BACKGROUND

�NCDs are estimated to account for 71% of

total deaths in Indonesia (WHO Country

Profile 2014);

�77.3% person above ≥ 10 year old add

seasoning to their food which is high in salt,

53.1% consume sweet and 40.7% consume

fatty food (National Basic Health Survey /

Riskesdas 2013);

�The highest claim to National Health

Insurance were CVD, cancer and Hemodialysis

REGULATION OF MINISTER OF HEALTH

REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA NO. 30 YEAR 2013

�Enforcing food labeling � Strengthens obligations

for inclusion of information on sugar, salt, and fat

contents, together with health message on the food

labellings

�Materials for regulation under this are:

– Types of food: Processed and Fast Food

– Inclusion of information on sugar, salt and fat

contents including necessary health messages

– Laboratory tests to confirm the nutrition facts

REGULATION OF MINISTER OF HEALTH

REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA NO. 30 YEAR 2013 (2)

�Health messages should contain words

“Consumption of Sugar more than 54 grams,

Sodium more than 2,000 milligram, or total Fat

more than 67 gram per person per day are risky for

hypertension, stroke, diabetes and heart attack”.

�The regulation will be enforced within 3 (three)

years.

�Dissemination of the regulation and advocacymaterials to related multi-stakeholders(Goverment, Consumer, Media, Food industryassociation, Association of Indonesian hotel andrestaurant, etc.)

�Developing Technical Guideline for the inclusionof information on sugar, salt and fat contentsincluding health messages on fast foods.

�Conducting a Study on Total Diet from 2014 (forpublic consumption pattern and types of foodthat are largely consumed by the public)
