About the Institute:Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (formerly Indian Institute of Bankers) was

established in the year 1928 as a professional body of Banks and Financial Institutions in India on the initiatives of eminent bankers, businessmen and leading industrialists.

IIBF’s current membership includes 677 banks and financial institutions as institutional members and over 475000 of their employees as individual members, IIBF is possibly the largest Institute of its kind in the world. During its 84 years of service, IIBF has emerged as a premier institute in banking and finance education for those employed as well as seeking employment in the sector, aiming for professional excellence. Since inception, the Institute has awarded over 554000 banking and finance qualifications, viz., JAIIB, CAIIB, Diploma and Certificates helped bankers to sustain their professionalism through Continuing Professional Development programs.

About Leadership Centre:The state of the art Leadership Centre located in the Corporate Office of the

Institute heralds the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Institute to meet the training and learning requirements of the banking and financial sector which faces increased challenges of competition, innovations, technology developments and above all customer expectations. There is a continuous need for officials to acquire multi tasking skills, customer friendly attitudes and knowledge of procedures and processes. The need for skill up gradation and managerial competence has never been as much felt as it is now. Recognising this need, the Institute has begun other training in niche areas in its Leadership Centre. These programmes supplement the training initiatives of banks and financial institutions. These are aimed at enhancing the competence of the participants to meet the business challenges and compliance standards.

The Centre has aesthetically designed classrooms ideal for management training, breakout rooms, seminar hall and a rich library. The ambience is very conducive for learning and will enable the participants absorb, very effectively the training inputs delivered by the centre.

ADVANCED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME (AMP) IN BANKING & FINANCE

Background:

The Indian Banking sector is in its growth and transition phase. Growing competition among banks and financial intermediaries both national and international has heralded rapid and unforeseen changes in the financial services environment, where banks have to transform fast to adapt to the new normals. An important step to facilitate this transformation will be the empowerment of the middle and senior management with the skill-sets necessary for handling modern banking challenges and the Institute has, therefore taken the initiatives to introduce an appropriate management qualification for middle/senior level Banking & Finance professionals since 2007.

This programme aims at equipping middle/senior management officers with appropriate management skills imperative to succeed in the emerging competitive global market place.

Objectives:

• Develop a global strategic perspective among the middle/senior management officers

• Inculcate advanced skills for handling emerging areas in banking & finance

• Develop leadership and team building attributes among middle/senior executives and equipping them with the latest tools and techniques to assume higher leadership positions.

Specific Goals:

• Discuss framework of the national and international banking/finance industry and competitive analysis.

• Equip bankers with risk management tools/skills.

• Prepare and assist bankers to become effective Customer Relationship Managers in order to leverage every customer relationship.

• Examine issues (using case analysis approach) relating to corporate governance, operational risks and other related concerns in global banking arena.

• Stimulate creative and lateral thinking with an aim to develop innovative financial products/services.

• Provoke thinking related to leadership styles and team building approaches.

• Hone communication and presentation skills of the participants and sharpen marketing skills.

Target Group/Programme Eligibility :

• Officers in MMG-Scale-III & above level officers in Public Sector Banks or equivalent in private sector banks and foreign banks with a minimum of 10 years of work experience.

• Executives from middle and senior management cadre in Financial sector and NBFCs with 10 years of work experience.

• Should possess a degree in any discipline.

Pedagogic Support :

The learning methodology will be a combination of classroom lectures, case studies, simulation of business operations, individual/group project work and interactive sessions with the industry players/ regulatory authorities/support providers.

• Expert faculties within IIBF.

• Experts/Practitioners from the Banking & Finance field.

• Academicians from the Banking & Finance field.

Selection Procedure:

Sponsorship / Nomination / Recommendations by bank is essential. In case candidates are not sponsored by bank, they will have to undergo a selection interface with Director (Training), IIBF before nomination is confirmed.

Program Duration :

Not exceeding 11 months + Project work

Classes on Sunday / Bank holidays : Full Day

Award of Certificate:

After successful completion/passing of the AM Programme, candidates will be awarded a ‘Certificate in Advanced Management in Banking & Finance’ by IIBF.

Evaluation Process:1. 75 % attendance is mandatory for candidates.

