Back2Boro Launch Night Soon (Source: Scarborough Athletic)
A campaign to get Scarborough Athletic playing back in their home town is set to officially launch soon.
Back2Boro already has a steering group in place and plans being made for fundraising and awareness projects.
4 KoolSport Northern Counties East League 2009/10 Newsletter - Issue 13 - 8th February, 2010
The campaign will be officially launched with a social evening at the end of February – the Back2Boro Launch Night.
The event, being held at Scarborough Rugby Club's Silver Royd stadium on Saturday February 27th, will be free admission as the campaign group invites everyone to attend.
Invites will soon be going out to local sports groups and teams and the town's businesses, and of course supporters of the club and anyone else who wants to come along are invited.
On the night there will be entertainment from local DJ Steve French - a former Scarborough FC player - and there will be a quiz with a cash prize, a raffle and an auction of sporting memorabilia.
The auction will include some old and sought after Scarborough FC playing shirts which have been donated from his own collection by Norwegian supporter Are Guttelvik, as well as playing shirts from Scarborough Athletic's first season.
James Hunter, club director and B2B co-ordinator said: "We all hope for a large turnout to get the campaign off to a successful start, and it would be great to see local sporting people become involved.
"The event is not only about Scarborough Athletic FC and raising funds to help with the club's return home, but we also hope the event can act as a networking evening at which all local sporting groups and supporters can come together and chat about the issues of sport in Scarborough today.
"At the forefront of our minds is of course the provision of a new ground for Scarborough Athletic FC.
"And, we back the council 100% in their plan for a sports village at Weaponness.
"But we are also mindful of other sporting groups' needs and aspirations, and it will be good to talk to those people in a relaxed atmosphere – as well as have a fun evening."

Wrens Strengthen for Title Push (Source: Rainworth Miners Welf)
Premier Division title hopefuls Rainworth Miners Welfare have strengthened their squad for the run-in to the end of the season with the acquisition of two players.
Free-scoring Hallam hotshot Simon Asquith, who has scored 24 goals in all competitions for the Sheffield side this season, put pen to paper last Thursday night.
And, last night, Glapwell's experienced and much travelled midfielder Asa Ingall became the latest recruit as the Wrens seek to strengthen their bid to bring UniBond League football to Kirklington Road.
Neither were eligible to play in the 2-1 Notts Senior Cup victory over neighbours Teversal, but both will go straight into the squad to visit Parkgate on Saturday.
Commenting on the signings, manager Rudy Funk said: "Simon Asquith is an unbelievable signing.
"Everyone in the league is aware of his ability as a terrific goal scorer, and I'm looking forward to seeing him alongside Massiah McDonald, or Ant Lynam.
"The extra options he will bring to the attack are endless.
"Asa has joined from Glapwell, but he's been around in the UniBond League with Sheffield, Brigg, Goole, Belper Town and Eastwood Town and will bring a wealth of experience and great leadership in the middle of the park."
Meanwhile, Rainworth's bid for promotion continues with their Kirklington Road stadium having been inspected for Step 4 level on Monday.
Although the official report is awaited, the ground graders said how impressed they were by the facilities, but have nevertheless given the club a few tasks to carry out, none of which is likely to be any major problem, in advance of the 31st March deadline.

Kids Prices Scrapped at Brodsworth (Source: Brodsworth Welfare)
Brodsworth Welfare have reduced their entrance prices in a bid to get more children watching their home matches.
The KoolSport NCEL Premier side's committee have scrapped their under 16 admission prices for their first team games at the Welfare Ground Stadium until the end of the season.
A club spokesman said: "Brodsworth have had the aim this season of trying to connect with the local community this season, something which has proved harder than first thought.
"So, in a bid to get more of the younger community down to first team games, we have taken this step and all schools in the local area will be notified to invite their children to our games, free of charge.
"We also hope the increased attendance will create a buzz around the ground during matches, giving our players a much needed boost."
For the first time ever, a KoolSport NCEL fixture will form part of the Central Midlands League's annual Groundhoppers Bonanza Weekend.
This year's event focuses on the Humberside area but organisers were left without a Friday night match after the original tie had to be cancelled due to a double pitch booking.
So, it has been agreed that Barton Town Old Boys' Division One match at home to Tadcaster Albion - due to be played on Saturday 6th March - will now take place a day earlier to fill that gap.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm at the Euronics Ground and is expected to be a brilliant start to what is always a fantastic event.

Seasiders Sign Hogg from Tenants (Source: Bridlington Town)
Bridlington Town have signed striker Craig Hogg from neighbours and ground tenants Scarborough Athletic.
A club spokesperson said: "Craig has long been admired by manager Gary Allanson and assistant Phil Harrison and will be a valued and welcomed addition to the squad.
"His signing will further add to the title push in the run in to the season.
"Other quality players are also being actively pursued by the management duo with more fresh faces at Queensgate expected in the near future."

Change of Boss at Moorlands (Source: KoolSport NCEL)
There has been a change of management at struggling KoolSport NCEL Premier Division side, Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Darren Dye has left the club following a committee meeting on Tuesday evening and has been replaced by former Lincoln United assistant manager, Chris Moyses.
Moyses takes over a Newark Road side who are currently next-to-bottom of the division, five points behind Shirebrook Town who are eighteenth but with four games in hand.
His assistant will be Baz Barker who was alongside him at Lincoln United as a coach.
Their first match in charge is a trip to title challengers Rainworth Miners Welfare on Tuesday evening.

