Infrastructure is basic physical and organizational structures needed for the operation of

a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function.It can be generally defined as the set of interconnected

structural elements that provide framework supporting an entire structure of development.

Traditionally, the government has been solely responsible for developing the country’s

infrastructure. But it is found that the government in infrastructure is inadequate. Today , the private

sector has started playing a very important role in infrastructure development

i. We spend only 1.4% of GDP on infrastrucuture which is inadequate

ii. India has 17% of worlds population but 20% of diseases.

iii. Half the diseases are accounted for by communicable diseases

iv. 20% of population uses public health care facilities which aren’t staffed properly..
