What is an Apprenticeship Framework?
National Qualification with component partsRecognises practical competence and
knowledge skills for individual learning in the workplace
Allows you to develop and complete Key Skills/Functional Skills work in numeracy, literacy and ICT
Work based qualification with some workshops
L2= Intermediate/L3 Advanced
Framework componentsPortfolio of competence based on your job in
the workplaceKey Skills/Functional Skills (Numeracy, Literacy &
ICT)
Technical Certificate (Knowledge –based tests)
ERR (Employment Rights & Responsibilities)
PLTS (Personal Learning Thinking Skills)
Guided Learning Hours ( The suggested number hours needed to complete the qualification – can be on or off the job)
NVQContains units with different credits
allocated to them. You have to achieve a minimum
value - your assessor will discuss this with you.
All NVQ evidence is competency based on your job role so be sure to select units that reflect what you do.
Employment Rights & Responsibilities
A workbook to be completed as part of your framework.
Contains specific and generic questions covering employment legislation.
Can be found in resources section of e- portfolio under Apprenticeship Framework heading to find relevant ERR form to complete
Answer the age discrimination quiz to test your knowledge
Key Skills/Functional SkillsDepending on your previous qualifications you may
need to achieve a qualification in numeracy (AON), literacy (Comms) and ICT
Key Skills are in two parts - multiple choice test and portfolio work.
Functional Skills are test based onlyLook in resources section of e-portfolio to see
sample test papers and help sheets under Key Skills heading. *From Sept 2012 Functional Skills replace Key Skills
Your assessor will work with you to establish your preference.
Assessment MethodsAssessors use a range of different methods to assess your work including: Observation Discussion Questioning Witness Statements Case Histories Personal Statements
E-portfolio system
Evidence is submitted and assessed using an on-line e-portfolio system. You will be able to track your progress, obtain feedback and guidance
You can access through our website or www.quals-direct.co.uk You will need an individual email address and will be
issued with a username and password. Click on the resources tab of the e-portfolio system to find a Leaner’s Guide to e-portfolio
Health & Safety At work, you need to:
Work in a safe environment Behave in a responsible manner Cooperate with your employer Be aware of hazards and risks and know how to report
them Look under the Resources tab on the e-portfolio system and
under the heading Induction complete the Induction to the Workplace form. Also useful for information is the Besafe document

Riverside’s Grievance ProcedureIf you are unhappy with any aspect of your learning do as follows: Try and sort it out with your assessor If this is not an option contact your Internal Verifier Write to Jane Preston, Managing Director

Internal verifiersYour portfolio work will be quality checked by the Internal Verifier. They ensure your learning is on track and the quality of the evidence meets the national standards
