For optimum LED performance and to ensure full luminaire life, the luminaire needs to be designed as a whole. To do this, Simon applies the most advanced materials and technologies on the market, from the LED chip itself to the luminaire material.
LEDS TRANSFORMED INTO LIGHT FITTINGS
PCB
Heat is dissipated uniformly from the body of the LED towards the bottom face of the PCB through thermal paths, so leading the heat to the heat sink.
LENSES
Using the most technological optics on the market, made from technical polymers, designed for maximum efficiency and light transmission to give performance of over 90%.
DIFFUSERS
Diffuser that balances visual comfort -– aesthetics – performance
REFLECTORS
With anti-UV treatments that prevent yellowing and protect surface finishes to avoid glares and create a pleasant visual feel.
LED
LED fidelity is ensured through an exhaustive selection process, giving minimum dispersion of colour temperature and light output to create uniform lighting.
HEAT MANAGEMENT
All heat sinks are designed specifically for each luminaire, depending on the number of LEDs.
POWER SUPPLY
Power supplies optimised for each product ensure an average service life equal to the LED’s and compliance with EMC and electrical safety regulations.

1. EXTENDED LIFE
Dramatic reduction in maintenance costs for replacing light sources.
LED technology is characterised as a light source with a service life that far outstrips that of light sources used in traditional lighting systems, maintaining their lighting properties from the first day.
2. LIGHTING FREE FROM CHANGES OVER TIME
Lighting quality, intensity and colour rendering endure over time.
The chromaticity and light levels from LEDs do not change over time due to vibration or rotation of the luminaire.
3. HIGH LIGHTING PERFORMANCE
High quality light for faithful rendering of colours and maximum efficiency.
The state-of-the-art LEDs have superior lighting performance to conventional lamps and a CRI equivalent to halogen lamps.
LED TECHNOLOGY at the forefront of technical lighting
12
4. MINIMUM AMOUNT OF HEAT
Reducing energy consumption for air conditioning. More comfortable environment for personal well-being.
LEDs convert a high percentage of electrical energy into visible light, with minimal heat emission, which is transmitted in the opposite direction to the light and does not reach the space occupied by the users.
5. DYNAMICS AND CONTROL
Promoting the design and appeal of spaces with the appropriate chromaticity (choice of white, RGB, intensity, etc.).
The LEDs feature the ability to select the most suitable colour temperature (2700 to 5000 K) for the designed setting by regulating RGB colour, as well as providing full dimming.
6. NO IR OR UV RADIATION EMISSIONS
Products illuminated are not damaged by UV and IR radiation, hence LEDs can be used in all types of environments, including those involving highly sensitive objects.
LEDs are free from IR or UV radiation, as the all the energy transmitted is in the form of visible radiation.

Gradual visual adaptation to the lighting sensation from a physical and perception point of view:Its studied design using a reflector gives maximum visual comfort with a cut-off of 35°.What is more, the matt finish of both aluminium and white reflectors gives uniform ceiling lighting, eliminating undesirable reflections. With a light level of below the 1000 cd/m2 limit for a radiation angle of 65° to the vertical, this gives a UGR < 19 to guarantee meeting all the technical requirements in spaces for daily and prolonged use, in accordance with the EN-12464-1-2012 standard.
Söllner Diagram
Visual performance can also vary due to imperceptible luminaire flicker and can disturb the mood and behaviour of people perceiving the light. The RD core control management system reduces signal ripples, making it innocuous and comfortable under intensive use conditions.
Highly transparent optics designed to provide lighting solutions to meet every need. The fixing system between the LED and the optics, technically known as the holder, minimises light losses and ensures direct contact with the heat sink to guarantee heat transmission.

HEAT DISSIPATION
LED technology significantly decreases the light source’s flicker, well below the usual values of discharge and fluorescent lamps.
LED lamps therefore:- Enhance visual comfort- Reduce visual fatigue- Improve the conditions in work environments
The aluminium body features fins to ensure proper thermal management and heat dissipation, which results in extended service life and good lighting performance.

1-10 V CONTROL AND INSTANT ON
LED technology ensures instant on and linear power control across the range. This is its main strength compared to the conventional metal-halide and sodium-vapour lamps used in this type of facilities.
These discharge lamps have a low level control range, a slow start curve and a minimum cooling time prior to turning back on.
Thus, the combined use of the suspended luminaire 806 with presence detectors or dimming systems can translate into significant energy consumption savings.
Standard control of the 1-10 V luminaire behaves linearly, so, for example at 50% the lamp consumes 95 W and 10 500 lm.

The maintained illuminance value needs to be sustained over time. Hence a complete maintenance programme needs to be prepared, including the luminaire replacement frequency, luminaire and room cleaning intervals and the cleaning method.
The maintenance factor is much lower with LED luminaires, as the drop in light flux can be as low as 10% over their whole service life. Additionally, LED luminaires do not absorb dust and so do not get dirty as frequently as conventional luminaires.

Variation in the luminous flux emitted by a luminaire over its service life or over a given number of operating hours. Expressed as % of the initial flux, the most widely used lumen maintenance values are L70 and L90, accompanied by the operating hours to reach this level of brightness, where: L70 at 50 000 h: decrease of 30% in luminous flux compared to the initial value after 50 000 hours of operation. L90 at 30 000 h: decrease of 10% in luminous flux compared to the initial value after 30 000 hours of operation.

Determines the level of protection offered by the luminaires against solid objects (first digit) and liquids (second digit).
For example - In the attached graph you can find class 1 (DIN) or B (CIE) premises for up to 2000 lx, with the critical angle being 50°. The red and blue curves are the polar curves for the evaluated luminaire. As this lies to the left of the line shown in orange, you can determine that this luminaire is suitable for facilities at up to 500 lx with CIE classification B: high quality. No glare. The luminaire does not produce glare.

U G R a n d L U M I N A N C E
According to the requirements of the standard applying to indoor lighting facilities, UNE EN 12464-1, discomforting glare is evaluated using the CIE’s Unified Glare Rating, UGR, based on the following formula:
Depending on the application, the reference values can be 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25 or 28. Determination of the UGR value for an installation requires basic knowledge of the surrounding finishes and the observer’s position. The UGR value for each installation needs to be calculated using lighting effects software, depending on the installation being assessed and together with the lighting requirements for work stations with display screens.
In this case, the UNE EN 12464-1:2011 sets the light level limits for the luminaires (cd/m2) at angles of elevation of 65° to the vertical, so as to avoid glare due to undesirable reflections.
Hence, in offices, with screens of medium luminance, the luminance limit is set at < 1500cd/m2.In the case of work stations, e.g. related to CAD and rendering, with demanding colour and detail requirements, the luminance drops to < 1000 cd/m2.
G L A R E E VA L U AT I O N ; E U R O P E A N G L A R E L I M I TAT I O N M E T H O D O R C I E ( S Ö L L N E R ) D I A G R A M .
These diagrams show possible glare in a critical area, comprising a dihedral shape the planes of which form the so-called critical angles of 45° and 85° respectively with the vertical plane of the luminaire.
Interpretation of a Söllner diagram: • Selection of the class for the premises (CIE or DIN)• Determination of the mean lighting level• Limiting level (lx) for the selected class
