inspections on structural works• inspections of bridges• inspections of dams• inspections of defense works• inspections of historical and monumental works• inspections of road and railway works• inspections of offshore structures• video-inspections in places not accessible to man

CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS ON MATERIALS

Control and inspection services carried out on all kind of materials used for the construction of civil works, in particular on those difficult to access to, because in hostile and inaccessible environment and, therefore, need the use of rock-climbing or diving techniques or special means:• non-destructive structural and geotechnical checks• sample taking of geotechnical and structural materials• destructive checks on-site of geotechnical and structural materials• inspections of welding• inspections of paint thickness

LOAD TESTS AND TESTS

Management and execution of tests in civil works, in particular on those difficult to access to, because in hostile and inaccessible environment and, therefore, need the use of rock-climbing or special means:• dynamic test executed with “vibrodina” (a vibrating device that is transportable by helicopter)• load tests executed with water-bed kit• load tests executed with hydraulic jack kit• load tests executed with the use of “tirfor” rope winches• other types of inspection tests specially defined according to needs

VULNERABILITY OF THE WORKS

Execution of analysis and evaluation reports concerning the vulnerability of civil and industrial construction, works of historical and artistic interest as well as infrastructural systems, hydraulic works, dams and defense constructions.The service provides criteria, methods and programs for the seismic hydrological, hydraulic and environmental prevention and specific plans the several interventions; moreover, it performs the monitoring.The specialized staff that makes up the service also cooperates with other skilled sub-sectors, caring the organization coordination and report of the results concerning studies directed the interventions capable to reduce vulnerability and on the post-emergency works:• final element modeling and analysis on structural works• final element modeling and analysis on bridges• final element modeling and analysis on historical and monumental works• final element modeling and checks on lands• simulation models for studies and projects concerning hydraulic reorganization• modeling of flood-events and overflows of watercourses• dynamic analysis of debris flows on urbanized alluvial fan

ITS engineering company pays specific attention to the contemporary themes of the care and maintenance of infrastructures, of works and of lands in contexts of a developed economics and of the sustainable development in emerging contexts. ITS uses the complexity as the method to approach problems, the multidisciplinarity as the instrument and the sustainability as the aim. Coherently to this, ITS is based on a model of evolutionary governance which has an open structure organized in departments and which is flexible in the use of sources. This model is oriented to the development of high specialized competences and it is part of a growth project called AUCTUS 2016. It collects the experience reached among the years, updated in languages, instruments and competences to then use them in the ongoing transformation processes.

Thanks to AUCTUS 2016 (from Latin, this word means development, growth), the Company is organized in engineering sites with specialized and devoted personnel and a director for each department. This allows to have a management and development autonomy. ITS Inspection is the first specialized department of ITS, it was born in 2012 thanks to the experience of the inspection and the installation of a monitoring system in a remote station on bridge Cadore, along the road SS51 near town Tai di Cadore.
