My Personal Reflection

In my lesson plan, I want to talk about freedom in the Middle East. The subject is going to include: freedom of women in the Middle East, freedom from occupation and example of Palestinian and Israeli conflict, freedom of writing poetry, flag means a freedom of a country and freedom of celebration example wedding in Jordan. I will use for this project the women’s role in the Middle East lesson. I want to start the class with activity. First, the students will start brainstorming words about freedom. I prepared some vocabulary on flash cards.

Also, I prepared some pictures that I want to hang on the wall. Students will match the cards with the pictures. I think this is a great way to start a new lesson. It will grab student’s attention to the subject. Besides, I think it is important to have a map of the Middle East in Arabic classrooms. I want students to point on the map the countries that we are going to talk about. By the end of these plans the students will be able to recognize that freedom has different meanings and especially in the Middle East. Also, they will be able to identify the differences between the two cultures: the American and the Arab world.

Modification(s) for students with special needs

When independent work is presented, I give it to the student in small "segments". For example, a worksheet could be folded in half. The student could be asked to do the first half and then come up for further directions. This prevents the student from feeling rushed or overwhelmed with the amount of work given.

Technology: Using the internet as a source of information.

Homework: Make the students visit http://www.globalenvision.org/topics/women. This website talks about ambitions, work, and duties of Arab women in Middle East. - Write a journal in Arabic using your imagination. What your life would be like as a woman lives in middle east.

Personal Reflection:

I think it is very important to compare between cultures so the students will have better understanding of the world around them. Students will talk about the daily life of Arab women in middle east after they watch the video of queen Rania. The students will learn new vocabulary and they will try to use it writing their presentations.
