HistoryThe territory of New Zealand is one of the

last places in the world in a suitcase.The first Europeans to arrive in the region

did so in the unlikely journey of John Jufré and Juan Fernandez in Oceania, at wich time they would have discovered New Zealand to Spain, at document submitted Philip II and in archaeological (Spanish style helmets) found in caves in the upper North Island.

CultureThe culture of New Zealand is a fusion of

Maori culture and from the descendants of British settlers, of whom most were working class.

Maori culture also has several rites of haka: one is the moko, traditionals facial tatto Maori with which the distinguished and marked the clan to which he belonged.

SportsThe most important is rugby. Other popular

sports are cricket, netball, basketball and football.

The New Zealand national team, the All blacks have the best record among all national teams. And champions hosted the first rugby World Cup in 1987 and will return to host the turnament in 2011. The haka, a traditional Maori war dance, is performed by the All Blacks before their international matches.

ClimateThe climate in New Zealand is basically cool

temperate to warm temperate, ranging from a remarkable way according to latitude and altitude: the southwest, much inluenced by cold currents from Antartica and the largest holder of middle altitudes, is an area warm-cold, where glaciers are important.

EconomyNew Zealand has a developed

economy, modern and prosperous, it is estimated that GDP (PPP) U.S. $ 115.624 million (2008). The country has a relatively high standard of living and an estimated GDP (per capita) of 27,017 in 2008, comparable to southern Europe.

wugged terrain consisting of the North Island and South Island (and a small group of islands)

The North Islands with it’s golden beaches, ancient kauri forests, volcanoes, thermal areas and large cities.
