I personally looked at different websites, even online articles such as The Guardian, Wikipiedia, Rottentomatoes and Pearl&Dean and the most common top 5 romantic films that came up were the following.

Industry Researchtop 5 romantic films
Since our chosen genre is romance, each of us had to research about the top 5 romantic movies in the film industry and talk
about their budget and how much money they made . I personally looked at different websites, even online articles such
as The Guardian, Wikipiedia, Rottentomatoes and Pearl&Dean and the most common top 5 romantic films that came up were
the following.
1) The Twilight SeriesThe Twilight Series are still a few of the most watched romantic films in the industry. The series contains 5 films: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Braking Dawn part 1 and Breaking Dawn part 2.
The budget of the films started off quite low. The budget for Twilight was $37 million, for New Moon it raised to $50 million. Then, the budget for each film kept increasing, almost doubling because Eclipse took $68 million to make. The budget for Breaking Dawn part 1 was $100 million and finally for Breaking dawn part 2 was £120 million which was the highest. We can see how the budget for each of the films increases due to how they become more successful after each movie.
This is the box office for the series which includes the exact profit each film made. If we add all profits we get a huge $3.4 billion in total.
The series was distributed by Summit Entertainmnet.
2) Titanic
Titanic is one of the most successful movies in the industry because it made a profit of $2.1 billion which shows how internationally successful it has been. The budget was really small compared to the profit, it was $200 million which is considered one of the most expensive films to make.
The film was distributed by the 20th Century Fox corporation. This distribution company distributes a lot of Hollywood, high budget films and that is why it is one of the 6 major american film studios.
3) Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing is quite old compared to the other movies but does not mean it is less successful. The budget for the film was only $6 million but the total earnings after releasing it were $214 million.
The film was distributed by Vestron Pictures
4) The Notebook
The Notebook is known by almost everyone. The budget was $29 million. The film earned a large amount of money worldwide, including domestic and foreign earnings: it made $115 million.
The distributor of this film is again, the 20th Century Fox corporation.
It is a typical Hollywood romantic film.
5) Love Actually
This film had a budget of $45 million but made approximately $247million (inlcuding domestic and foreign earnings).
The movie was distributed by Universal Pictures which is a really common distributor often found to distribute many other films.
However, even though I just searched a few of the most famous and high budget movies in Hollywood, does not mean our budget is going to be as high because we are only students and have nowhere near the amount of money these distribution companies have. We also do not have a real distributor because this is only a 2 minute film opening, not a whole film.
Difference between an art house cinema and blockbuster
An art house film has a small budget and is made fo a smaller audience. The movie does not get as many views and reviews as the high budget ones due to its low budget and therefore it will not be as successful and known. It is almost decided how many views it will get due to the bloggers and campigns. This means that art house films are nit made with many special effects and famous actors and actresses which re costly due to how they are expected to be paid quite a lot. These films are not made by utra profesiional, skilled ediotors and producers, but by people who know some things about filming, if not basics. They know what is needed for a good movie, but with a small budget. These kind of films are not shown in any big theatres, only small theatres. Andrei Rublev is a famous art house film.
A blockbuster film is made for entertainment purposes and for mass market audience. It is made with A ranked stars who get paid a lot and are a lot more famous, such as Hollywood actors, actresses. They all hve a high budget to make the film look as real as possible, adding special effects. They need a lot f spectators due to the amount of miney spent on the film. They are shown in almost all movie theatres around the country. All blockbuster films are popular and known by everyone. Some of the most famous are Titanic, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean etc...
