The HavelisThe Havelis of Jaisalmer are an amalgam of both Rajput architecture, as well as Islamic art that was imported via trader´s caravans througt the desert. They are mansions of wealthy merchands. The opulence of the carvings on the stone facades is a testimony of the immense wealth of the family who owns them.Every inch is carved in fine detail ans was executed by the best “gazdars” ( artisans who specialized in fitting together carved stones ) and “shilpines” ( master stone carvers ) of the time.
