3) How to get to Risør?

Risør Yacht Club wants to welcome you to the beautiful city of Risør and give you a taste of our country. We really look forward to seeing you all! Risør is situated in the south-eastern part of Norway about one hundred kilometers north of Kristiansand. This small and charming city is located by the sea-side, between the two cities Kragerø and Tvedestrand. Kristiansand is the communication centre in southern Norway and has extensive ferry, plane, train and bus links with the rest of Norway and from abroad. By ferry The port of Kristiansand is the second largest in Norway. The two ferry companies Color Line and Fjord Line has daily sailings to and from the town Hirtshals in Denmark. It is about 1 hrs 30 m drive from Kristiansand to Risør. In addition, Fjord Line has one daily sailing from Hirtshals to Langesund (1 hrs 10 m drive to Risør), and Color Line operates with two sailings per day to Larvik (1 hrs 30 m drive to Risør). By air Arriving by plane, the nearest airports are Kjevik in Kristiansand and Torp Sandefjord.

By train There are trains from both Kristiansand and Oslo train stations with the “Sørlandsbanen”. This is a train line between Stavanger (via Kristiansand) and Oslo. The nearest railway station to Risør is Gjerstad station. From Oslo it takes about 3 hrs to Gjerstad and from Kristiansand about 1 hrs 40 min to Gjerstad.

By bus There are several daily departures between Oslo and Kristiansand with bus. The buses stop by E18 at Vinterkjær bus stop. From there either corresponding local bus or taxi to Risør (10 minutes).

Note: We recommend those of you who want to stay centrally with easy access to the venue to make an early reservation. But no matter where you stay, the venue is easy accessible by car.

6) Motorhome parking There is a dedicated area for camping cars in Risør, called Tjenna, which is located five minutes walking distance from the venue. Facilities at the camping site include electricity, water and toilets. Tickets for overnight stay at the motorhome can be purchased at an automatic parking machine.

7) Coach Boat Charter

Appendix 1 – Timetable ferries

HIRTSHALS - KRISTIANSAND The Hirtshals Kristiansand ferry route connects Denmark with Norway and is currently operated by two ferry companies. The Fjord Line service runs up to 3 times per day with a sailing duration of around 2 hrs 15 min, while the Color Line service runs up to 2 times per day with a duration from 3 hrs 14 min.
