Sean Racer used to be an energetic wildcat youth hooked, on cycling. Now he’s a 40-something tax inspector on the brink of a personal crisis.
Turning to Claude, an oddball ex-pro cycle mechanic, and encouraged by the wily Linda, a serial tax evader keen to distract him from taking a closer look at her books, Sean hatches a plan to get his life back on track and on two wheels. He will fulfill a youthful dream; to ride the Tour de France. That’s right, he’s going the distance, albeit on a bike
on rollers in his shed. Will he make it to the finish?
LOST BOY RACER is a quirky northern comedy-drama with a touch of blood, sweat and tears, a large dose of fun, some off-the-wall bike action and a love story of sorts.
This world premiere is part of the Yorkshire Festival 2014, the county wide cultural festival in celebration of Le Tour de France Grand Départ.
HTCLP members can get tickets for LOST BOY RACER for just £10, saving you up to £4. Simply call the LBT box office on 01484 430528 and quote ‘HTCPL OFFER’.

It’s a Knock Out was a great success again this year. The six teams that took part raced and chased for the 2014 it’s a Knockout Challenge title.
The winners were, Brewfitt / Paxman Coolers with Abzorb coming in a very close second. Wm Sykes, Stafflex, Kirklees Stadium Development (John Smith’s Stadium), Sodexo and Huddersfield Town took part in the fun and games too. Huddersfield Town did exceptionally well this year, not only did they not get disqualified but they came in third. Well done and THANK YOU to everyone that played a part, we had fun on the day and it is a great opportunity to network and put the team through some team building activities but when the day is over and we reflect on what we have achieved, it was good to know that this year the Huddersfield Town Foundation benefited from the funds raised.
The Town Foundation’s Fund Raising Officer, Mandy Taylor said “Our mission is to make a significant difference to the lives of children and young people in our community and any donation made is directed into innovative and unique initiatives including our “Early Kick-Off Breakfast Clubs” which have served over 110,000 healthy and delicious free breakfasts across 15 clubs in Kirklees”

Central Lodge news
After reading an article in the Huddersfield Examiner regarding the University and its international links, Joe Marsden of The Huddersfield Central Lodge Hotel made the following comment.
“The news regarding the overseas visitors to the town prompted me to look at our statistics for 2013. It shows that our guests are very multinational.
81% were from the UK, 5% from the USA, 5% from the EU, 4% from China, 1% from India and 4% from the rest of the world.
Approximately 72% of all overseas

Members news Baa Baa Brighouse – Have you any Wool? Baa Baa Brighouse is a brand new
online knitwear and yarn store which
opened its virtual woolly doors to the
public in April.
The shop, which specialises in unique
hand knitted accessories and Yorkshire
yarns has been set up by current Editor
of The Scallymag and Huddersfield
Partnership member Elaine Jinks-
Turnerr.
Elaine, a mother-of-three, was taught
to knit as a child but rediscovered her
passion for the craft following a lengthy
bout of post-natal depression following
the birth of her daughter, Florence,
aged three.
She has since turned her “therapy” into
a business and has sourced beautiful
knitting yarns from across Yorkshire,
the home of the woollen and textile
industry, in order to showcase the very
best the county has to offer.
Elaine said: “I knit a range of accesso-
ries from the finest yarns available in-
cluding scarves, shawls, wraps, hats,
gloves and bags – each one a little
different from the last, with a definite
vintage feel.
Baa Baa Brighouse stocks yarn from the
popular West Yorkshire Spinners in
Keighley, County Alpacas in Sowerby
Bridge, Eden Cottage Yarns in Leeds
and Laura’s Loom in the North York-
shire Dales> She stocks knitwear from
well-known designer, Erika Knight,
whose British yarn is spun at Laxton’s in
Guisley and world famous knitwear
designer, Louisa Harding, who is based
in Holmfirth. All of the yarn produced
has strong connections to Yorkshire.
Baa Baa Brighouse is committed to
using wool in at least 75% of the
knitted products it sells and as a result
has joined the Campaign for Wool,
whose patron is HRH the Prince of
Wales.
Elaine said the next step for Baa Baa
Brighouse is to exhibit at local artisan
craft fairs and markets in and around
Calderdale and Kirklees, making it a
truly local business with a physical
presence.
Baa Baa Brighouse will also be hosting
learn to knit workshops in Brighouse
and beyond, details of which will be
