Amaravati is planned to be Public Transport Priority City with focus on newer technologies of electric and autonomous vehicles. The focus is to discuss on the best practices and development guidelines to achieve the city goals and objectives of National Urban Transport Policy.

Vision and Goals

• Vision for Capital City • Andhra Pradesh set to make the proposed capital city of Amaravati, a pioneering smart city in the

country and a true “People’s Capital” developed as per the global standards

• Master plan set the vision for Physical Infrastructure for Amaravati as “a national level transport node; a region with quality infrastructure and industrial base that supports growth of state; by promoting regional and national level connectivity”

• Road Network

• NH-16 between Kolkata-Chennai is on eastern side of capital city while NH-16 between Pune-Machilipatnam is on northern side

• NH-30 towards Jagaldalpur meets NH65 on northern side

• Existing major district roads at proposed capital city provide access through NH16

• Rail Network

• Railway lines to Chennai and Hyderabad are eastern and northern sides with major stations at Vijayawada and Guntur. Nearest stations are at Mangalagiri and Krishna canal.

• Airport is located on NH-16 at Gannavaram about 30 km from capital city
