The final frame design is light weight and allows for seat width expansion with the help of adjustable seat straps over which a firm cushion is provided.

The handle bar in horizontal position helps in pushing the wheelchair comfortably and rotates in downward position to allow folding of the wheelchair.

The castor wheels overcome minor obstacles such as a riser and is height adjustable for better fit.

Removable footrest is shaped in the form of a shoe which looks playful at the same time gives protection and holds the feet in position.

The bracket that connects the back-rest and the seat provides for angle adjustment of the back-rest to offer best comfortable position.

The low profile arm-rest helps in ingress and egress at the same time serves as a clothes guard, preventing the clothes getting caught in the spokes.

To bring the joy of play, remove the fear of wheelchair from the child and remove the stigma attached to wheelchairs the spoke guard graphics are designed.

i The spoke guard is designed with puzzle graphics to add playfulness. ii A graphical map of the city or town that the child lives in to make it playful as well as informative.iii As children like boardgames, the scrabble board graphics are used on the spokeguard & magnetic scrabble tiles provided to play with or just write their names on the spokeguard to personalize the wheelchair.

Understanding the complexity of the system, finding the weak links, loop holes in a system and addressing the issues with one or more suitable approaches. The grey area of elderly/ aging was selected and solutions were sought in totality for: Product, Policy and Services. Dealing with urban elderly population extensive research brought forward a set of design principals for age-proof design and also universal design. Form and functionThe resulting form contains the cutting mechanism and fits underneath the standards office table, it can be accessed by foot to operate as a dust-bin. The display and controls are housed on a sloping surface for visibility and access. The transparent view panel helps to let the user know when the bin is full to prevent any paper jam. The rear handle helps in carrying and the groove in the blade housing helps in lifting it without coming in contact with the blades.

pashuRAKSHAPashu-raksha is an application that allows to locate livestock and access information using the mobile phone GPRS system to read radio frequency identification tag (RFID) used in identifying animals and collecting data such as date of birth, inoculations, breeding specifics etc. It will help to spot the exact location of the livestock and to send the animal data to the veterinarian for speedy diagnosis in remote villages.

SURAKSHACotton begins to suffer from drought if its leaves stay above 82° F-27.8° C for more than 6 hours. Farmers can choose the time, temperature threshold at which they would like to receive alerts. Infrared (IR) or laser thermometers monitoring the plant temperature in the farm relay information to computer base station, cell phone modem sends text message to farmer’s cell phone. ADS can tell temperature increase in the farm directly to the farmer or fire station.

Crops tend to suffer from drought if the irrigation schedule is not micromanaged. Also the requirement for irrigation can vary in different areas in the same farm. Analysing and redesigning the interface of Ultrasound system used for sonographyThe ultrasound system offers a better user experience by allowing for scanning and interpreting of ultrasound images at the point of care with ease. Both the doctors and the technician with limited experience or training who just need basic functionality and ease of operation can use this system easily. Immediate clinical decisions can be made faster which gives the doctor more time to focus on the patient.

Analysing and redesigning interface of Lithotriptor (group work)Medical device used in the non-invasive treatment of kidney stones using high-energy shock waves to fragment and disintegrate them.The image intensifier and lithotriptor generator display and controls were redesigned after observation and study of the entire lithotripsy procedure and interacting with the experts, technicians and patients. The remote control display and controls are redesigned such that the form is more intuitive, easy to use and leaves no possibility of error due to accidental pushing of buttons.

The life cycle of Medusa Jellyfish was studied with respect to itsForm, Function, PrincipleTaking inspiration from attributes derived such as Safety, Protection, Biological propulsion, Principle of growth, Buoyancy, Biomechanics, Bioluminescence an illuminated collapsible enclosure was developed which can be used in crowded places like expos for private viewing that is light weight, easy to install and dismantle. Focusing on the form finding and fabrication of minimal surface structures, modularity and efficiency are improved through the repetition of identical components which creates intricate surfaces with only a few types of component, with applications in architecture, product and fashion design.

M e d u s a J e l l y f i s hThe resulting structure was studied in terms of scale and application. The resulting temporary structure is air filled, light weight, easy to transport and assemble with minimum supports. Suspended from the ceiling the enclosure can be scaled as per requirement to create an enclosure. The LED’s illuminating the structure create an element of interest in a crowded place such as an expo. The power and data cable is clubbed with the cable suspending the structure.

c r a f t d o c u m e n t a t i o n‘Aranmula Kannadi’ or bronze mirrors of AranmulaOwes its name to the village of Aranmula, a serene little village in Kerala, India. The uniqueness of this craft is in its creation, a closely guarded secret that is known to these gifted craftsmen of Aranmula.It was handed down from generation to generation and is a part of all auspicious occasions. Exquisitely crafted, the oval shaped mirror is traditionally framed in a decorative brass frame. The craft documentation was an attempt to understand the myth regarding the origin and various processes involved in the making of this enigmatic mirror.

Located at the periphery of the Mind Space Corporate Campus, the project is targeted to serve the city’s affluent districts and its burgeoning population base.The four level retail and entertainment development is strategically sited to cascade towards the lake and sits on top of four level parking deck carefully crafted within the existing contours. The project also incorporates a 8 level office building with expansive floor plates overlooking the lake.
