We make our way east to Middlebury, Indiana. Our lodging for the next 4 nights will be at the Essenhaus Inn. This beautiful inn is located in the center of Amish Country & the Amish culture is represented here at the inn in such a beautiful way. While here you’ll enjoy the amazing craftsmanship of the Amish furniture, beautiful Amish quilts, the always tasteful Amish food & baked goods. What more could you ask for? Day 2, Tues. Aug. 25.…. Today we’ll be met by our step-on guide that will accompany us for the next 3 days as we travel through Amish Country & learn about this fascinating culture. Our day begins in Elkhart with a ’behind the scenes’ introduction into their heritage & a quilt presentation…. We’ll then travel onto Wellfield Botanical Gardens. Here as you walk the winding paths lined with flowers of many species & beautiful sculptures you’ll enjoy the serenity of what makes this haven so special. We’ll also have lunch in the gardens…This afternoon we’ll visit the little Amish community of Wakarusa & a ‘sweet surprise’ that awaits you at the ‘Wakarusa Dime Store‘….After leaving Wakarusa we’ll travel to Nappanee for another quilt exhibit & a visit to Hoosier Cabinets. Hoosier Cabinets, which is still in operation today, holds the distinction of being the longest running cabinet maker in the US….This evening you’re in for a treat at the Blue Gate Dinner Theatre. (B,L,D) Day 3, Wed. Aug. 26.…. The Shipshewana Flea Market is a do-not-miss tradition with nearly 900 booths in an open-air market covering 100 acres. Vendors offer a variety of products from seasonal produce to furniture to baked goods, and everything in between. While the women shop the men may want to visit the antique barn where you’ll witness up to 10 rings simultaneously auctioning off antiques & collectables. The livestock barn will also be busy with livestock auctions. Something for everyone!!!! After leaving the flea market we’ll head over to Ben’s Pretzel’s where everyone will have a hand at lunch…The Elkhart, Indiana area is the ’RV’ manufacturing capitol of the world. We’ll visit the RV Hall of Fame Museum that traces the history of RV’ing from as early as 1913 to today’s state-of- the-art motor homes, as our guide shares RV folklore & stories…. Our fun-filled day continues as we visit Linton’s Enchanted Gardens, which features many themed gardens… This evening we’ll enjoy an in-home Amish feast @ Yoder’s Farm. Following your meal enjoy a personalized buggy ride in the Yoder’s family buggy.
