Dear Visitor,
As Mayor of the City of Independence, let me be the first to welcome you to Independence, the heart of Cuyahoga County!
This Visitor’s Guide is filled with useful information to help you enjoy your time in our fine city. Every event hosted at our Field House is important to us, so feel free to engage our Fieldhouse Team with any questions you may have.
While your visit here will be busy, we are pleased to inform you of the more than 40 restaurants located here. If you choose to explore the surrounding area, Downtown Cleveland is a mere 10 minutes to the north, where you can explore the vibrant theater district, “Playhouse Square,” the
Greater Cleveland Aquarium, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or take time to watch a major sporting event. Easy freeway access off Rockside Road to I-77 and I-480 will surely make your travel plans run as smooth as possible.
With a brief drive to the east on Rockside Road, you can take advantage of all that the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has to offer, including the Towpath Trail along the Erie Canal for biking, jogging, or a leisurely stroll. For a more historic visit to the park, enjoy a ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
With great pride, 2014 will find us celebrating our “Bicentennial.” With 200 years of amazing history behind us, we are looking forward to a year full of exciting events for our residents and our visitors to enjoy! For more information on these community events, please access our City’s website, www.independenceohio.org.
We hope your stay in Independence is enjoyable, and that you will consider visiting us again in the near future. Hope to see you again, soon!
Sincerely,
CITY OF INDEPENDENCE
