ZIP– Shared Mail to Non-SubscribersZIP shared mail is our Monday-Tuesday AJC non-subscriber advertis-ing insert program, with USPS distribution available throughout the 29-county Atlanta metro area. Advertising preprints are inserted into REACH, our 100% USPS mailbox-delivered, non-subscriber publica-tion with an average of 1.5 million deliveries each week. Choose to insert your preprint in only those ZIP codes or postal routes that meet your marketing needs at rates far below the cost of solo mail. Where ZIP is utilized in combination with ZAP, 100% total market coverage is provided. Solo direct mail to non-subscribers and/or subscribers is also available, at higher rates, throughout the 29-county area.

Solo Direct Mail RatesAdvertisers requesting exclusive (solo) mail, a different mail date, distribution outside the primary ZIP area or mailing a piece weigh-ing more than 2 ounces are charged actual postage plus handling. Pieces which are ink-jet addressed are charged $2184M handling, while pieces requiring labels are charged $2814M.

Weight Factors for ZIP All ZIP charges are calculated according to weight. Products weighing more per piece than the average weight shown in shared mail rates above will be charged at the higher solo mail rate. Mini-tabs are also charged on weight-per-piece basis. Products weigh-ing more than 2 ounces per piece (an average of 20 tab pages) must be mailed solo. Shared mail pieces with weights between the increments shown above will be charged at the next higher level. Each two tab-size newsprint pages weigh approximately .2 ounces.

Postal Rate Adjustments ZIP rates are based on standard enhanced carrier route postal rates; therefore, they may be adjusted when postal rates increase. Rate quotes at lower rates will not be honored after postal rate increases.

Minimum Purchase There is a minimum purchase requirement of 5,000 households with ZIP; either shared or solo mail.

Preprint DeliveriesDelivery To Newspaper Deadline Inserts should be delivered between 17 and 10 days prior to pub-lication date. Inserts delivered more than 30 days in advance of publications are subject to a storage charge.

The actual solo mail cost, when using the REACH address universe, for pieces weighing up to 3.3 ounces, is estimated between $161-167/M, including all handling charges.
