Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. David Robinson
Dr. Robinson’s years of service at KUMC include:· 1945 - Assistant in Plastic Surgery· 1946 - Associate in Plastic Surgery· 1948 - Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology and Head of Plastic Surgery· 1950 - Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology· 1955-1960 - Professor of Surgery and Oncology· 1967 – Appointed as Lecturer, History of Medicine· 1973 - Appointed as director of the Gene and Barbara Burnett Burn Center, and awarded the title of Distinguished Professor· 1974-1979 - Served as Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs and Chief of Staff.· 1975-1976 - Served as Acting Executive Vice Chancellor.· 1984 - Became an Honorary Medical Alumnus· 1985 Was appointed as University Distinguished Professor Emeritus
We are privileged to learn on the medical campus where Dr. Robinson served in many capacities for nearly six decades, and we are honored to have received the Robinson scholarship.
The trip
In 2014 we received the Robinson scholarship and went to visit Christian Medical College in Vellore, India to do OT observation. Our hospital observation was from June 9th to July 4th.
We also decided to travel afterwards.
Where is Vellore?
Vellore is in Tamil Naduin Southern India. It isa relatively small city two hours from Chennai.
Christian Medical College
CMC is huge! Dorms are on the college campus. Some our rotations were at the college campus and some at the main hospital. CMC has many programs scattered throughout Vellore.

LCECU & CHAD
LCECU is a secondary care facility for the urban population of Vellore, and CHAD provides a clinic and home health to the rural community surrounding Vellore. The OTs play an important role in going into the community and educating the public.
What we saw:● Treatment for people with TBI, spinal cord injuries,
stroke.● Orthopedic outpatient● Coma stimulation● Assessments: very similar to the USA ● Prosthetic construction, fittings, and acute amputation
treatments● Counseling sessions: group and individual● Job skills training● Home visits
