In response to letter no. 1/7/DIP/2015/MSME-DI dated
20/05/2016 of O/o DC (MSME), M/o MSME, Govt. of India. The
District Industrial Profile of Bhopal for the year 2015-16 has been
updated upto 31/03/2016 by this office. This profile contained
Geography, Topography, Mineral availability, forest resources, District
general information, Industrial scenario & potentiality of MSME of the
district.
Bhopal is located in the central part of India, and is just north of
the upper limit of the Vindhya mountain ranges. Located on the Malwa
plateau, it is higher than the north Indian plains and the land rises
towards the Vindhya Range to the south. The city has uneven elevation
and has small hills within its boundaries. The major hills in Bhopal
comprise of Idgah hills and Shyamala hills in the northern region and
Arera hills in the central region.
While preparing the profile, the data was collected from various
departments of Madhya Pradesh Government and from internet. I take
this opportunity to appreciate the efforts of Shri V.M.Kshire, Asstt.
Director (PI), Shri B.Gahan, Asstt. Director (EI) in bringing out this
industrial profile of Bhopal for the year 2015-16.

Brief Industrial Profile of Bhopal District
1. General Characteristics of the District Bhopal is located in the central part of India, and is just north of the upper limit of the

1.1 Location & Geographical Area. Bhopal District is bounded by the districts of Guna to the north, Vidisha to the
northeast, Raisen to the east and southeast, Sehore to the southwest and west, and Rajgarh to the northwest. The city of Bhopal lies in the southern part of the district,
and the majority of the population resides within Bhopal municipality. The town of
Berasia lies in the northern part of the district.
3.7 Vendorisation / Ancillarisation of the Industry:- Due to establishment of BHEL, Bhopal a major cluster comprising of Machining & Electrical products has been developed in Bhopal

General issues raised by industry association during the course of meeting: 1 infrastructure facilities like Roads, Electricity, and Water etc. should be improved for healthier industrial environment for faster growth Development and maintenance of Industrial Area 2- For expansion of existing units at least 20% land should be reserved in industrial area 3 When Municipal Corporation collect property tax from industrial units than it is sole
responsibility of the corporation to clean industrial area and disposed of the solid waste