2. For each (subject) course, 100 marks will be allotted. Break up for100 marks will be as follows :

3. Minimum pass marks will be 50 for each (subject) course.

4. Project assignments will be on subjects identified by the sponsoring Bank. The project will be evaluated by experts identified by IIBF. The project findings will be the intellectual property of IIBF and sponsoring Bank jointly.

Dr. R. Bhaskaran Chief Executive Officer

Dr. R. Bhaskaran is a rank holding post graduate in commerce from Madras University. He holds a PG diploma in Financial Management, and also a PG Diploma in Treasury and Forex Management. His Ph.D is in Banking from Universty of Pune. He is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance and a Certified Treasury Manager. He joined the banking industry as an officer in Bank of India in the year 1975. He moved over to NABARD in the year 1980. He has held many positions in NABARD and rose to the level of Chief General Manager of NABARD before he took over as CEO of IIBF. In between, he has worked as Joint Director and Director in charge of Bankers Institute of Rural Development. He has also successfully led many consultancies. He has published three books and presented number of papers at National and International Fora. He is a sought after speaker in the area of Banking and Finance.

Dr. P. Bala Chandran Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director of Academic Affairs

Dr. P. Bala Chandran is a M.Com and Ph.D (Banking & Finance) from Mumbai University. He has also completed CAIIB and holds a Diploma in Training & Development from ISTD, New Delhi. He is in the training field since 1982. He has been a visiting faculty in a few B-schools. His publications include 7 books (two on Foreign Exchange) and papers on banking and HRD topics. His areas of specialization are Forex, CSR and Positive Psychology. He has earlier worked in RBI, Union Bank of India and NIBSCOM, New Delhi.

Mr. Sharma is a post graduate in Agricultural Science and CAIIB. He has more than three decades’ experience with Bank of Baroda and his last assignment was Deputy General Manager and Principal of their staff college. He has an expertise on Foreign Exchange and has authored a book. He has rich academic blend with banking experience. His areas of interests are International Banking and Foreign Exchange.

N. V. Chalapati Rao Faculty Consultant

Mr. N. V. Chalapati Rao is former Deputy General Manager of Syndicate Bank. He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Mathematics and CAIIB. He has been with IIBF for more than two years. He has authored number of books for IIBF. His areas of interests are Treasury and Risk Management and Foreign Exchange Business in Banks.

Mr. Venkatesh has experience of nearly four decades with Bank of India in different Managerial positions. He retired as Deputy General Manager and Principal of their Apex College. His work experience includes Risk Management (hands on experience in Treasury, ALM, Funds Management, Operations, Forex), Corporate Credit (hands on experience in large corporate and infrastructure financing). He worked for four years in Hong Kong Centre as Alternate Chief Executive in charge of Forex, ALM and Funds Management and was member of Treasury Managers Association in Hong Kong.

S. Muralidaran Joint Director (Academics)

Mr. Muralidaran’s academic qualifications are: B.Sc.(Hons) from Mumbai University, Master in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, CAIIB, Diploma in Business Management and Diploma in Treasury, Investment and Risk Management from IIBF. He has done his MBA with specialization in Finance & Human Resources Management area from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He is also a graduate in Law. His areas of interests are Micro Finance and Rural Banking.

Dr. T C G Namboodiri Joint Director (Faculty)

Dr. Namboodiri is a Ph.D in banking and a post graduate in economics, He has more than 33 years of experience in banking. He was Chief Manager and a Member of Faculty at Union Bank of India Staff College, Bangalore and later as Asst. General Manager in Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd; at Head Office Karur, in the Credit Department. He has written several articles in Banking and Management. His Book “Credit Appraisal” is well received among the bankers. His areas of interest are Corporate Credit, Corporate Governance and Business Ethics.

His areas of interests are Corporate Banking and Credit Management.

Sukumar Dutta, Joint Director (Faculty)

Mr. Sukumar Dutta is a triple post graduate (M.A. Economics, M.COM, MBA (Banking and Finance). He also possesses professional qualifications like LLB and CAIIB. After working for Bank of India for more than 28 years, he switched over to Academics. He has worked in number of reputed B-Schools as Economics and Finance Faculty: last one being NIILM Centre for Management Studies, Greater Noida. His areas of interests are Macroeconomics, Legal Matters and Financial Advising.
