(www.gettysburgfestival.org) The following weekend on Saturday, 16 June…we are performing 2:45-3:45pm at “In & Out of the Garden We Go” festival at Snipes Farm in Morrisville, PA hosted by Gig Goals!!! (www.musicatsnipesfarm.com) As if THAT’S not enough…the very next Saturday, 23 June…we are performing at “Piggypalooza II” at Ross Hill Farm in Rushland, PA!!! (www.rossmillfarm.com) These three extremely fun & well-run Music & Art Festivals will be an absolute BLAST, and will mean very valuable regional/national exposure for us…and we plan to SEIZE THE DAY!!! We truly hope you can & will come out for the fun, & to support a very hard- working & ready for the next phase band!! Hopefully by now, you have been able to attend our “Wood & Steel” acoustic shows every Wednesday evening at the new & brilliant “Blue and Gray Bar & Grill” in Gettysburg, PA!!! This house is AWESOME!!! These nights are SO MUCH fun, and the crowd has been CRAZY!!! The combination of upbeat ambiance, enthusiastic staff, outstanding food, & great acoustic folk- rock has made this THE ONLY event in the ‘burg during the week to attend!! We’d like to take a moment to extend a very sincere THANK YOU to each & every one of you for taking the time to keep up with our news, lend us your encouragement, and continue to support this band...We Love You Very Much!!! Stringz-n-Thingz…
I’d like to take some time this month to recognize our incredibly enthusiastic & dedicated fans!!! Called “Handers” by some, “BlackHeadz” by others…the fans of this band are our hugest support and source of inspiration!! Because of BlackHand’s insistence on rotating a huge song list & never repeating a show, these incredible folks refuse to miss a show, if humanly possible!! Carpooling & rideshares, accomplished through true friendship & great networking have become the norm!! If someone falls on tough times or car problems, another family member is always willing to help out!! It is amazing to the band to witness how readily you all look out for each other…but truly love & support each other while friendships grow in some of the maybe unlikely places!! I’d like to think that BlackHand’s music & performances encourage that kind of fellowship!! We are HONORED by ALL of your support…LONG

The Key is…
Boy, this summer is going to be a great one for BlackHand music lovers! We have a bunch of great music festivals lined up, starting with the Gettysburg Festival this Sunday afternoon! As a musician, it's as true with anyone I guess, I've had a checklist of things I wanted to accomplish musically...well this In and Out the Garden We Go festival could very well check two more off that list. I'm really excited to meet a couple of people I have wanted to meet for a long time; Toni Brown and Ed Munson (Look 'em up!)! We open for them at the Piggypalooza II Fest, also this month. We have the Blue, Blues, and You festival for the ABATE folks and I really can't wait for this all to begin. For more information on festival dates, times, ticket prices...check out our website

The Drum Circle…
Technique, Technique, Technique.....
As most of you know, we have been enjoying doing "Wood & Steel" acoustic shows the last few Wednesday nights. That, and a few quiet evenings jamming with friends, has really shown me how much I miss the hand drums. It has also made me realize the importance of technique. After that first Wednesday night, my hands really hurt! The next week was better, but only when I applied the correct technique - which is sometimes hard to concentrate on when you start having fun with the tune!! I am looking forward to the acoustic shows in the weeks ahead though, as I have been practicing using the correct technique. No more sore hands for

The Bomb Shelter…
Bass Equipment Pt2: So, if you caught the last Blue & Gray "Wood & Steel" show, you got to see what I am talking about in this issue! The acoustic-electric bass is a Samick AB2. This has been my practice instrument for 3 years, and recently decided I needed a little less "growl" then I get out of the Fender ‘Big Block’. So I took it into the shop (and got some help from Zig [THANKS!]) and got it gig ready. What a rush! Loved the warm tone! Loved how full the sound was! Only real issue - like with any acoustic bass, you can have a hard time projecting lows, but I have to say, I thought it came across pretty well. I hope that this will help “BlackHand” continue to expand and define its sound! Peace All…Hope to see you out! ~ Kyle
