Is a cinema with 2 screening rooms (no 3D films are shown) which means that they selectively pick out what films to screen as they don’t have a lot of screening rooms. This means that some of the films that will be shown are targeted at a niche audience such as, international films form countries like Iran, Poland and many more. They don’t screen a lot of block busters which means that their target audience will be an older demographic (30+) as young people tend to be more interested in block buster films that are likely to be popular among their social groups. These films will also be advertised on a large scale- billboards, public transport, social networking, TV and competitions. All of these different types of media platforms appeal to a younger demographic than an older demographic. In addition this means that Everyman Cinema will lack customers from a young demographic, however because they screen films that are aimed at adults they gain a larger audience of an older demographic. The films that they screen compared to Odeon/Vue (chain cinemas) are regarded to be very unique and almost impossible to watch elsewhere.

The Experience

Compared to chain cinemas Everyman Cinema screens films both national and international, the cinema shows films and special events like The Metropolitan Opera from New York and the National Theatre, live Q&As, film festivals and seasons.Instead of having an area of pic-n-mix, hot food (nachos and cheese etc) and a till to buy drinks, ice-cream and popcorn, Everyman Cinema have a fully licensed bar (so we know that they want to appeal to adults) with all types of alcoholic beverages, also over hot freshly made food like pizzas to make the trip out to the cinema a bit more fun and date like.

The settingThe setting of the cinema inside is very luxurious and home like, it is as if you were at home watching a film. Their screening rooms are nicely decorated to satisfy the customer’s standards or expectations of the screening room. But it is a great cinema experience from my experience as I remember that they had a really good sound system and digital display, furthermore the setting was very cosy and I felt like I was at home. This sort of setting brings friends together I guess so it’s a lot easier to communicate with friends if you’re sitting right next to them. Compared to a chain cinema’s settings when everyone is sitting in rows with those pull down chairs that aren’t very comfortable. Moreover the chain cinemas it’s quite difficult to find a place to sit that you can see the screen perfectly, but at Everyman Cinema there aren’t any stairs/steps so you can see the screen clearly from which ever place you sit.

Which one would you prefer?

The overall experienceThe cinema is also very clean and tidy, as it has to be because it is located at Hampstead where some actors/celebrities usually hang out at. So the cinema needs to have high standards in case a celebrity says something bad about their cinema, which would affect viewing figures and ruin the reputation of Everyman Cinema. The people that live in the Hampstead area are likely to go to this cinema because it is closer to where there live. Here are some reviews of this cinema:

Everyman cinema may give you the best cinema experience (if you’re over 30) but their prices are quite expensive compared to the price of chain cinemas. Their tickets cost about £14.00 whereas a ticket from Odeon costs round £8.50. So the cost of the tickets narrows down its target audiences to adults rather than teenagers.