28th January, 2010 - Match Review #43 Rainworth Miners Welfare have returned to the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division as the title race took another twist in midweek.
A hard fought 2-0 win at Dinnington Town has put them two points clear of Bridlington Town who drew their match at home to third placed Armthorpe Welfare.
Danny Naylor opened the scoring for the Wrens on the half hour before Massiah McDonald doubled their advantage on 58 minutes and earned Rudy Funk’s side a priceless victory – their fifteenth successive league win.
But, there was a blow for Rainworth as McDonald, who has scored six goals in their last three matches, was sent off towards the end of the game and now faces a suspension.
Bridlington, meanwhile, found themselves behind to Armthorpe through a nineteenth minute Henry Sibenge strike but had put themselves in a dominant position by the break with a Frank Belt penalty and a Wayne Wallace goal.
James Walker, however, made sure it was honours even on 64 minutes but there still remains a ten point gap between Armthorpe and Bridlington – leaving the title chase, at the moment, as a two horse race.
Leeds Carnegie’s lead at the top of Division One has been cut to six points after they could only draw at home to fourth-placed Tadcaster Albion on Monday.
They needed a late Marcel Okoro goal to salvage a point after Steven Jeff had given the visitors a first half advantage.
Carnegie’s closest rivals are now AFC Emley whose surge up the table continued with a 2-0 win at Grimsby Borough on Wednesday, thanks to a Josh Wright penalty and a Marc Townsend strike.
Bottom side Eccleshill United picked up their
first home win of the season as they beat fellow strugglers Glasshoughton Welfare on Tuesday.
Jermaine Moyce had the visitors ahead on 40 minutes but Scott Price and Declan Corby hit back for the hosts after the break.
A Liam Salt double helped Pickering Town to progress in the North Riding Senior Cup with a 4-1 victory over Kirkbymoorside.
He had them two up by the 64th minute before Darren Clough made it three in an eventful last ten minutes where the Wearside League outfit then pulled one back and Christian Fox concluded the scoring as the game went into injury time.
And, Yorkshire Amateur beat league rivals Selby Town 2-1 to move into the Quarter- Finals of the West Riding County Cup.
Tesfa Walton and Fernando Moke gave them a clear lead before half-time whilst Steve Lyon grabbed a late consolation for the Robins.
31st January, 2010 - Match Review #44 Bridlington Town are back top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division as their game at Shirebrook Town was one of only four in the top flight that survived the overnight frost and snow.
Nathan Hotte gave them a tenth minute lead at Langwith Road but Brett Peel quickly brought the hosts back level.
However, Bridlington found themselves well in control by just after the half-hour mark as Ashley Allanson and Alex Rhodes gave them a two-goal advantage.
Joe Storer pulled one back for the hosts in second half injury time but the 3-2 victory puts Bridlington ahead of previous leaders Rainworth Miners Welfare by one point.
None of the other top four were in action, meaning that Thackley could themselves E

move into the leading quartet with a 2-0 win at Liversedge.
They go above Scarborough Athletic thanks to a second half brace from Luke Hudson.
Selby Town stay sixth but close the gap on the top five after their 1-0 win at bottom side Brodsworth Welfare, Scott Pickles with the goal on 53 minutes.
They are now three points clear of seventh-placed Arnold Town who went down 2-1 at home to Dinnington Town.
Peter Smith and Liam Cartledge had the visitors two-up by the 33rd minute before Craig Evans grabbed a late consolation for the Eagles.
Things were a lot busier in Division One where only one match fell victim to the weather but it was a day that saw the top four all fail to win.
Leaders Leeds Carnegie were beaten 2-1 by visitors Barton Town Old Boys but their lead was only cut by one point to five as second placed AFC Emley drew 1-1 at home to Appleby Frodingham.
Emley had gone ahead on 52 minutes with a Lee Hill goal but Jack Siddall claimed a point with an equaliser with less than a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Staveley Miners Welfare remain third after a 4-1 defeat at Rossington Main.
Jason Stokes, William McGhie, Jake Vernon and Jonathan Mirfin grabbed the home side’s goals whilst Christopher Coy netted for Staveley when they were 3-0 down.

4th February, 2010 - Match Review #45 Bridlington Town missed out on a chance to extend their lead at the top of the KoolSport NCEL Premier Division as they fell to a 4-2 defeat at home to Parkgate on Tuesday.
Things were going well for the Seasiders as Wayne Wallace and Nathan Hotte had them two-up by the 21st minute.
But, Parkgate produced a magnificent turn-around to put more space between themselves and the bottom two.
Nathan Swindells and Andrew Gascoigne put them level by the interval before Leon Wainman scored their third on 53 minutes and Swindells made sure of the victory with his second in the last quarter-of- an-hour of the game.
Parkgate move up to fourteenth whilst Bridlington stay one point ahead of Rainworth Miners Welfare. Third-placed Armthorpe Welfare moved to within nine points of the top two as they won 4-1 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare.
All of the five goals came in the second half as a Liam Hardy brace plus strikes from Paul Ashton and James Walker made it a comfortable evening for the hosts.
Graham Marchant got an injury time consolation for Nostell.
Glasshoughton Welfare moved out of the bottom three of Division One with a 3-1 victory over visitors, Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Jermaine Moyce and Alan Jackson scored in the first half, Calum Selby pulled one back for Hemsworth on 75 minutes but Jackson, making his debut after signing from Tadcaster Albion, made sure of the win with his second soon after.
