Alice Pirola joined Mary Kay in 1991 and was a
former paralegal and legal secretary. She
earned her First Free Mary Kay Car in 1997
and has been driving free cars ever since. Alice
loves working with Mary Kay because besides
making women feel and look good, she
constantly gets to meet new people and forge
new relationships.
Alice joined the Chamber 3 years ago and became a Diplomat
this year. She loves being a Diplomat because of the opportunity
to meet new people and businesses. It also gives her an inside
track of what is going on at the Chamber. Alice is also President
of Business & Professional Women's Association in Hernando
County and enjoys being active in the county with fundraisers.

HCSO Offers CERT Class
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management Section is looking for volunteers over 18 who are interested in joining the Hernando County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
CERT volunteers receive special training which enhances their ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a disaster situation. As an organized team, they provide vital services in the absence of emergency responders, whose arrival may be delayed due to the severity of the situation.
The next training class will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016. Classes will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. every Wednesday night until February 24, 2016 in the Emergency Operations Center, 18900 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, Florida 34601. Previous emergency experience is not required. The training, materials, and equipment are provided free of charge. CERT members must pass a required background check including fingerprints.

2nd Annual Brooksville Library 5K & Kids Fun Run
In partnership with the YMCA of the Suncoast, the Hernando County Public Library System is hosting the Second Annual Brooksville Library 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, February 27, 2016. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Main Library in downtown Brooksville and continues through the historic hills of Brooksville. The Kids Fun Run will immediately follow. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Library of Hernando County, Inc. and the YMCA of the Suncoast.
There will be a free Couch to 5K program offered through the YMCA designed to support and encourage anyone who wants to participate in the race, but is not yet a runner. The Couch to 5K training will use weekly group runs and social media to get area residents off the couch and to the finish line. Registration in the Couch to 5K is free, but participants must be registered in the Brooksville Library 5k event on February 27. An informational kick-off participant meeting will be held on Thursday December 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA in Spring Hill.
