Immerse yourself in another world as you travel 7 hours across the Hecate Strait from Prince Rupert to Graham Island, the largest of the Haida Gwaii archipelago. Admire the towering totem poles as you travel north along the rocky coastline to the secluded town of Tlell—known for its rich Indigenous culture. From there, take a Zodiac to the remote village of ’uuna Llnagaay (Skedans), search for ancient Haida artifacts in the lush temperate rainforests of Naikoon Provincial Park with an optional visit to Old Massett and Port Clements, or enjoy an afternoon kayaking the protected waters of Masset Inlet. However you choose to spend your days, Haida Gwaii’s natural beauty, cultural history and laid-back lifestyle are sure to charm you.

Leave Vancouver behind and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Head up the coast, where you can explore oceanside communities along northern Vancouver Island before embarking on a 16 -hour ferry trip from Port Hardy. As you set sail through the Inside Passage, look for otters, seals, eagles and other wildlife living in the lush landscape. Upon reaching the secluded port of Prince Rupert, you can admire the magnicent grizzly bears that call Khutzeymateen Provincial Park home, or travel oshore to watch orcas and humpback whales as they roam around the rugged coast. To complete your trip, drive south along the Cariboo Highway through eclectic mountain towns, before returning to the bustling city of Vancouver.
† Grizzly bear tour is oered May 12 – July 30, 2019; whale-watching tour is oered August 2 – September 14, 2019.
‡ All marine excursions require the ability to climb in and out of a vessel (cruiser or Zodiac) on to the shore, as many ancient villages are only accessible by ‘beaching’ the vessel (no dock). The paths at the village sites are generally rugged and cannot accommodate wheeled walkers adequately. It is recommended to bring walking sticks or canes for those with concerns about balance on uneven ground. This is a weather-dependent activity; itinerary is subject to change.
