Difficulty of Seniors and Civic initiations in Hungary
No perspective for seniors in Hungary, little pension, no work. The average pension is 92.000 HUF (318 euro), but in countryside is 83.000. (288 euro). The 30 % retired men and 40 % women have high risk of poverty.
The governmental actions of the Year of Active Ageing are limited.
There are 3 divided cultural regions in Europe: Western, Southern and Eastern. Different traditions, mentality, political economical and social culture. Eastern countries are very far from western standards.
Intergenerational Proclamation
Released in November, 2011
Answer by Inforum
The proclamation aims to change the general attitude towards aging people and help to strenghten their self-esteem. They are important and valuable citizens with lots of experience, so they musn’t be excluded from the societies.
„Many thousands of our fellow citizens die only because already nobody loves them and because already they do not like themselves either.”
