European Higher Education Fair, 15-16 March 2014 Come and Meet German universities Welcome to the 14th European Higher Education Fair in Hong Kong! This year, altogether 12 German universities and higher education institutions will be presenting their wide range of degree programs and language courses to you again!
In recent years, Germany became a popular study and research destination in Hong Kong and Macau. In order to make the European education system more attractive and comparable for overseas students, Germany’s traditional degree system has been replaced by the introduction of a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree system during the famous Bologna Process which started in 1998.
Compared with last year, the total number of HK students studying in Germany has increased by over 35%. Up until now, local
universities have established 75 university partnerships with German universities, showing a close and strong relation between them.
Nowadays, more than 400 German higher education institutions are currently offering over 1,500 internationally recognized degree programs, which are partly or totally taught in English. Education has a high political priority in Germany and is therefore strongly subsidized by the government. For this reason, state-funded universities charge NO general tuition fees even to overseas students for first-degree programs. There might be tuition fees for Master-degree programs, but very moderate.
In addition to excellence in teaching and research, German universities and other funding organizations offer different types of scholarships and funding possibilities to international students, which make Germany one of the leading study and research destinations for students worldwide!
